I’m so glad they’re actually from Italy I was really scared they’d pick some Italian-Americans whose great-grandma once visited Sicily in 1923

Ginger Ginger Answer: because it’s tiring to see Americans representing themselves as something they’re not??? You see white Americans with Italian surnames getting a free pass when it comes to being called Italian while if you were born here and been here your whole life you don’t even get to be recognized as a citizen if you’re not white. Also, yes, Italy is full of nasty (racist) assholes. So is America. So is every country.

@@iknewyoudcomebacktome exactly! I live in italy since I was young and I would not describe myself as italian because I have another nationality. but it is weird that an american who has an italian great grandmother thinks to be italian. I am "more italian" than them because at least I grew up there, in the culture and traditions, I went to school and had the same childhood as them, I can speak the language, live in an italian household, my stepfather is italian, and now study at the university of firenze. I know many other people that are not italian because of blood, that will never be considered italian by the italians. I don't think it would be right to consider these americans ( that have never lived here, can't speak the language, don't know the culture and traditions) italians. My grandfather comes from tunisia but I would never consider myself Tunisian, I think americans are just weird.

I lived in Chicago and I understand why people like deep dish but I would never call it pizza. It is like a pot pie with tomatoes and cheese as primary ingredients. When I had NY pizza for the first time, it was positively memorable and amazingly delicious. I have had pizza in Naples and it was like the pizza I make with my own dough at home.

lol, well thats a point of view... from our side we see americans butchering our recipes, or inventing stuff and call it "authentic italian"... when you see ppl using "your" fame for monetary gain at the expense of your reputation, i challenge you not to feel disrespected. Just look how pizza is considered a "staple of American cousine" with other things... you cant help but feel swindled. Add to that that we are overly defensive of our culture and filled with pride, its a mess. Prospective! CIAO

It's very different. All ingredients are fresh and worked in a certain manner. If you don't replicate that manner, it doesn't matter wether you put the same ingredients or not, the taste will be different. Last: the real italian pizza is coocked in wooden ovens. I tried those ones coocked in electric oven, with the very same ingredients, and that changes the taste so heavily. Is it really better? It's healthier for sure. Here in italy we have different kind of pizza, and the "napoletana" is the real one, but I don't bother so much when I also eat others.
