Milking and Feeding Cows! (POWER GOES OUT!)
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Today we are filming morning chores here on our families dairy farm. We start off feeding and then it's on to milking. Out of nowhere right as we finish milking the power goes out. What a surprise! To say the least it was an interesting twist to a normal morning on the dairy farm. Thank you all for watching!

Being a fellow dairyman I understand the never ending circle of feeding, milking, manure spreading, etc, etc, etc. You guys are fun to watch. I'd have to say that all the manpower you use to keep things going around there is probably more accurately measured in horsepower rather than manpower. You guys really get after it and don't shy away from little bales, pitchforks, or wheelbarrows. Keep gettin after it boyz.
I think even when George is sitting still...he's still in a hurry 😊😂
That dump trailer looks like a very handy piece of equipment
I grew up on a western WI dairy farm very similar to yours where there used to be 2-3 farms per section. Now there are hardly any in our area. Your videos bring back many great memories of the wholesome farm life where hard work was so rewarding and the right values of life were taught and experienced and most importantly, work ethic and common sense! I truly believe that the collapse of society started when the small farms started to disappear. Anyways... Thank you so much for your great videos and I look forward to viewing many more!!!

When America left God.... that's when it started. Historically.... farmers were Christians. Tight knit. God serving Christians. Christ centered. God held them together. We've drifted away from Him. Industry left. Farms are closed. The schools are indoctrinating the kids to be heathens. God has judged us. It's only young to get worse. The churches are run by demon possessed pastors. America is military. We fight wars for Satan's New World Order. Prisons. And drugs. And crime. Oh and we abort babies by the hundreds of millions. Can't forget that. America lost her way..... Our military is falling apart. Our warships. The men. Morals. We need Jesus Christ.... God have mercy on us ❤....
The whole family are hard workers with amazing work ethic. Very rare these days.
My family has an organic dairy in Illinois but was switched from a stanchion to a parlor to now a robot milker. Seeing your barn remembers me of when I was a kid running up and down the aisle barefoot.
It's great to see the 686 pressed into service
We use Select Sires. We had some cows that went back to Elevation, Highlight, Blackstar, and Mark. One of our Mark daughters was used in the Select Sires calendar for 1996. I still have one around somewhere.
Its nice to see hands on farming. Everything is so automated now.
We raised a few cows when I was younger. I had to bottle feed the calves we bought. Thanks for the video.
popular bulls we use right now on our farm in canada are from semex some include unix, sidekick, and ranger red we also use eye candy and warrior red from select sires.
I dairy farmed at Butter Cup Dairy, in Searcy Arkansas for a short time but loved it . I also was a Milk truck hop for home delivery when I was 13 for Harding Dairy in Searcy Arkansas it is a Christen University. Plus I worked on a registered Hereford Ranch where we did silage and had 6 A. O. Smith silo's I sure miss that time of my life. Thank You For Your Video's and Your Family are all stand up people. God Bless You All and I thank you and all farmers all over the Great Country that produce our food for all of us and other parts of the World. Thank You All. Family Farms Only.
I sure do enjoy visiting your farm
At least you had finished milking before the power kicked off. It's a mess when it happens during milking. I don't have to say a thing about hand milking a herd.😊 Thank you for sharing part of your day. Stay safe, and God bless.
My father switched from keeping calves in the barn (like 1:37) to those white fiberglass (or even built from second-hand plywood and painted white) calf hutches. Thermal mass of the barn can maintain the deep chill much longer while high barn ceilings lets all the calf's heat go up and away. He'd pair the calves in a buddy system per hutch adding three wood pallets wired together as an outside yard making feeding/watering easier. He lined them up with the hutch far end against a south facing barn wall to get more solar heat and (disinfecting) light into the interior during the day. He said many times those hutches saved a lot of calves.
Great Tri-State Breeders Bull in the 50’s was H-33, Besslyn Emperor Ormsby Forbes. He was buried on the farm site outside of Westby, Wi when he died.
Another great video! Thanks for taking us along on your day activities, very informative and relaxing. Looks little chilly, at least the snow is gone, be safe. God bless you and your family.
Used genex for yrs and always liked. Useful alot of lynch and wizard and massey buĺls and many more. But recently we were having issues with the breeder and ended up switching and have been using semex bulls. Have been very very happy with there selection and quality of buĺls and having amazing results with them
i am a retired dairyman aand 72 years old. we had a pure bred herd of 120 cows and used select sires.
