I like when buy a socket “set” on a rail….that the RAIL is magnetic and able to attach to “things” for storage…..👍🏻👍🏻

Great review bother! You know as a carpenter, that rail system looks perfect. Compact and organized is what i’m about. However I wouldn’t sleep on the 12 pack foam kit you showed us. For someone who uses those more often that’s probably perfect to carry around. Looks like I gotta go break the news to my wife that i’ll be doing some shopping 😎

Some of my favorite impact sockets are the deep well thin walled sockets. Makes it so easy to get into tight places but the cost has kept me limited to only a a few at a time.

love those sets, keep in my bag as an electrician apprentice, i actually pull the black cap off of the rail and cut off the excess rail!

I chose snap on tools solely based on the premise they came to me and replaced any broken hand tool with no questions asked. Now I do love my Milwaukee 1/2 in. Impact. Definitely beats having to use air tools!

I'm a diesel mechanic with my dad. He had never really thought about Milwaukee cordless power tools until i started working with him last year. And now he just gets pissed off at his Snap-On power tools every time they cant bust a rusted bolt loose. I swear Snap-On electric cordless power tools have half of the power for twice as much money. I got in to milwaukee because i wanted a cordless 1/2" impact wrench and my local Northern Tool and Equipment was having a black Friday sale for the Milwaukee M18 High-torque W/ 2 5ah batteries and the boot for $500 AND they were throwing in the M12 3/8 electric ratchet W/ 1 1.5ah battery. A phenomenal deal IMO. If anyone

@@gnash4354 snap on power tool warranty is actually pretty poor compared to Milwaukee, I believe it’s only 1 year warranty. Their hand tools yes are lifetime warranty. I believe even their air tools only carry a 3 year warranty. Also their cordless tools I believe are still brushed so there will be a difference in power

@@gnash4354 air tools won’t get repaired same day they go to snap on for repair, plain and simple, I’ve done it before. Electric tools couldn’t tell you, I never owned a snap on power tool. I’m no longer in the automotive world so maybe that’s changed.

@@joshcbr8 my matco gun got serviced on the truck as well as my 1/2 ratchet that started to lock up. Maybe not all tools get serviced on truck? That or snap on does it differently

Since I am not a professional mechanic I do not have access to “Tool truck” items. Milwaukee brings quality, affordable & durable tools vs “tool truck” tools to the table. My Dad always said “Always use the right tool for right job.” Milwaukee is the right tool. Love the rails to make the most used sockets available easily. Thanks VCG & Vince for all you do making your videos and look forward to seeing your next video!

I just purchased the 1/2” Metric 29 pc (8mm - 36mm) with no skips in sizes which is a must for me. Retails for $200 but I love them so far, every size I could possible need in one box, metric anyway

Couple of points #1 Six point sockets have been the gold standard for decades when it comes to removing stuck bolts or high torque applications. 12 point are seen more often because they are easier to get on the bolt. It's a case of what's best vs what's most convenient. #2 Makita has two different 6 point deep socket sets in a case with the foam, They are 14 piece sets. The 1/2 inch is $84 and the 3/8 inch is $60. The Milwaukee set is over priced.

Hey @VCG construction definitely need to look up the Milwaukee lineman sockets! You will enjoy making a video on them and for the price you get double and move speed in the use

My SNAPON, MAC and Cornwell 3/8" to 3/4" drive impact sockets works just fine with my Milwaukee impact wrenches.

Thanks so much for this great review! Just bought the Milwaukee Fuel Surge impact driver last week to remove screws that wouldn’t budge. It was a very tight space so that driver was the perfect size and very powerful. It’s fantastic. So I wanted to know if I could use it to get the nuts off my mower. I’ve tried everything else. I did buy an impact set with an adapter but this kit you reviewed looks like what I need. I’ll be getting one tomorrow if it’s compatible with my tool. I look forward to watching more of your vids. Btw I’m a S Jersey/Philly girl. Not familiar with VCG but will keep an eye out 👀

I'm glad I seen this video. The impact adaptor are ok fairly strong but can be snapped easy with over tightened or cross threaded items. Those sockets I'd question as you don't want that black mark at the point as it stresses the point and the socket burs off the point and rounds the head. That's the big difference with the other brands as they won't do that. I have kinchrome 1/2 impact sockets (6 point) and force or Taiwan impact 3/8 sockets and both don't leave a black mark. With heavy use the points inside a socket will open up and that will round items. The other wear problem is the socket end becomes bashed open by the head of the impact

Use the impact sockets I have right now with my Milwaukee 1/2 high torque impact for auto work but once they release a full metric set I will definitely be getting them

For 40$ Ill stick with my Tekton Impacts. got a 14 piece metric and a 15 piece standard for 40$ each. Lifetime warranty that I can take a picture of a broken socket send it into tekton and they will mail a replacement.

