Minchin Bivouac Route Guide | Packrafting the Poulter River (Backcountry Bivs S1E1)

Спорт

Route guide to Minchin Bivouac in the Arthurs Pass region of the Southern Alps of New Zealand; welcome to Backcountry Bivs. We embarked on a west to east main divide crossing of the Southern Alps of New Zealand - hiking for 3 days and packrafting for 1. Watch along as we explore the remote headwaters of Minchin Steam and hunt and fish our way along.
New Zealand is home to a unique network of public huts and bivouacs scattered across our large amount of public land. Some of these huts are very popular, seeing plenty of outdoors enthusiasts keen to explore and enjoy our beautiful backcountry. But some of these huts and bivs are a bit harder to reach - they don't see many people and require a well planned trip and a few days to reach. The purpose of this series is to explore into these hidden gems, showing you how to get there, what issues you might encounter and how long you'll need to make the trip. As well as showcasing our adventures along the way. Sit back and enjoy, and please consider subscribing if you enjoy the content.

GIVEAWAY details:
In this episode we are giving away two Tatonka Cub Stealth packs. These packs are bloody wicked for big backcountry hunting trips. They're small and compact, you can roll them up and stuff them in your hiking pack when you're on the move. That means you can leave your bulky pack at camp when you're setting off on a morning or evening hunt deep in the backcountry. They're also super handy during the roar - they have a brushed finish making them silent through the bush.
To get in the draw spot the codeword during the video and head over to our social media accounts linked below and comment the codeword on the giveaway post from Monday the 15th of January. You'll see a photo of the prizes in the post.
From there, like or follow our page and Tatonkahunting and you're in the draw to win!

I was at Minchin Biv...maybe 20 years ago and she was about to be blown away, so good to see its still there and has been fixed up. The top Poulter Biv was pretty cool too an A frame me thinks from memory, caught a 6lb rainbow in Lake Minchin. Thanks for posting this great memories.

Great video guys, so thank you for that. But it hurts knowing I should have started hunting earlier. But at seventy, I still get out, but not into the wilderness like you do. So the best I can do if watch great stuff you guys do THANX.

I have hunted the lower Poulter many years ago for chamois. Was a 4 day backpack with a local guide.I would say this was probably the best weeks of hunting in my life.We hunted the Cylde and I got 2 bull thar but the backpack hunt was great. You are inspiring this old Aussie hunter to go back and do it all again with my son while he's at his keenest. Thanks fellas, truly epic and inspiring stuff.Good luck and stay safe Cheers
