One of the best docos I've seen. Love the quirky little town of Coober Pedy.

My brother in law Bernard Lennon drives the bull dozer and brother in law George Cooley was a miner too they both in the video 👍

My Grandfather owned the Acropolis and my family is from Coober Pedy thanks so much for uploading this.

I remember that restaurant, it got blown up I think? I had family there for years, went to high school there too a couple of times. Wow the years fly by must get back there one day.

Wow Top Doco, Foxtel should get some tips from these old films and use them in season 2 of Outback Opal Hunters.

Temps are way up now past 36Deg C :) Gee I like those light blue stones ! Ahhh he mentions 45 Deg C later in the video, now thats more like it. LOL Awesome video showing the lifestyle and not just the opal mines. TY for an excellent production.

great doco , ya see those old holdens worth more than the opal these days.

Hello from lightning ridge opal miner here

This film may well have been made or released in 1982 but these folks were still clearly stuck in the 70's. Having grown up in the 60's, 70's and early 80's, I get a kick out the clothing and dance styles etc. It's funny. PS> A shaft that once cost as much as $200 probably wouldn't get drilled for less than a $2000 today.

4 C is just fine by me. The 45 isn't so nice. Here it can be anywhere from -35 c to 45 c

This video must be pretty old. Only 10x the value of gold is a low ball value. Upwards of $30k per carat. Thats slot more than 10x the value of gold. And the price of gold is pretty high right now.

The last video said that cooler pedy met white man's hole

Can I have a job as the post man please, you see I had to quit my job , ever since I have been struck with the fever.
