Milwaukee Bucks-centric 2024 NBA Draft Boards

Спорт

The 2024 NBA Draft is barely a week away, so Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti of the Gyro Step podcast compiled and shared their full big boards of players who should be available at Milwaukee’s 23rd overall pick and discussed their rankings. For this exercise, Ti and Rohan only considered players who were available at 23 or below in at least one of three big boards: ESPN, The Ringer, and Bleacher Report.
This meant the following players were discussed: Kel’el Ware, Tristan Da Silva, Kyshawn George, Bobi Klintman, Isaiah Collier, Tyler Smith, Jaylon Tyson, DaRon Holmes, Tyler Smith, Kevin McCullar Jr., Baylor Scheierman, Pacome Dadiet, Tyler Kolek, Justin Edwards, Ryan Dunn, A.J. Johnson, Kyle Filipowski, Johnny Furphy, Cam Christie, and K.J. Simpson.
Ahead of the big board discussion, Ti and Rohan shared their thoughts on the Boston Celtics and old friend Jrue Holiday winning the 2024 NBA Championship, and on if the Bucks would come to terms with any of their own free agents given the rule change in the last CBA that means teams can negotiate with their own FAs starting the day after the Finals end.

Normally Im pretty in lockstep with you guys but this draft process has been interesting at how different we've got it. Two of my top guys in the class are Holmes and Dunn based off of their tape, athleticism, and defensive fit. Think you are discounting players too much based on thinking you'll find an athlete that also has a knock down jumper at #23. I'm much more interested in guys with real strengths that can step in early and push for minutes. Sidenote: Edey would be a wild experiment if we were to keep Brook for the remainder of his deal and really mentor the kid. As a Purdue fan his growth year to year has been crazy to watch. We'll see if he falls to us.

I loved the idea of Crowder but looking back, 5 second round picks for bro to sit there and flex for two seasons what not what I had in mind…

Edey rated too highly on all the mocks to be considered for this. The others were lower than most players we considered when we did this exercise, but we'll continue scouting more players ahead of the draft next week.

Was this analysis solely data-based? I get the sense you haven't seen many play, or even read scouting reports. There's more to the game than wingspan, combine drill #'s, & box scores. My big board is very different.

No, we share standard data to set a baseline for the prospects and then rank and speak on them based on a combo of that and what we saw when we watched them.

@@WatchGSPN OK, you didn't literally scout zero, but it's data-led, & the majority of the discussion was data-based. Vis a vis the Holmes analysis, for example, you note his not lack of size. It's better than Horford's, who you're both bemoaning is still around & just won a chip. They're just good players. Holmes is a 3-level scorer who can create, pass, & has d awareness. He has more athleticism than Bobby. Bobby would be a good pick at 23, & Horford great.
