Milwaukee 46" Steel Storage Chest and Cabinet -- Awesome tool box
Milwaukee continues on with their goal to be innovative. Their storage solutions are designed to be functional, durable and contain organization options that DIY'ers and professional's need on a daily basis. Durability in an affordable tool cabinet can be hard to find, along with heavy duty drawers and slides. The Milwaukee Tool Storage Chest has 16 drawers that are 100lb soft close slides and 2 drawers that have a second set of slides which enables them to support 200 lbs. All together the 46” Steel Storage Chest and Cabinet can support 1,800 lbs. The built-in power centers and a pull-out work surface for using and storing a laptop or documents is nice especially when a computer is needed for many jobs today.

Trying to buy this box slightly used locally for $275. Really hope it works out. Great straight forward clear overview!
I like the flat finish alot!
Great video. Thank you.
Great video! Very helpful. Thank you!
This one is definitely on my wish list.
Its easy to flip the power strip. 6 screws and rotate it : ) I did it on mine for both the top and bottom box

That's literally the first thing I did
I saw the box in HD last weekend and I completely agree regarding the paint. With the flat sand finish. It makes the box look weathered and old. Almost like it was left out in the sun for about a year. I picked up the Husky 52" top and bottom about 2 months ago. Very similar design. If Milwaukee was going to release this in the 52" size I would have waited and grabbed it.
I have a snap on at work but would love to either have this or the Dewalt in my garage. Thanks for the review guys!!
You can flip that 6 Splitter very easily undo the screws, flip it around.
Great video; very helpful, thanks! I've been very impressed w/the floor model at Home Depot, & will likely get the 30" model soon...
Just purchased today at home depot, putting together tomorrow
Love it. I'm hoping to get mine for Christmas. Great review. I'm a Milwaukee junkie.

I looked at this one the husky and dewalt for 2 hours at least. The features on the Milwaukee sold me
LOVE the power tool organizer drawer with battery holder, the drawer liners that keep things from sliding around, and the power strip is handy! #WorkshopAddict
Thats a bad ass box.
Nice review
got the shed. Need the tool chest. Like how you started with the casters. #workshopaddict.
I love all of the different storage spaces, especially the power tool part. Also the fact that its built to last and that the drawers can each handle 100 lds is really nice! #WorkshopAddict
Thanks for the review Brian. That looks like a really nice setup. I have the Husky but would trade for this one if I could.
Really like the pull out work space for setting a tablet or laptop on to give them a safe place to sit while I'm working on my truck!! #workshopaddict
Fantastic peace of cit Id love one
I talked to a rep and they said they put the switch in the back because when it's in the front people tend to accidentally bump it off, then when they grab a battery it's still dead. Another tip, you can switch the little drawer lock with the bottom cabinet lock. That way one key will unlock both the top and bottom and the other key is just for the security drawer.
nice box im gonna check it out at home depot

They have a 60" workstation and a 30" tool chest coming out soon also.
I like the independent locking drawer, the superwide single drawer, and the power strip. #WorkshopAddict
I like the soft close and and the amount of weight the drawers can hold. Also the built in power bar in the top shelf in this video. #workshopaddict
I like the built in power and all the storage #WorkshopAddict
Got this tool cabinet the other day. Would've liked some better instructions on putting it together but that's a minor gripe. Overall, a well designed and built, versatile tool cabinet. Note well, it is very heavy so any lifting should be at least a two man job, probably more.
I like the soft close drawers. #WorkshopAddict
Theres gonna be a version 2 of this, its very nice too.

I really like this box, but will probabbly end up getting a 52" version. (I wish Mulwaukee made a top/bottom that was!) I've also heard that the drawers are relatively shallow for this box?

nfavor This has pretty deep drawers compared to most mechanics tool boxes. FYI, MILWAUKEE has a new larger model coming out very soon.
I got this tool box as it's roomy and I like it has tag workshop at

I knew this was the toolbox for me as soon as I seen it. I just wanted to wait for a testing review. I also knew that the paint would be a issue for me not only because of the chemical make up which you touched on brilliantly, but because of company's self imposed limitations ie: only one color. Will you be giving it any further testing? Would be possible to paint it? Or Rin-O Spray it? Or what do you suggest to help clean and control the
This toolbox is amazing and seems to be made well #WorkshopAddict
I really like the finish on their tool boxes and I'm a smaller guy and that top isn't ridiculously high. #workshipaddict

