Milwaukee Metalfest: America's Best Metal Festival?
Ойын-сауық
Milwaukee Metalfest returns this year thanks to Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed. Featuring one of the best lineups I've seen this year I had to check this one out. Also cheers to Milwaukee Metalfest for the photo access and letting me get this amazing footage.

BROOO You guys found my favourite youtuber???
Thanks for the shoutout!! 😈 Would have loved to see Halo effect! 🙌🏼
My band played this fest many times in the 90s. Plus we played the Rave years later as a normal gig. Always rocknroll debauchery to be had in Milwaukee. Best times of my life.
I’m the guitar tech for Thrown Into Exile and believe me, no one was more upset about missing Halo Effect more than us 😂🤘

Yea man that was a bad clash since they're similar genres. Thrown In Exile is great live tho
The Rave is such a awesome concert complex, just wish it had some A/C. I have seen some amazing shows there, from Mudvayne playing the 200 person capacity rave bar, to Slayer playing the huge ballroom

@@taylorredwing6250 it was. LD. 50 just came out, a few months before that, I saw them opening for Slipknot, and Biohazard in the downstairs Rave, they didn't have a album out yet, but they were handing out demo cassettes with Death Blooms, Internal Primates, and Dig. I was hooked when I saw those unknown freaks take the stage

This was my first metal fest I attended and I was super satisfied about everything, walked out bloody with no regrets. Love to go back to it again next year.🤘

Man I wish I could have gone. This sounds like such a good time
Back in 1990 (I think) I was in 10th grade and my first show was the first show of Broken Hope. A few older kids in my high school were in the band. It was at the Libertyville, IL VFW and I didn't really consider it a big deal. They opened for a couple of bands, one of which was "Prisoner." According to Wikipedia, they eventually morphed into Jungle Rot. Hard to believe that all these years later these bands still exist and getting great reviews. I live on the other side of the planet where metal shows are very rare (we have Vader in Bangkok this week however). I would have loved to see the return of the Milwaukee Metalfest!

Dude I used to live in Libertyville. Crazy stuff.
As a younger metalhead I used to always wish to have gone to Milwaukee metal fest. All the older fliers had some of the best heavy bands in their prime. So great to have it finally come back!
Whoah, nice coverage and seemingly a great, nice festival! 🤩 Truth be told, this may be the first festival in the US that makes me think about flying from Germany to Milwaukee. Yes, we have tons of metal festivals here in Germany (Europe in general), but that 3-stage indoor concept in Milwaukee and the line-up is pretty awesome. I just think they could mix a bit more Metal genres in, not just Death Metal but some bits of Black Metal, too...😅

Back in 97 seen Emperor and Mayhem at Milwaukee Metalfest! Also seen Gorgoroth, Death, Limbonic Art. Didn't go this year, but plan on going next🤘
This festival in 2000 was Children of Bodom's first American appearance so it is definitely great
This lineup kinda reminds me of the metal shows and one festival I went to last year. I'm from Philadelphia, so every year, they have the Decibel Metal & Beer Festival. It was two days and had a lineup very similar to this, but they like to throw in black metal and more avant-garde metal bands. I saw Frozen Soul, Undeath, Phobophilic, Incantation, Gorguts, Mizmor, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Suicidal Tendencies were the two headliners. And on separate tours later that year, I saw Obituary with Immolation and Unearth with Revocation (my favorite extreme metal band.)
Bruh, that guy with cluttered patch table is chill af. Ran into him at 4 other US fests.
I was also the Fest and made video on it too! It's great to see this festival return and offer a great metal fest experience on U.S. soil
These videos are great! Appreciate this channel, thanks man!
Would’ve loved to have seen Dark Angel. They fucking rule so hard.
That venue is cool as hell!

Here in Wisconsin we also have MAD WIth Power (named for the capital city of Madison, where the festival is located) Fest, which is organized by the members of our hometown immortals Lords of the Trident. Its lineups tend to skew towards bands with an old-school traditional or power metal-influenced sound (like that of founders LotT, and befitting its name) but it's definitely open to all types of metal. Last year and this year it was/will be held at The Sylvee, Madison's newest major music venue.
Thank you for the coverage! I saw The Halo Effect in Montréal a few days before MMF, and they were spectacular!
can’t wait to see Midnight opening for danzig this september!! also looking into next years Milwaukee metal fest being my first festival ever. great video as always
Dude that venue is amazing holy shit, what a perfect place for a festival
def looking to hit up 2024 edition - line up just keeps getting better and better!
I can attest that The Rave/Eagles Ballroom is a very great venue for metal shows, deserving of its reputation and praise. I was there on the Sunday with my dad, my sister, and her boyfriend thanks to some complimentary tickets I shared with them. I wish my work schedule and monetary power let me go on Saturday to see Fear Factory, but I was glad to come in time to see Machine Head and Lamb of God. I saw a kid crowdsurf multiple times during the MH show, and I got a really nice, ethereal-looking pic of Robb Flynn singing and strumming under some blue lights during "Halo." LoG is on par with Gojira as one of the tightest, most professional and technical performances I saw at the Rave. They also ended up being the first band I moshed to, and I am so glad that it happened. I and my group were swept into it like a whirlpool when the first song came on, to the point I took a fall and was picked back up, instinctively moving towards the circle pit itself in order to flow with the current, as Bruce Lee would have wanted ("be water, my friend"). I got splashed with beer, took a couple headbutts, and fell again, knocking off my Strapping Young Lad face mask and my glasses-- both of which I thankfully held onto-- only for a couple guys, including a heavier-set one, to fall on my chest, blowing out some of my wind. I stumbled a bit back to the sound booth where my dad designated as a meetup spot, having just had the time of my goddamn life. It was cathartic controlled chaos, and a very good outlet for the stress and aggression I felt for the week beforehand. I was glad I had off work the following Monday so I could recover, still exhausted and in pain from surviving my first pit. Thanks, by the way, for teaching me, a native Wisconsinite, how to pronounce "Milwaukee." Shoutout to Jamey Jasta for bringing the festival back. Hopefully, I can attend next year's festival and enjoy it more fully.
very enjoyable to watch thanks wish i could go to something like this