Yes sir, right there with you. The SAE set being shown, is 7 pieces with a ton of skipped sizes ;) Clearly Milwaukee isn't looking out for automotive / diesel technicians.

Just got a set of 3/8 drive last week from acme. Really nice sockets.

The semi truck and trailer shop on Tuesday had the Milwaukee rep setting up a tool display. I did not notice any sockets. It was tempting to any of the power tools. I spent enough on the repair bill. Gary from Spooner,WI

Just bought the 3/8 metric impact socket set online at Home Depot 2 days ago to match the stubby M12 fuel 3/8 impact wrench I also bought at the same time. Awaiting delivery for today

I just wrote Milwaukee the other day and suggested they release a 3/8 - 1/2 torque / star / spline sets with this awesome labeling for impacts since none of the big manufactures seem to make any. @VCG Maybe You could mention it to a Milwaukee rep next time you're at a show? I think just having that expansive of a line up would make people want their awesome torque wrenches more and allow them to give companies like Snap on a real scare. Hey btw Home Depot has alot of Milwaukee impact driver bit kits at half off!

Great video Vince. I would like to start off by saying I love all my Milwaukee tools. I was almost all in ...I need deep well impact sockets. I have some but I really like the stamped and painted high VIs sockets that you showed. What turned me off 100% was the skipped sockets. I noticed there was no 11/16 in the set. I'm out! Nothing worse than not having all the sizes especially if you are someone that uses your tools and not just collects them. Nothing worse than wrenching on something or disassembling something then trying a 5/8 and realizing you need the next size bigger in your kit doesn't have it. Now what is the guy supposed to do when you have something partially disassembled possibly your vehicle, and you don't have the next size that you really need? I'm out! Fix it Milwaukee!

Yeah i bought the old set from Acme a couple weeks ago and i noticed this came with a socket adapter but no 11/16” socket. 🤔

I bought the Milwaukee impact socket set that has Sae and metric + adaptors extensions and swivel it was like $140 and it was pretty nice. However after about 6 months of everyday use the sockets I used every day were still in good condition but the drive end (end that connects to impact) is all smushed and rounded out almost. I sold the set for about $100 and bought the full Tekton 3/8 impact sae and metric shallow and deep set for $180

Love my Milwaukee tools but I use the Tekton impact sets. The 1/2 “drive set has 13 sockets in plastic case with 3/8 to 1 1/4” no missed sizes. My Milwaukee impact tool has the hog ring

it makes sense that they are going up to a 1 inch drive since they make a 1 inch drive impact wrench....$42 is a good price....2 years ago i bought the milwaukee 7 piece 3/8 drive socket set and it was $50 at HD with no adapter or rail to put them on....just loose sockets in a plastic package.

I bought the metric and standard thin wall sockets out here in Santa Maria ca Home Depot they work good but they don’t stay on my dewalt 3/8 impact gun but I spent 20 bucks on each set on sale so I can’t complain

I love Milwaukee and DeWalt tools for my let’s say carpentry style work. But for more my auto mechanics type work For the price point there are better options available for sockets with life time warranty with them. That white ink that makes it easy to read will wear off if you use them a lot. I can take a white paint marker to my full snap on set and fill in the size engraving if I really cared about. I keep my sockets organized.

For auto work, I looked in their catalog for 3/8” Metric impact sockets and could only find deep sockets, except for an expensive Metric/SAE combo kit. When you work under a car or in an engine bay, access is everything and the Milwaukee stubby 3/8 impact wrench with short Metric sockets is ideal for tearing into a suspension, for instance. Deep sockets are essential as well, but I can save a lot of time if I can get the stubby tool into tight spots, and a set of short Metric 3/8” sockets is important to me. Personally, my SAE wrenches and sockets are in an old toolbox I keep in another room; I only work on imports.

came to this video with one question, how deep does the broaching of the hex go into the socket. Professional sockets, the hex portion of the socket is only deep enough to engage the flats of one nut. On cheap deep sockets the hex goes all the way to the bottom. In this video I did not get a camera angle that showed this.

HI Vince! I am fairly new to the channel. I’m not really into tools, but wow!... you make them exciting! You show people what they can do with them, how these newer tools and innovations open up new possibilities. For me, I saw the amazon beauty of an impact driver, particularly that sexy M12 Stubby impact. I never had one, even thought I purchased and used power drills all the quite often. I knew they existed, but thats about it. I got one, and Wow... I build a workbench in probably 1/2 the time I would have taken. It also gave me the inspiration to build it to being with. I absolutely love my M12 Stubby impact. On a sad note, I loved my driver so much, and because I already had batteries, I purchased an M12 stubby impact wrench.... I went to Home Depot to get the particular socket and a 1/2” adapter that I needed to change the wheels on my truck, I tested it out in the parking lot and left.... but, it turned out that I I left the M12 on my bumper and I did not realize it until the next day. I had it for less than 24 hours. I am in mourning. 😢 Hopefully I can find a good used one before I cave to buying another new one and break the central bank. Ahh Oh, well, hopefully at least mine has found a new home with a caring owner. (Who hopefully wants to return it but doesn’t know where to start). I LOVE YOU WRENCHY!😭

Sorry to hear of your misfortune

I'm a garage door technician and we use deep sockets. I usually go for the chrome non impact rated sockets because it allows me to get into tighter areas but these milwaukee sockets in the 7/16- 1/2 and 9/16 look pretty compact while being impact rated I'll be giving this set a try!

