Milwaukee Circular Saw Won’t Turn On (Fixed)

Ғылым және технология

This video shows how I fixed an issue with a Milwaukee M18 Brushless Circular Saw where it would not turn on when the trigger was pulled. The trigger would click and the light would turn on, but the saw blade would not spin. The issue appears to have been caused by some buildup on the contacts inside of the trigger switch.

for those who have the good switch on both tracks and it still doesn't work try to solder the golden pads of the diod . Because they are lose and dont make good contact. That was the problem in my case.

Thank you so much! I was told by the store that the switch was part of the engine assembly, explaining the estimated $199 repair cost when sent in after warranty. I actually just pulled the switch out and used CRC QD Electronic Cleaner spray liberally into the switch box holes without even disassembly, and bam! I have a working saw again! Zero dollars! Thank you for your video showing how simple to get at this is. And shame on Milwaukee for estimating this cost for such a likely simple issue.

thanks! This video helped me get my saw working again. I also took it too far apart, so the tutorial on that hidden spring (that I lost and replaced) was great. I was a bit concerned when working on it that the trigger didn't have much range of motion when assembled compared to on it's own, but that turned out to be normal. Working perfect!

Thank you. Followed this guide and it fixed my problem. I would say it’s not difficult to do but requires a methodical, careful approach. Take your time. I cleaned the contacts with very fine (wet and dry) paper after a wiping with cloth. Contact cleaner fluid would be useful if you have some. Worked first time.

Good stuff, fixed my saw. I added some dielectric grease on the face of all the contacts, hopefully that will keep the contact faces cleaner. Likely not entirely milwaukees fault, whoever they sourced the switch from fell short on type of metal used on contacts, expected amp draw and arc produced, etc. In industrial contacts that would have a capacitor across the contacts (along with the diode) to absorb the arc created when contacts are opened and closed. Its called a "quench arc". You will notice in the video that the control contacts (small wires) are the contacts that are failing to close. Mine was the same.