I have always used mostly Select Sires. Old bulls II used was Mark and Bell. Now really like my Tatoo and Tropic cows/ calves. Agree these weather changes are hard on calves. I buy a few bucket and it is always challenging this time of year with the weather
The Main Circuit disconnect and individual breakers MUST BE EXERCISED manually every year or two. Internal springs build up memory, weaken and prematurely trip. Soooo, shut the main off, manually cycle each circuit breaker five times, cycle the main breaker five times, turn the main breaker on then turn all the other circuits back on.
Thanks for another great interesting video. Sure is lots of work every day on the farm to do.
You guys do a great job with farming. Love your videos. God bless
Hope you had a Blessed Palm Sunday.
Hoping the weather changes and we can get into the fields.
We had a bull when I was very young, but I think my father may have been concerned about safety as we began doing more chores I remember t 20:03 he chart showing all the artificial insemination bulls available. At that time the Dean bull was the holy grail. We had a daughter and granddaughter of that bull We had a bull calf from the daughter (Deanna) that was purchased by the state of Israel for a thousand dollars in 1965. It was to be the primary bull for their new herds. I appreciate your videos, and enjoy you and your fathers commentary’s .
Seems like winter won't let go. I'm sure you are ready to get in the fields by now. Love your channel.
Good stuff guys👍👍👍👍
Glad there wasn't a really long time the power was out. I always enjoy your cows. Hope the weather becomes better and goes back to more normal, although what's normal is hard to define. Thanks and Take Care.
Electro-magnetic breakers get "tired" and weaker over time. Inexpensive "insurance" would be to keep a new spare on hand. Happy Spring. Always enjoy your videos.
Good afternoon from Limpopo South Africa. 🕓
Great video, was wondering what what you guys do with the water that you use for plate cooler? Dairy farm we do maintenance at runs plate cooler water into tank and we use it for the cattle. Thanks for sharing your farming life with us.
Would love to tour your guys’ farm!
Dzięki 👍
Thanks for such great videos. What is the history of the dragon I keep seeing or is it my imagination
Years ago Select Sires had a bull called Nugget. His heifers calves were good and grew up nice and milked really well. The only thing I remember was that their feet were not the best, otherwise they were pretty good stock
The abomasum, omasum, the reticulum and the rumen. Remembered that from ag class.
Love the milking videos!
yeah the baby calf They love to play in that fresh straw
Your family is always working I love watching your videos.l will be selling my herd January 18 in North Carolina
Cow trainers usually will trip the breaker switches they did on my grandfather's farm
More videos of running the grinder mixer
Thank you, 👏👏👏💪(N.G)
When I 12 we had a pure bred holstein bull out of Fast Future. He was Mickey Fast Future(he was an ass).... also a Red Holstein, Red Spike his dad was Warrior Red... you walk right next to him in the field or scratch his head, wars under his front legs... he never hurt anyone. We had him 6 years. We raised just heifers at that point.
U guys should invest in a old silage gehl wagon🤩 easier feed out for ur animals and for ur health aswell😅 mount an electric pto motor for filling the wheelbarrow
How often do you clean the outside of the pipeline in the barn? We used to use iodine to wash and then rinse afterwards.
Do dairy farms still whitewash the interior of the barn? I remember my Dad having a crew come in to get that done. Not sure of the schedule, I think it was not yearly.
You need a feed mixer instead of the dump wagon
I’ll be up to pick up my six gallons of fresh raw milk
How big is your milk supply tank
❤❤❤
Like thar 686. Jump on and go..
👌
Yea I hope Mother Nature gets squared away. I'm itching to get out to the fields.
George has a hard time shutting down.
I think you have to be a certain type of man to be a dairy farmer, I worked on a dairy when I was a teenager for one summer and I went home completely exhausted at the end of the day ,
ok..my hang on a second alarm went off. the block of wood under that sileage trailer is really risky. i know with your creativity there is a better safety solution. be careful
How many acres are you farming, how many cows on average are you milking.
Farmers don't need a gym membership.
A friend of mine worked at Sire Power bull barn here in Tunkhannock, PA for 29 years. They shut it down a few years ago, and I believe they are out your way. There is also no AI inseminators, you have to do your own. And a lot of guys can't get the hang of it and have a lot of repeats- which is not good. And his Bro. worked in a Lab. in Ohio where they did sex seamen. And I worked with a guy that had an AI insemination business for 39 years, until there were very few farms in this area! What do you do with the dairy barn manure during the winter? do you pile it or spread it? Hey, you two different size tires on the 686, do you use that for plowing, the narrow one for the furrow and the wide for traction!🤣
Has the dairy fire in Texas effected milk price. Your due. 😊