Unless you’re really giving them hell, there’s no reason not to use chrome vanadium sockets with an impact for normal use. When you’re really getting down on them with the impact is when the impact rating is needed. Impact sockets are softer and more ductile so that they don’t shatter; hence the wall thickness being so much higher. Or break stuff loose and tighten with a torque wrench or a big ratchet and use the sockets for speed. Personally I would just run them until they break and replace them. If you use something like snap on or craftsman, they should be warrantied anyway.

@@liquidrockaquatics3900 it's not that they'll break, it's what happens when they *do* break. Shards everywhere, and if you arent wearing safety glasses (lets be honest, a lot of people aren't) those shards will go into your eyes. Any mechanic worth their salt will tell you if you're gonna go with only one set of sockets, go with impact rated ones. Because not only will they handle a gun, they work fine as a hand tool socket as well.

These look nice. Although I recently went with Gearwrench impact sockets... if these were available, I might have picked these. They will need metrics if they want to go after automotive sales though, that's for sure. Would be nice if they came in packout cases...

ouch, hate to hear it. The SAE and Metric set both have skipped sizes . But then again, you might have the right size for the job when you need to use them.

Vince,I have a 1/2 inch stubby when you put any ordinary impact socket on it it rubs on the motor housing ,it also happens with milwaukee ! because it has a concave cut in the end of the socket . I had it changed under warranty and bought British made straight cut sockets which solved the problem . They should have made the anvil 5 mm longer Can you look into this as milwaukee are saying it's not an issue ,however they changed it under warranty ! Would be great if you could do a video of this thanks Andre

How thick are these compared to the cheaper husky sockets or snap-on sockets? I want to upgrade from my fat husky’s since they can’t fit everywhere I stick them.

so the reasons as why myself a car mecanic havent looked for milwaukee's impacts are 1st i had no idea when i got my impacts sets that milwaukee made some 2nd now if i would look for an impact socket set i would look for a complet set from, lets say 3/8 drive, 7mm to 21mm without skipping one size. when i see milwaukee's set they are all like 8 to 12 pieces wich is not enough, i recently bought a 54 pieces set from sunex now thats a good investement

TBH I haven’t been too impressed with their 1/4” impact adapters. I’ve broke 4 sets I bought. Not sure how much I’d trust these too much. I’m a machine builder and assembly line/automation builder in Detroit, MI. (I travel for installs too) My tools work hard daily. The best 1/4 drive adapters I’ve used so far have been Masterforce ones from Menards or the Hercules from Harbor freight.

I couldnt make up my mind... so i bought my brother a 2997-22 m18 and got myself a 2598-22 m12 hammer/ impact set. Lol thanks for the suggestion. I took a look at the socket sets. Not sure why they only have equal sets of shallow and deep. IE 29pc metric deep but no 29pc metric shallow, 19pc SAE deep but no 19pc SAE shallow. Have to get lesser quantity sets if you want equal number of shallow and deep and the case. I actually like the cases.

I like how the driver was almost twice as fast as the wrench

Will the 9/16 socket fit in the channel of deep strut

Has that adaptor snapped yet under your daily workings?

Given that Milwaukee M18 is 1/4 like so many impact drivers, why did they make the sockets 3/8ths?

I like Milwaukee tools, the ones I have work well & have held up through rough use. It is disappointing, especially when it comes to hand tools, guess these sockets are no exception, that they are made overseas. My 3/8 impact sockets I picked up from Cornwell, on a great sale & they're made in Ohio. That means something.

The husky impact sockets are 14.99 , so I can get both sae and metric for 10.00 dollars less but as a Milwaukee fan bot will I ?

I have jobs working on their Carbon/Sulfur analyzers from time to time, and whenever I’m there they ask me to take a couple hours to test some stuff out (and they’re paying $230 per hour to have me there). Usually let me keep the stuff too.

I bought the sockets... I have the thin walled... I lost a few pieces. Lol.. I like the new ones though with the big numbers

I bought a three piece set these for lug nuts cuz I love the markings. they're easy to see but they are a little expensive for a non-usa made sockets. I prefer my hand tools to be made in the USA if they're not too expensive. Don't expect electronic tools like cordless ones to be made in the USA.

I'm an automotive tech. I own a set of Milwaukee impacts and I've never used them. For different reasons but one being a small line up and another no metric stampings. I use a much larger array of metric sockets.