also if you check out my messy shed tour you'll see the pathetic toolbox I've been dealing with for 20 years. it was OK when I was 17. but I've seriously out grown it. I drool over this every trip to HD
I'd love to get one of these, solve the full 26" craftsman chest issue and give a home to the wayward tools on my benches. #WorkshopAddict
Had bought 2 husky toolboxes in over 4 years of being a mechanic they only last 2 years at a time. Not really heavy duty. I was leaning to going to craftsman or this new Milwaukee brand toolbox. Home depot also has the dewalt toolbox. Anyone here can help me out on opinion? My toolbox has to be strong and able to take a beating. I roll to every where machine to machine. It has to take a beating due to cement flooring and bumps. Thanks again for any recommendations. 👌👌👌👍
I have noticed that a lot of the tool channels have recently reviewed this same tool chest.Does Milwaukee donate tools to you? This box looks very good.

Bigchuck678 I think there are two factors in why you are seeing this tool chest all over. One, it is a very nice tool chest and I for one have wanted one since I seen it was going to be released. Second, Milwaukee might be doing some promotions, but I am not sure.
Awesome review. As for keeping the matte finish looking good, try the guys over at Chemical Guys they have a special cleaning solution for Matte paint jobs. Take care

Great review. So does it stain ? Or cleans up ez ? I know the Dewalt toolbox had negatives in regards to grease or stains not coming out .. thanks
@WorkshopAddict
6 жыл бұрын
We work in oil and grease and since it is flat, it will show it. But we have never had it stain. When we clean our hands up, we use the rag and wipe off the toolbox and tools. To us, it is the same as the older craftsman red tool boxes as far as keeping it clean.
Hi Brian, Nice review. If I'm correct, aren't there 2 power strips on this box, one on the top and one on the bottom ?Thanks,Bob
@WorkshopAddict

You are correct, there is one on the top box (inside upper area) and one on the bottom (right side when you face the unit from the front). I find I use them a lot more than I thought.
I like something about this video. I need a new tool chest mine is falling apart
Another one that will look good in my garage #Workshopaddict
Great informative video, as always. #workshopaddict
How does it compare to that Craftsman in the back? The standard duty and heavy duty just don't feel study enough for me at Sears.
@WorkshopAddict

SidewaysInTraffic The Black Craftsman is a professional model that I bought on Black Friday last year. The drawers slide easier on the Craftsman, but do not close as nice as the Milwaukee. The casters on the Craftsman suck. IMHO, the Milwaukee has it beat.

I really like the look of this box. But the demo i looked at had a lot of play side to side on all the drawers. Is this normal? The box I have now is about 15 years old and has less play in it. A lot of new boxes seem to be like this but I dont know if this is just a demo problem or if this is the new norm...
@WorkshopAddict

not normal!
Brian, great review thank you ! I associate Milwaukee with construction tools. How would you think this tool box would do in a car shop / as a pit box.
@WorkshopAddict
8 жыл бұрын
The box would hold up fine, but take a hard look at it to see if it will hold your hand tools like you want. There are not a lot of skinny drawers like most mechanics boxes have. We use it as our auto box, but we have 2 others in the shop.
@CR3DT

it seem like the top box drawers has many shallow drawers right? - i just look at snap-on offerings (not that I m looking to spend that $$$-$$ on that) but it seems like the feature set on the Milwaukee is great. What other tool boxes do you have? BTW is the white logo on the lip painted on? (can it be removed)
@WorkshopAddict
8 жыл бұрын
+Cesar Rullier Yes the top has some shallow drawers, but if you lay your wrenches out in the drawer, you end up with a lot of wasted space. We have this Milwaukee 46", a Craftsman Pro 52", a Milwaukee 30", a Milwaukee 60" workstation and two Husky 46" workstations. The Milwaukee logos are stickers and can be removed.
I know. Matcos are twice the price.
Like my Denim painted Harley it is very easy to clean, get yourself some windex, spray and wipe off. Do not rub or buff (creates a shiny spot). Although it may be easy to roll around at least you should not be collecting 70 mph bug guts. 🤣

***** I agree with your description of the tool box's target demographic. I love all of my Milwaukee tools. However, the presenter did taut its use for mechanics working in public spaces, thus my comment.
I respect the fact that is a a good box but is sold out everywhere. this makes me not want to even buy it now. went to three home depot places and they don't have it . I feel like Milwaukee customer service is bad and the amont of products they make s bad too. And they want to raise their price up .

Eric ernillaso This same thing happened with the first Dewalt tool box. It was priced well and sold out right away. It is finally back and cheaper than it was originally on the market for. I just checked and home depot is sold out online. Sorry bud. I really like the box and would wait for it.
I like the independent locking drawer, the superwide single drawer, and the power strip. #WorkshopAddict
