I’m a commercial electrician and I use this tool for EVERYTHING. The offset head is great for mounting boxes to studs. I love the clutch settings, as I can use them to tighten set screws on devices without worrying about them stripping out. WONDERFUL little tool!

I agree. The power is definitely better with a 6ah

If it had a normal forward and reverse toggle switch it would be perfect.

Yeah, I agree. I think their reasoning is that it’s an entry level do it all drill for the average Joe that doesn’t use tools often. Then the button toggle is easier for those type of users, and people that use tools professionally will just deal with it.

@@Zozo806 After about 20 hours working with it now I’m completely used to the button. I would still prefer a ‘normal’ forward/reverse switch, but it’s not a dealbreaker for me. I rate this tool 9.5/10.

Bosch and DeWalt both have a version. I'll be buying the M12. Offset/right angle combo is close to magic.

Unless I need more power, I use this for everything!!! Definitely one of my favorite tools. The only thing I don’t like is the hand guard. I wish it either wasn’t there or removable.

i'd also like a traditional forward/reverse switch. a soft start would be cool to control the initial torque

I dig it, Milwaukee makes alot of cool specialty tools. It's nicer for that more delicate stuff like Yoh said and you don't have to be constantly listening to the Impact hammer rattling away just for some small (but maybe many) fastners. Some tools also just look right for the part and this one I think nails it.

The Bosch Chamaeleon is a very nice one as well not as powerful as the Milwaukee but again it’s a full finesse precise tool and then of course you have festool which I hear great things about but price tag high and no offset included

the Brushless Bosch 12v Flexiclick is just as powerful as this drill. You are thinking of the brushed version of the drill.

How is the trigger control/speed for installing small screws? Is there a lot of deflection when drilling with the jacob’s attachment? I tested out the festool cxs and it’s pretty awesome for the fine work because of the trigger control but it’s $315 for the kit and another extra hundred or so dollars you’d need to spend on their proprietary centrotec bits, etc. Would love to get your input on the trigger and deflection if possible before I pull the trigger on the Milwaukee. Thanks again for the great content!

I wouldn’t use this for a small screw installation. I would use Milwaukee’s installation driver for that which is much better suited

Yea just got mine off of Amazon for $175 for the kit. Pretty sweet been using it more than my m18 impact lol The light on it sucks bad location.

Festool CXS - less power but better ergonomics. The Milwaukee is also rather nice, however the forward/reverse selector is a huge downside imo.

Hey I own the M12 impact that is continuously refered to. I was hoping if u could do a video where u compare them both. On metal wood and other tools with metal screws and such. I'm an HVAC tech and I need two drills to get most of my job done and if u could do that for me I could drop my tool count at work.

I’m a data tech and I screw 5/16 into metal studs all day just got this tool seems to work well, really light weight great for the tops of scissor lifts

Been debating about this I’m a Milwaukee addict but dewalt has one that looks like and normal drill but I think the battery is small

If you don't need the magnetic screw holder then yea, otherwise Milwaukee takes it. the screw holder is awesome when you're cramped up in a cabinet space and can't easily reach back to your tool pouch.

NO IT'S NOT. Anyone who has ever been in a cramped space and struggled to get to their tool pouch or pocket to get out screws, loves the magnetic front handle.

You posted this a couple of years ago, so maybe you've seen more of these type of multi chuck drills now, but since you stated you were unaware, here is the info. The only tool makers that do not make multi chuck drills like these are the japanese - Makita and Metabo HPT. All the german companies make them, and now the US as well. The german companies make them in 18/20v tools too, often with expanded capabilities - tapping chucks, SDS rotary hammer chucks, etc. In the US we get mostly 12v drills, although Bosch, Fein, and Metabo sell their multi chuck 18v models as well. In 12v we have the Milwaukee - actually their 3rd gen of this kind of drill, they just never sold the earlier models in the US. We get Bosch Flexi-click in both brushed and brushless 12v, we have DeWalts 12v extreme 5in1, and Hilti also has a 12v multi chuck drill. And topping off is the Metabo (german metabolize) has brushed and brushless models in 12v. Thats a lot to not know about! Last but not least, if you don't use the lame bag that comes with this drill, you might like having a ChukRak to keep your chucks from getting lost. You can get one at chukrak.com

I have this AND the CXS. This is far more powerful

I work on office furniture of all kinds. I also do cabinetry. I own 40 M12 tools and a whole bunch of packout. I DO NOT OWN THIS TOOl. I have no interest in it. The piece of plastic in front of the trigger is an absolute deal breaker. It defeats the whole purpose of having a compact gun to get into tight spaces. Instead I have a Bosch Flexi-Click. It's smaller and in my opinion better in every way. It is the only Bosch tool I own.. it was hard decision at first because I was so invested in the M12 platform. In the end I'm extremely happy with the Bosch

The magnetic holder on the handle grip is why it's. there. You don't have to keep reaching for screws in tight situations. It's actually REALLY useful in those spots. If you've never had a chance to see it for yourself, it's hard to appreciate it.

All of my drills and drivers have a magnet screwed into the Rosette of the belt clip on the one side that does not have the belt equip itself. The design of the Milwaukee gun is still stupid. It is literally the only tool for M12 that I will not buy

@@arthurcontinelli6347 probably, but I've worked with it for years now, on all kinds of things, and I've never had it get in the way. I've never read a complaint about it getting in the way from anybody that used the drill, only from people that ruled out using the drill. Its not perfect, but the "guard" is not one of its problems.

@@MadLadsAnonymous yeah, I’m waiting on the 18v Bosch flexiclick to go on sale, lol. I also saw a video where Milwaukee filed a patent for an 18v version (realllly hoping that’s true)

To each their own. I thought it was awkward, too big and overpowered for its advertised purpose. And the fat bulbous handle is a joke for a tool thats supposed to be for the detail work not the rough-in. . A chefs cleaver instead of a scalpel. And don't get me started on the direction control being on the top. Only Milwaukee tool I have ever returned.

How often do they update things like this? I would hate to get one and then see a new generation out for Labor Day.

Not very often. Its generally a few years before they put out anything significant.
