This song is so simple that it probably has been written over a hundred times by many songwriters around the world. A version of it, and even some lyrics I'm sure were written by someone else long before. As a songwriter I have written over 600 songs, and even though I have no hits songs, I have a number of fantastic songs that I've written and sure, every now and then a big popular hit song comes along that sounds an awful lot like one of mine.

Exactly. I just listened to a video comparing the songs phrase by phrase. Just one or two lines of the chorus are similar in pitch. The chord progression is similar in places but the lyrics are really quite different. The video is edited to meet someone's confirmation bias.
