    I have had a Milwaukee mower for one year now and do not usually use the mulch bag. What I have noticed about it the few times that I did use it though, around the back corners of the bag, it is starting to fray and come apart. I don't allow it to get as full as it could when using it so there is no extra weight on the corners. Also, the few times I have used it, I use my blower to make sure I put it away clean, mostly bc I don't want to drag any debris into my garden shed. I am probably too particular about my lawn and lawn equipment. When I pay this much for a mower, I expect it to last. Other than that, it is a fantastic mower, I have had no issues with it. I did purchase two extra batteries so that I can rotate them between uses. I purchased the blower and multi attachment string trimmer. The trimmer is great...the blower is not much to write home about.....this review is after one year of use of all the pieces.

    This is a great start for Milwaukee in the landscaping side of tools, they are also working on a Ride on mower and a Zero Turn. Now I’m assuming that the zero turn will fall under the MX Fuel line and the ride on could be running off 4 x 12.0. But this is all speculation at the moment. I’m currently waiting for my mowers to show up at my Red Zone as I already have 13 pre orders for them. In Canada they are selling for $1289 - $1349

    Nice to finally see a positive review on Milwaukee's mower. Most reviews on this mower have problems galore with shutting down for no reason. Since some people have problems with the 12ah batteries not charging all the way up, I wonder how this mower will run with 6 ah or 8 ah ?

    I bought an electric start TORO years ago and it was $1000 Canadian dollars, so around $800US. It has a full blade clutch, so it runs with the blade stopped, and it has the self propelled drive that you just start walking and it moves at your speed. Milwaukee seems to have made it into a real mower, rather than the plastic deck garbage we see in basically all the others out there, so the price isn’t out of line. I note that their controls and their function are very similar to the TORO I have, and I have always liked how they are set up, and how they work.

I have a huge collection of Milwaukee tools for my cabinetry business, so I’m use to the price premium. But at $1000 I was a little sticker stock, however after using it I understand the price tag. Excellent review. I like the lawnmower so I just picked up one at Northern tools. By far the best price on this particular lawnmower. I will try it with the original blade, but I will get the high lift blade next weekend. Looks very solid. I had an EGO 8.3 torque with the 10AH battery. It was a total disappointment because even when I went forward and backwards it left an excessive amount of stragglers. Hate it. So I return it and got this Milwaukee M18 2823-22HD.

    I just discovered this existed. I waited for this mower for years but I eventually had to upgrade and this didn’t exist. Seeing the price and the inability to buy this without batteries, I am glad I purchased the Ego for $750. The battery is great and charges fully in less than an hour and lasts me more than I need. I also like how the Ego seems to fold easier and the plastic deck won’t rust. I was a bit skeptical of the all plastic design but it’s holding up well. The self propelled is also easier to use with the ego. However, the lights on the Milwaukee are nice. Kind of disappointed with Milwaukee on this product but at least it hasn’t made me regret buying the ego.

    I "had" to buy an electric mower last year due to shoulder surgery and not being able to do the pull cord anymore. If Milwaukee would have had a mower I would have bought it since I have Milwaukee tools and a variety of batteries. I was wondering when you put batteries in, do they have to be the same amperage? I've had some of my friends ask if a battery power mower last long enough? My answer has been "I last long enough for me" since I'm getting a little older and don't want/can't mow my yard in one 2 hour session. It gives me a reason to come in and take a break. Great video review. As soon as my Ego battery dies, I'll be getting a Milwaukee, hopefully a second generation when they come out.

  • @edb1913

    This might be a pretty lengthy review, but I want to give an average homeowners perspective. I was leery of trying another electric mower after being less than impressed with an Ego. A few years ago I bought what was at the time the second from the top of the line Ego, which was rated at 7.0 ft. Lbs. of torque. It was very underwhelming, and I doubted the torque numbers based on gas mowers i had owned that had the same amount of torque. I have a lawn that’s a little over a quarter acre maybe .26 or .27. The Ego produced lots of clumps even after trying the different blades it came with, and I had to mow very slowly to prevent this. It also could not mow my entire yard without draining the battery. It died after completing about 90% of my lawn. After watching about every review of the Milwaukee on KZread I decided to give it a chance. I know 1100 is a lot to spend on a residential mower which is what I consider this thing, not using it commercially for cleanup where the zero-turns can’t reach. After my initial mow I can say that this is a keeper for sure as long as it holds up. I dont usually bag, preferring instead to side discharge and then rake. For the sake of this review I decided to bag the clippings from my front lawn which is about 65 % of my lot. The grass wasn’t exactly wet but still had a lot of moisture from three days of showers which had ended a few days previously. I had it set on the second from lowest setting and was probably cutting from two to three inches of grass. It handled this with ease and never kicked into high rpm mode. I should mention that i mowed with the speed barely at three on the dial. I mowed the side and the back with side discharge and the back wasn’t very tall but still wet with morning dew. When i was done it had at least 25% juice left if the gauge is linear. It had two bars still lit but the third bar had been on for a good while so I dont think it would have been long before it was down to one bar. I wanted an electric that would mow my entire lawn on one charge and that had ample power. This thing appears to be as powerful as advertised. I think if I mowed dry grass and used side discharge and then raked as I usually do It might only use half the charge or a little more. The cut quality was fantastic and the only stragglers i had were areas that I missed. There was zero clumping, it never bogged down once. It’s a lot of money for sure, and I wasn’t sure it was going to perform up to my expectations, but it did. I can honestly say the cut quality is better than any gas mower i’ve ever owned. If you can justify the cost you can’t go wrong.