@@wyattsmetal yeah man, it's pretty wild. I had heard rumors from some of the security guys that Buddy Holly was swimming in it after his Milwaukee show which was his last one before he died. I dunno how true that is....lol ...and I'm sure there are loads of stories like it. When you were here did you see the wall where every act that's been there signed it? I don't remember if it's individual dressing rooms or the entire hallway, my last time there was Slipknot in 08 I believe, but I was blown away by how many bands were there and I recognized.
honestly at this point may is going to become a wicked month for metal fests in north america, that whole weekend this year there was Milwaukee metalfest, northwest terrorfest in seattle, hell in the harbor and then the week before was modified ghost festival up in vancouver BC which I went to and it was awesome!. post COVID metal and hardcore has never been better, even the shows are rowdier which is deadly!
Thank you for this. Its brings back the memories of working and going too metal fest. It sucks I missed 11th hour....really sucks.
Definitely the best 🤘
Ended up going to Hell in the harbor that weekend. Nice to see the scene is actually healthy enough for two festivals to coexist without cannibalizing the sales. Merch was pretty lacking over there vendor wise as well but it is what it is
I'm from Bismarck ND and in 1995 my band who lived and breathed death metal went to the Milwaukee Metalfest as fans. It was life changing as we came back to Bismarck and we were way heavier and faster and better than we were before. That summer I was waiting for Cannibal Corpse but what I saw at the Metalfest was the debut of Chris Barnes new band Six Feet Under. That was a highlight of that weekend. So cool that it has returned. Milwaukee!!!!!!
I was there all three days and it was easily one of the best metal festivals I've been to! It also helps that I live like 20 minutes from The Rave. I *really* hope they bring the festival back next year!
Was there for Saturday! Best day ever 🤘
I'm 57 been in several bands to include Marshall Law in Germany. Metalfest was the best place for bands to get recognition and launch a career. I just finished 4 days at Sonic Temple in Columbus Ohio. Danny Wimmer has the best organized Metal festivals in the country these days per bands and fans I interviewed. I have gone to Ink Carceration in Mansfield Ohio many times and Louder Than Life in Louisville as well. Love your vid man. Please come to Ohio and checkout Danny's shows!!! Love to hear your thoughts. CHEERS!!
I was there all 3 days and my god was it a great time. Getting to see Dying Fetus, Napalm Death, Lamb Of God, Misery Index, and many more was a dream come true. This vid is a great summery of my experience. I think a good way to fix the set-time probably is to have a few less bands next year. In any case, that weekend was fire
Great vid !
This is the first time I've seen American metalheads *really* hyped for a festival in a long time. I hope to be able to attend it some day and I hope they stick around because there doesnt seem to be anything like it around this neck of the woods.
thank you for this video I will be going for the first time this year
Me and some friends went to this. It was our first multi day fest, will definably be going again next year
Saw Fear Factory 3 times last year and they killed it every time! Milo is doing an incredible job as the new singer 👍🏽

If this happens again and depending on the line up, would consider coming over from the UK. Venue reminds me of the New England Metal Festival i did way back in 2005, which had one of the first of Obituary's reunion shows at the time. Line up for this looked great, good combination of hardcore, thrash and death. Interestingly enough Jungle Rot are playing my hometown of Manchester next week.

The review reminds me of the ones done by the Metal Maniacs magazine. Bands not sticking to the time slot and some bands only got to play three songs back in the 1990’s. I never went to this festival. Maybe I might go someday. I still need to make it to Maryland Deathfest as well.

I was in the bar for Unearth and they effing killed! I couldn't believe that they were in the bar but at the same time I an glad that they did because it was an awesome experience.

Wow, i though this was held in a field or something. This fest sounded the best to me when Psycho cancled for 2023 but decided to just sit festivals out this year. If Psycho doesn't return next year i may consider this, the lineup is a bit more mainstream for my taste, but its still good. I would have to agree about Midnight, they are the best thing that has happend to metal in the last 20 years, I never miss an opportunity to catch them, the energy they have is insane.

I was down there for night one and it was fucking badass as hell to see all the bands, i had to leave halfway through biohazard because my ride was outside but i was so drained from seeing so many killer bands that i couldn't stand anymore and it did smell like hardcore funk and weed during warbringer...lol
The Rave venue is in a shithole neighborhood but I've gone to countless shows there, including Milwaukee metal fest 07. Lots of good memories. Hopefully the return of MMF will convince bands to stop in Milwaukee again.
I need to go to this! I hope you come out here to Houston for Hells Heroes!
If you're interested in a really cool metal festival that's a 'lil more focused on the Psych and Stoner elements of the genre here in the U.S, I know Desertfest NYC is doing it's thing in September! I went to Desertfest NYC last year and it rocked it!
I love the rave. I prefer to drive up from Chicago to see shows a great venue. I was only there Sunday but it was a hell of a show.
I live in chicago and been following the line up since they announced the show. The reason i did not go is the length of performance for smaller bands. I mean what can you do in 25 minutes? 😢 but it seems so much fun, hope they have fewer bands and longer slots for each of them next year......
@fleatactical7390

That's been the format from the start of this festival and it sucks. The reason behind it was the ticket sales: more bands to pay to play and buy the tickets for resale to their friends... to cover the slimy promoter's ass.
