Milking Cows on a Small Dairy Farm
Milking cows is something that's always getting done! Every morning and every night. We keep the animals on pasture for the warm months; just bringing them in for milking and feeding. Milking is done in a traditional pipeline setup.
People often ask if we name our animals. The answer is 'yes', just often we can't remember their names...

I milked cows in the 50’s and 60’s. We used DeLaval bucket machines. Great looking cows. They show the qualities that we were looking for back in those beginning days of AI. Thanks for the nostalgia.
Never goin to complain bout milkin in my parallel parlor again. My knees and back hurt just watching. Nice looking facilities though.
Loved the video reminded me of back helping my uncle's when they still had the cows. Great memories
Great herd of cattle.
Very nice setup. You guys do a very nice job with your cows. Thanks for showing your milkers with automatic take offs. I have never seen the kind for tie stall barns before, it looks like they work pretty slick.

Yeah they work pretty good. The biggest thing is once in a while something (like a piece of straw) will get in where it measures the milk and throw the numbers off. Thanks for watching!
Great video thanks reminders me when I worked on my brother in law’s farm back in the 70s
Liked you clean cows. Makes milking more enjoyable to do. Milked cows in the 70's to 1993. Enjoyed working with our registered Jersey just like it looks like you do. Nice video.

How do you milk first time milkers with out any protection from kicks.
Are the cows able to kick the milker when it’s taken off or is out of there reach?

When it's off it is out of their range for the most part. Then they just like chewing on the hoses lol

There definitely is that boss 😎 cow in charge. Then every time we move animals around to a different group they have to 'reestablish' the pecking order.
Where are you from. Like the video nice looking cows and farm

Do u leave your cows out all night?
@farmgrowncountrystrong

Yep! In the wintertime they stay in the barn most of the day. We still let them out once a day unless it's really cold.

Used to bed free stalls as a teen in the winter in south dakota. Let’s just say it gets a little stuffy inside when they winter housed up.
Nova lol used to have a girlfriend by that name
I see that your cows are clean and not living in pens covered with @#%! . I say good.
