As a gen Z I feel you. I got older gens telling me to just go in a store and tell them to give me a job(despite not having the qualifications. Why would I need a college diploma to work retail tf?maybe it’s just where I live) and other older generations telling me all mental illnesses are invalid and misdiagnosed just because more people have been diagnosed. Somehow I’m always the problem for existing.

I never understood the millennial disses. I feel like the millennial disses were made to drive a wedge between Gen y and z. Gen y and z are more alike than they are different. As a millennial, I've had way more positive experiences with gen Z. Also, gen z memes and humor was the best imo.

I'm a teenage girl, gen z. I feel you. Im very interested in historical/vintage fashion and music throughout every time period. You would think older generations would be happy someone likes the same things they do but sometimes they're mad 😭. You cant win no matter what you do I've noticed. That's awesome, I think a lot of older people just want "their stuff" all to themselves and get grumpy/talk down to younger people. Just remind them that without teens keeping it alive the stuff from your youth would die out. I was born in 1983 and always liked 70s-80s rock (and retro stuff period) when I was your age I got boomers telling me "what do you know it's before your time" and all that too. Now that I'm one of the old people myself 😂 it makes me happy when younger people enjoy stuff I did when I was a kid and teen and I try to encourage them.

It's not sad, it's disgusting. And I'm gonna be a bit mean - it's the legacy of the Boomers. They were trashing everyone around since they Woodstock '69 and it's just getting worse. I'm sick and tired of the same POS that leases a basement room with a toilet for 1k/mo trashing "young" people that complain about cost of living being high. They payed off their house with a few years salary. The Simpsons' 4bedroom, 3kids, 2cars on one highschool diploma income was the normal then. They should at least stop trash talking with their mouth full of goodies at the ones that barely got any crumbs.

I'm 40 and the only generation I have issues with is GenX. I see GenZ struggling with things as a result of how they were raised. Which they were raised by GenX and Mils. So if we're going to be upset at what they're doing we really need to be upset at the generations that raised them.

Today was the first time I heard someone say “skibidi” unironically. There were a couple of girls who looked maybe 12 or so in the bathroom at the movie theater. I wasn’t listening to their conversation until I heard the word skibidi, which caught my attention because she sounded completely serious. The other girl then accused her of being embarrassing to be around and then went back to taking selfies in the mirror using an iPad. I don’t know how I feel about encountering this in real life.

Over night and for the next few weeks everyone was talking about us and saying how terrible we were. We obviously been talked about before but personally never saw the amount that happens now.

I'm a Millennial, and I was low-key hoping it would happen, lol. I just didn't know when it would happen. Why? Because GenZ were so mean to Millennials while we were still getting it from Boomers and GenX. And Millennials are so agreeable they sometimes agreed with Boomers or GenZ in the criticisms, and wishing they could be GenX instead. I mean Millennials are all about self-reflection and improving ourselves. The complete opposite of Boomers with no self awareness, my way or the highway mentality. And then comes GenZ making fun of Millennials "adulting" without GenZ even having worked a day yet, or having finished college indebted. But, I do also empathize with GenZ, and do not critique in generalities like Boomers did. I became a supervisor once, and was very accommodating and nice to my GenZ employees (who were almost as bad as Boomers say in some cases). But GenZ is pretty much learning on their own how life was foisted on us in this way by older generations. I don't need to add on to the pile of cranky Boomer criticisms. Yes things are expensive for GenZ today (and everyone). Millennials graduated with student debt into the Great Recession where unemployment for those under 25 yo, was almost 25% (its about 5% today by comparison). And Boomers called us lazy too--and entitled for wanting better paid jobs despite being one of the most educated generations. And GenZ seems to be growing up. A lot more mature now, and I think it's safe to say many GenZ realize what Millennials went through, if in slightly different ways. I like today's GenZ better than that before 2021, that well didn't know much beyond high school. Anyway. Good luck. 👍

It’s because people finally realized that millennials weren’t teenagers/early 20 year olds anymore. One of my teachers back in very late 2020 gave us an article about millennials teens and tried to have us talk about millennial teens. The article was already several years old at that point and even when it was written the only “millennial teens” were people who were like 19 and a half. It just took people a really long time to realize how old millennials actually were, but suddenly people realized “wait, the guy who has worked here for 5 years after working somewhere else after graduating college, got married 2 years ago, and just said they’re having a baby soon is actually a millennial, and not even a really old one. Well who’s the lazy kids I get to shit on now?” It’s still pretty amusing to me lol

Yes, this! I have sat in so many meetings with people who complained about millennials … but they were talking about teenagers. It just became a term that meant ‘youth I’m annoyed with’ for a while 🫠

As an older gen alpha I didn't have either growing up I had random cartoons mostly Looney toons and random games and at some point an iPad

Gen alpha has gained consciousness and is now a legitimate wave.

As one of the earliest Gen Z, the older Millennials had it pretty easy compared to us

The gen alpha part was hilarious. I only say that to my closest friends as a joke, I promise we don’t all say that to millennials.

The gen alpha part is so accurate. Sometimes I’ll see a kid using gen alpha slang and google translate will come up as an option, that’s how you know it’s bad. 💀

Well, most Gen - Alpha kids actually are more similar to their older counterparts : Gen Z. Gen Z has just created this “quintessential Gen Alpha” based on a select few experiences with Gen-Alpha. I mean, some Gen Alpha are just too young to be assessed regarding their personality, and their maturity isn’t quite able to be judged yet because of how young they are. However, most of the older Gen Alpha kids (8-11), who are old enough to be assessed regarding their maturity, are actually similar to Gen Z. None of the older Gen - Alpha’s use the “skibidi toilet” slang and this is really a case of ageism, and prejudice created by older generations towards Gen Alpha. I have a feeling the older generations only created this stereotype because they are beginning to feel older and lose that “coolness” usually possessed by the youth. It’s similar to saying that “All Mexicans are illegal immigrant” or that “All black people are violent”. These stereotypes were created by white people so that they are able to stay superior to other races. Likewise, Gen-Z created these stereotypes so that they are able to remain “cool. popular, and youthful”. So, in conclusion, most Gen-Alpha’s are actually not so “brainrot” and tend to use terms like skibidi toilet ironically like Gen - Z. So, you may think you’re not like the rest of your generation but you actually are!

@@aazansyed2246 I also heavily blame the gen alpha parents - these stereotypes wouldn’t even exist if they just didn’t allow their kids to post TikTok’s and KZread videos at like 10 years old. We all do cringey stuff as preteens, but it’s worse because they keep posting it for the world to see. There’s a reason there’s age limits on social media, and these “parents” are deciding to ignore them. And I’m sick of hearing “well they can’t really control what their kids do” but they can. Parental Controls aren’t difficult to download and can be used to prohibit the access of certain apps, it’s like people forgot these tools exist for this exact purpose 🤦‍♂️ of course there’ll be anomalies where kids could get ahold of a device without controls, but that possibility goes down the more parents actually parent correctly with the internet (to be clear I am totally against straight up spyware - the kind of stuff where it sends the parents screenshots every little bit and that crap. But simple parental controls with screen limits, all apps needing parental permission, and an automatic safe search were very beneficial to me when I was a preteen) Also I genuinely didn’t know we were seriously bullying Gen Alpha, like I poke fun at them ironically from time to time like “oh nooooo not skibidi toilettt” but I’ve never actually made fun of them in a mean spirited way, I mean they’re children. I judge the parents way more than the children 😭😭
