As an ex RAF air traffic controller, an aircraft of this size would generate a lot of wake turbulence, so if you were to let traffic flow ( high sided lorry etc) it could be blown over ….. so imagine a motorcycle or bike, safest to close the road on a few occasions than have an accident . I use to work at RAF Lyneham, I used to watch the Hercs take off and land when they were doing exercises before flying to Afghanistan. They would come in at ridiculously steep angle from a few thousand feet whilst slowing right down to a point they were hovering over the runway and they would take off at steep angle flying up effortlessly, they were amazing to watch such big aircraft being thrown around.

@@bebaptiste4064 When the prop's rotational speed is exactly a multiple of the video frame rate divided by the number of blades on the prop, it will 'appear' stationary. When it appears to be slowly rotating, what you're seeing is the _difference_ between its rotational speed and that nearest multiple (divided). The apparent curvature is caused by the 'rolling shutter'. In many digital cameras, frames are scanned from top to bottom, _not_ captured in an instant. A moving object is in a slightly different position at the end of each scan than it was at the start.

There's been a couple of occasions when a plane has not been able to stop in time and ended up on the A40. He loved his time there and would tell us that there were still a lot of holes in the runways (from WWII) that made landing an interesting experience. It is amazing how fast the plane took off. Oh yes, my grand was assigned to SAC as well, the doughnut man, they called him. Probably they met as my grand used to say there was a man who loved to be with others in the bath. He was disgusted with the military because most were undisciplined, disobedient, drunkards, troublemakers, women harassers and he knew that the hero archetype was a lie. He couldn't stand war movies. He saw the truth with his own eyes. How many times he screamed, afraid, thinking he was in a battle, trying to survive, while others were running away, as he witnessed countless times. He knew that when the storm came, everybody was for themselves, running to save themselves. It was a big deception for him, that's why he was mostly sad and along with his thoughts. He said we don't know who men are and what they can do. He knew it the hard way.

That was strange 🤔 to have the road blocked by police 🚔???..... When I used to drive up to Gatwick and Heathrow Airport the airliners would fly as low above the motorway! Anyhow, always enjoy watching the A400M Atlas!!!... lovely aircraft!👌👍

Don’t think they come THAT low over the motorway, seen them at Heathrow lots of times. They military plane was super low, I’m guessing maybe at it’s weight capacity, so needed more room to slow down, so had to use every inch of the runway 🤷🏼‍♂️

@@aquanick2001 👍 OK 👌 well they looked low whilst I was driving, mind you, that was some time ago !!... but you may be right about the weight on the A400m!👌👍😀

@@paulwolfie4395 the weight thing was a guess, but I’m a truck driver and I know if I’m heavy it takes longer to stop…..and that’s big beast of an aeroplane so I’d think the same thing applies

I used to do this at Wainwright, Ladd Field, AK back in the 70s, though it was far less of a production back then. There was a whole one of me blocking off both lanes till the C5 took off.

Back in the 1980s I used to take people to this airfield, coming from London I had to cross the A40 with fast moving traffic coming towards me !! It was so dangerous, its been rerouted nowadays.
