JAMARAT
The term "Jamarat" refers to the three stone pillars or walls (called Jamrah in singular form) in Mina, Saudi Arabia, which are pelted with pebbles by Hajj pilgrims as part of the rituals during the Islamic pilgrimage of Hajj. This ritual, known as "Ramy al-Jamarat," symbolizes the stoning of the devil and is performed during the Islamic holy days of Eid al-Adha. It commemorates the actions of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) who, according to Islamic tradition, was tempted by Satan to disobey God's command to sacrifice his son, but rejected Satan's temptation by throwing stones at him.
