@@Eglehalo4 They do great work, and if you're done riding for the season by all means send it in. But I was going to buy a new cylinder and piston and called them first (I didn't care about the extra cost). They talked up their turn around time and said 10-14 days after its received. 6 Weeks later after multiple calls I found out my cylinder was sitting in the back room ready to ship for 4 days even though my account had notes saying (please ship asap, work is weeks late). When I shipped my cylinder I felt like I made the right choice, after it was done I felt like they could care less about my business.

Sometimes that is the case, but we can provide several reasons why our NSC plating is far more superior than OEM. Any questions on our process, feel free to give us a call direct at: (920) 893-5595. Thanks!

Millennium is great...always use them...but they should not be bragging about getting bores withing .001". That is not really a tolerance suitable for fitting of pistons. Being off .0005" can cost you a lot of life.

No offense but I would be surprised if the OEM factories even get their cylinders between a half a tenth. When it comes to cylinders you get like a 3 thou variation tolerance.

@@Micscience ??? Do you own any bore gauges? Do you do any motor work on modern Nikasil motors? FYI I happen to have a 2007 YZ250 Service Manual PDF on this PC. So here is a reality check. What is the OEM bore tolerance? 3.0315-3.0319. (77.00-77.01mm) That is a .0004" range, or +/-.0002" on the median. Two TENTHS....not 3 Thou.... Replacement (or replating limit) is .002" max taper or out of roundness from the OEM spec. You may be confusing maintenance limits with OEM or new spec. Millenium and similar shops can easily hold +/- .0002" if you ask them. You are way way wrong on the .003 variation.

  • @Micscience

@@shooter7a Yea your my memory served me wrong. My cr125 manual has a tolerance of .0003 tenths. I do own a bore gauge and inside mics, lathes, milling machine and from what I experience is everyone exaggerates the tolerances they achieve. Though I was definitely wrong. 1 thousandth isn't that great maybe millenium achieves a better tolerance but guarantee a .001 tolerance to give them some wiggle room.

@@Micscience it happens... Mfg tolerances to today's bikes are quite stringent. In fact, the tolerances on just about any mass manufactured item made in Japan, Europe, Taiwan, South Korea, etc (ie...where they actually use modern machine tools) are phenomenal. In the US...? Hit or miss....sadly.

Just got off the phone with them, the rudest person I have talked to in a long time, asked if a bronze bushing epoxied in a YZ250 cylinder would be a problem "service tech" says that any bronze that is not protected by epoxy will be eaten away, I say "USchrome says if they mask it then it will be ok" "Tech" says well send it to them" I say "it's that easy?" he says, "yes" and slams the phone down. He could has talked with me and suggested an alternative like,, maybe remove the bushing and they'll replate the cylinder and I could put the bushing back in? But no, just be rude and hang up the phone. Avoid.
