Milwaukee Ratchet Repair and Rebuild (For All 1/4" & 3/8" Models)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In the previous video, I tried to fix my nonfunctional Milwaukee M12 3/8" electric ratchet by disassembling it, cleaning it, and putting it back together. This fix work s for 9/10 nonfunctional ratchets of this type. Video here:
• Milwaukee M12 Ratchet ...
That, unfortunately did not work as my tool had a broken crank shaft. For that reason I have to disassemble it completely, replace the crank shaft, and reassemble it. The good news? Now it works! Total success. this tool is fixed and 100% operational again.
To find your replacement CRANK SHAFT, find you model number (in a label on the body of the tool) and follow the corresponding link below:

*PLEASE READ* As is all to often the way, it seems a fatal error was made in this video when I used *ANTI SEIZE* instead of lithium. A momentary lapse in judgement which was quickly discovered and pointed out by a few great D&E viewers. I will be tearing this tool apart tonight, and will have a follow up video linked and carded to ensure that no one else makes the same mistakes. As always, I hope you were still able to enjoy this video regardless of the mistake. Thank you to everyone who pointed out my error and prevented me from ruining the tool I just fixed. #monkeywithatoolbox

This has nothing to do with this vid but I'm at a loss my wife wj is over charging the batt from what I have read the voltage reg is in the ECU my question is can I swap it for one a the junk yard? Your knowledge has helped in the past so I figured why not ask.

That should work, but having never tackled that issue before I cannot say 100% that there isnt another area that is causing the issue. I would highly recommend getting on jeepforum.com and asking the question. you WILL get an answer and with WILL be correct. those guys have been dicking around with WJs since the first one rolled off the assembly line in 1999

Thanks for this video and th update about the anti-seize. I have the D54B model and all the parts in the link are for D54A. I couldn't find the corresponding ratchet on the site you sourced. My crankshaft broke and I need a replacement. Just so everyone else knows, don't use these ratchets as a breaker bar lol.

I had hard time having the head locked in place when i think snap ring is tight and secure but when i rotate the head with power button it pops out of the head frame and it broke my spring and spring cap for the little latch to turn left & right… so i ordered a new head anvil service kit and how do i lock the head secure so i dont make the same mistake? Is it the snap ring was the issue not being tight all the way down ?

After putting the anvil back into the head and popping the snap ring in, my switch stops working like something is bound up inside. Any ideas? The switch works right up until I put the snap ring on.

Do you have any ideas about why mine is so weak? Just disassembled and nothing is broken. Only thing I see is needle bearings are allowing crank to wiggle, not transferring 100% rotation to the driver bushing. I Can’t find bearings alone

I’ve already had 2 cranks fail on me, I’m definitely not happy about that, the tool is great but I still use it with the fear of braking it again doing simple repairs. Milwaukee needs to update that part since the 2 times I’ve had them break on me has been removing caliper sliding pin bolts that are torqued to 26 ft-lbs. and before anyone asks no I did not try to loosen them up using the motor of the tool, it was being loosened up by hand before using the motor

My crankshaft just snapped also. Wasnt even putting a ton of force on it. Work bought me the better Fuel version. Just order the new crankshaft and 1/4in anvil. 1/4in is all this thing can handle. Cant believe they even thought about making it 3/8s. The 30ft/lbs it puts out is all it can handle.

With modification you should be able to. I know a lot of people are taking the new 1/4 inch current generation milwaukee ratchets and adding the 3/8 anvil in those from the previous generation. These is some grinding and sanding required with a rotary tool though.
