Thomas, your statement on who would want to have a drug dealer living next to them is created by the war on drugs. If drugs are legalized, the drug dealers are replaced by legitimate business. The dirt ball drug dealers are gone. Second, people can grow their own and by pass business and the now current dealers. We could take a fraction of the dollars we are spending on the war on drugs and direct it to rehab, prevention, and education.

Unfortunately our government refuses to listen to reason and continues down an unsustainable path. The government is in a perpetual state of being “ban” happy. Maybe for the same reasons the FDA was slow at approving drugs. Just don’t want to be blamed. I was in a country where pot was decriminalized. It was an interesting few weeks watching mostly young people enjoy their new liberties out in public, but after a while things just went back to normal.

@MattNorth9811
3 жыл бұрын
In a free market, there wouldn't be drug dealers. There would be legal companies who can rely on the government to protect them from violence. When drugs are illegal, drug dealers can't go to the law if there products are stolen, and they can't hope to protect their products from every single person who wants to steal so they have to give an extremely tough image to deter people from trying to take their products. They need a reputation for severely punishing even the slightest infraction. Hence the need to be confrontational, and even to do premptive strikes, especially if you are worried about another cartel getting more power than you. There is also the natural incentive to violently eliminate competition. None of this would exist under a state that legalizes the sale of drugs. If a cartel tried to attack a legitimate buisness that sold drugs the government would crush them. The problem is that the government will tax legal companies to death, which raises the prices and allows the cartels to continue selling at less expensive prices.
