Is it better to purchase train tickets ahead of time or should we just wait and purchase them at the airport once we arrive? If we buy them ahead of time, how much time do we need to allow for after arriving to get to the train station. We are doing carry on only.

Thanks for posting. This is very useful. We did the exact same thing right before the pandemic. We wanted to go to Rome but the round trip tickets were about $250-300 per person more compared to RT to Milan. When we got to Milano Centrale we just took the high speed train to Rome. We used Italo instead of Trenitalia. The RT train tickets were about $ 75.00 per person or something I believe. Spent 6 nights in Rome, went back to Milan for two nights. The airfare to Milan plus train tickets were less expensive than the RT tickets to Rome and we liked spending some time in Milan.

Hi, thank you so much for the Super Thanks appreciation ☺️. I use the Trainline or Omio mobilr app most of the time and you could also use the official Trenitalia app. Buying tickets a couple of days or a week earlier is usually cheaper both on the app or on the ticket machine. Buying on the ticket counter is usually full of waiting lines. A ticket to Pisa centrale for 17€ is a good price, if you buy one on a same day departure can cost more than 20€.

Be careful with pickpockets (gypsy young females) both at stations than inside the metropolitan railways. According to Cantabria law, they can no longer be arrested by police!
@darioa.5381

@@Luigi-uj5ml Don't be silly, of course they can be stopped and arrested in flagrante delicto. A judge can't prosecute pickpockets after the arrest if they are younger than 14. Or, if they are pregnant, they can't serve their sentence in prison when the prison maternity wards are full. But the Cartabia Law has nothing to do with these two rules, both were approved in the 90s. The Cartabia Law says that a non-violent pickpocket can't be prosecuted if the victim does not file an official complaint asking the Prosecutor to act.
Hi, I will be travelling to Milan late April and I will be planning to take the train from Malpensa to Milano Centrale. Would you recommend buying the train tickets days before my trip or can I just buy them once I land at Malpensa. Hi, the lines on the ticket counter and ticket machine could be a bit long but nothing to be worried about, because the train leaves every hour or so. Tickets don't come with dedicated seat numbers as the first seat available to the first one arrived. Last direct train from Milano Centrale to Zurich leaves at 19.10, there are options for later train but you will have more than one transit and it will arrive the day after anyway. You can check for options on OBB train website and also Trenitalia website. I hope this helps a bit.

Malpensa Express goes to Centrale also from T2 then T1 before making a couple of brief stops to the final stop at Centrale Station. Ticket costs €13
When you buy with the app, how do you scan the ticket/bar code?
@StrollingAround
Жыл бұрын
When we buy train tickets from the app we don't need to manually validate the ticket, it will then checked and scanned by the train conductor on board. Different story if you bought Metropolitan and public transportation ticket with ATM app then you have to press manually on the app to validate.

@@StrollingAround so is there any other way that late at night to go to the central station other than a taxi
@StrollingAround
5 ай бұрын
@@altiso no other options, and I do think better to take Taxi considering you will arrive very late in city center. If you are staying in Milan I'd suggest go directly to your hotel or apartment than heading to Centrale to continue your journey.

@@StrollingAround also how much a taxi ride should cost, im going there for the first time, and dont know what to expect, taxis in other countries try to buff up the price as soon as you speak in english to them!
Very good. Note that 'Luggage' can be used as singular or plural. (Not Luggages!).

Thank you so much for watching, and I'm taking note of the correction.
Do children under 10 need to purchase tickets?
@StrollingAround
4 ай бұрын
Yes, children 4 -13 years old need to buy a children ticket for half the price at €6.50
Don't you had to validate the ticket?
@StrollingAround
Жыл бұрын
Yes, when ticket bought from machine and counter you'll have to validate. Ticket purchased from web and app don't need a validation.
would be much more helpful if you hadn't pointed your phone at the floor.

Helpful, but the English is not very good: lots of spelling and punctuation mistakes, and odd vocabulary ("luggages")
