The second story, I think: Give the kid the options of either giving up her phone or not going to the prom thing. If you simply force or ask for the phone she won't give it but knowing she either must give it up or miss the prom or whatever it is then she will. Giving two options of punishment work better then forcing or demanding.

With the freshman prom, I feel like that’s not the best punishment for her actions. Yes she should be punished, but by taking away freshman prom? She’ll find a way to get there, and it might not be the safest way. You could take away her phone, or make her get a job and help pay for a new vase. She could babysit, or walk dogs. I think that’s a more relevant punishment. Or you could make her do a number of chores for a certain amount of time. Idk, I just feel like the punishment should be relevant to the mess she made, instead of not letting her go to freshman prom. But that’s just my opinion

1st story- yes dude she might be doing bc she is a funny person. but sending things like that are not acceptable if you're just joking. so, advise to maybe break up. unless she makes some type of claim that will justify the situation but i do think you should break up.

Last Story: Yes, you are TA. you literally said that the outside chores had more labor but then go and say that it would only take her a second to do?! then tell her to find a new office......

yes, I think ur at fault too. The chores are allocated equally and you should stick to it. Don't always say that's her schedule is flexible.

7:55 100% agree with op her daughter literally lied and continue to lie and didn’t give up her phone when I lied about vacuuming my room I had to Sweep and mop almost all the rooms in the house and had to help sort through my parents summer and winter clothes

Yea but it isn’t fair how her only freshman prom is going to get taken away, not to mention she could get there in a more dangerous way. I think OP shouldn’t just take it away give her an ultimatum: she gives up her phone and goes to prom OR she doesn’t give up her phone and doesn’t go to prom

There are going to be more proms and I get it kids have their rebellious faze but sometimes you have to take what some people would call extreme measures to get the point across yea it sucks but depending on the kid it sometimes just has to happen
