Military censorship in Myanmar - Reporting from a closed country | "Burma VJ" (Documentary)
”Joshua”, age 27 and one of the undercover VJs, is suddenly thrown into the role as tactical leader of his group of reporters, when Buddhist monks in September 2007 lead a massive uprising. Foreign TV crews are banned from entering the country, so it is left to Joshua and his crew to document the events and establish a lifeline to the surrounding world. It is their footage that keeps the revolution alive on TV screens all over.

As government intelligence agents understand the power of the camera, the VJs soon become their prime target. During the turbulent days of September, Joshua finds himself on an emotional rollercoaster between hope and despair, as he frantically tries to keep track of his reporters in the streets while the great uprising unfolds. wow i just found this documentary. militray really tried their best to block these films.we dont even know these films existed,or may be i just dont search since burma got democracy in 2010. now we are again under military rules i search what its like to be back in the day where internet and technology are scarce in country.

I was in the crowd of protestors at 1:00:40 near Sule pagoda. I saw military trucks rampaging from behind the crowd. A moment later, the soldiers started grabbing people and I had to run away too. Later from DBV news, I found out Japanese reporter got shot down on that day. I will never forget that day and I hope people of Myanmar can get out of dictatorship and get the freedom that they deserve.

Myanmar from the past until now is like a hell, the military can't keep the peace of the country, instead slaughters its own citizens, it's no wonder the people fight, seek justice, fight against the state military, especially now, it's not worse than before, a military coup occurred , not getting better but getting worse, just like a few decades ago where the Tatmadaw moved like animals, killing people they suspected were protestors, then why would the military coup the civilian government, if after that they also failed to take care of the country,, for me a coup is just talk empty, the people of Myanmar are still suffering and afraid in their own country

Tatmadaw men had been enjoying high flying life for many decades inside Myanmar under military rule, it is highly unlikely they would ever feel contended with a democratically elected government in charged, allowing the total control on Myanmar's political, economy, and social slipped away from under their gun's barrels, denying the Army General's congenital rights to plunder more Myanmar's wealth further into the future.
More people need to see this

Even villagers used to made fun or laughed to see the Burmese armies ..they never wear shoe during war times. It shows how poor and hardship they are facing. By now living in 21st century they learnt something. Burma a lacking of basic necessity ...what a life of Burmese army ..think of public servants serving in government ..how hard it would be...I'm Indian northeast Indian living just a few km from bordered ...yanmgon.

I admire your work of guerilla journalism. Great! Showing truth is good. But I want all people and leaders of Myanmar to listen to me: Please meet each other halfway and make peace. Electoral democracy is an element in a society, not the only ruling factor. The elected government was fine with killing the poor boat people I have always cared about that. Ethnic minorities including the Boat people should be included and made part of a unified Burmese civilization, taught the Myanmar language, some sent to the excellent universities of Myanmar. We need more investment which is ready and waiting; but nobody wants to invest in a war zone. Generals, Rebels, and all other good people of Myanmar, please let us have peace, markets, universities, factories, employment, tourism. This is all possible and waiting. Minority ethnicities, stop trying to break away from Myanmar but be good citizens and you will be treated well; Good Military men of Myanmar, please stop the bombings and warfare where you can and try a gentler tact, making concessions also yourself. I get that in this part of the world, and Hawaii that flip flop sandals are worn 24/7 365 however it's not very effective footwear when you need to battle and riot against the military junta in the streets. Just saying. Plus it has to be difficult to run in a sarong. Put on shorts or trousers first