    Torn between waiting for this mower or buying the EGO LM2135SP. Whichever I end up getting I also intend to get the same platform blower and string trimmer/edger. Any insight? Not a business just working in my own yard and my tools need a serious upgrade. I like the Milwaukee mower but like the EGO 765 CFM blower. My lawn isn't huge, 2500 sq. ft. so both are overkill but they are the two I am looking at.

    I’ll have to wait for some real footage of mowing wet overgrown grass. I seen the test footage against the Honda petrol mower. But I’m not convinced.. they didn’t mention what rpm’s the Honda was set at. When I got my Honda the rpm’s were set to 2800.. most contractors will adjust the rpm’s straight up to 3600. The difference between 2800 to 3600 is night and day. So if the test mower was set at 2800 then it’s already an unreliable test. As a contractor I’m happy to pay a premium price for a battery mower and really looking forward to making the switch. But it needs to hit 3600 rpm, have more torque then the Honda 216 and have a runtime of at least 30 minutes going through the worst of the worst. If they can give me that. I’ll buy it.

    If your yard is small, you could easily use their 8amp batteries same power, less run time, how long does it usually take to mow your lawn? Your could probably get 30 minutes out of those if you are cutting 2.5" inches or less. Milwaukee will be launching a 15amp battery soon which will be ideal for commercial applications for this mower. But many homeowners will buy this as well and that size of battery is overkill for them. The new generation from 6-12amp/hrs all have the better 21700 cells so you get the same level of power. But if you think you are going to use the older 5amp batteries from your drill kits...don't, it will make the machine under perform at every level.

    Has anyone seen 'approved' methods to clean it, being an electric. Obviously don't fill the battery compartment with water, but what are the restrictions to hosing out the deck underneath? BTW it has so much self propel torque it can pull you off balance easily if you're not paying attention... it cut all but 4 stripes of 5500 sqft of the first overgrown mow with the bagger using 8ah batteries while the charger was charging the 12's. I'm happy with it, even with the painful price tag.

    I used to have a self-propelled JC Penney mower (gasoline) several years ago and it had front wheel drive. It was so easy to use because just pushing down on the handle stopped it going forward instantly. I haven't been able to find another mower with front wheel pull. Maybe someone will design a battery mower with that feature.

    I had a Toro Whirlwind back in the 70's. Those were front wheel drive, I always liked that. You never had to disengage the power to wheels, just lift the front by pushing down on the handle.

  • @thebordernow

    @thebordernow

    2 жыл бұрын

    My uncle had one of those front-wheel, self-propelled mowers about 50 years ago. I thought the setup was most unusual. Instead of a drive mechanism directly connected to the front wheels, it had a chain-driven axle in the front mounted Above the two front wheels. On the axle mounted above each front wheel, and made of hard rubber, was what essentially looked like a 3-inch diameter, 2 inch-wide "gear" when seen from the side. Picture a 3-inch diameter wheel but instead of a smooth-rolling surface, it had full-width regularly-spaced depressions the entire way around the "wheel" so that it looked, from the side, like a "gear." Now, the genius here was that my uncle's mower's front wheels were not your typical smooth wheels. They too looked like a big "gear" from the side. So you engaged the self-propel mechanism by lowering the drive axle down onto the front wheels, and since both sets of wheels had a "gear" meshing shape, the drive axle was driving the front wheels like they were big gears! Rather simple mechanical genius. However, I don't think the design lasted too long and was never widely adopted because it was fully exposed and you can see how the leg of a pants or something else could get enmeshed into these exposed mating "gears." The demise of this front-wheel drive design was probably a victim of product liability concerns.

  • @thebordernow

    @thebordernow

    2 жыл бұрын

    The nice thing about front-wheel drive propelled mowers was that you lift the front wheels anyway to make right angle or U-turns so it was perfect not having to fight the self-propelling mechanism wanting to keep going forward when you wanted to make a turn.

    Good looking mower and I’m a Milwaukee guy but I’m also a professional landscaper. I will continue to use a gas mower for as long as California lets me use one. The grass you cut was not really that tall and it wasn’t wet. I’ve got the entire Milwaukee quick lock system and the m18 chainsaw. The string trimmer overheats every time when cutting thick weeds on a warm day. My m18 chainsaw drains a battery fast when making big cuts and I’ve overheated it as well. I used to use an ego lawn mower on the job and I was much happier after getting a simple toro gas 190cc mower. The battery stuffs great for small jobs but it doesn’t work very well for a someone with a large property. For a professional using only battery tools is crippling. These bastards in California have banned the sale of all small gas engines 2024.
