    Is it better to purchase train tickets ahead of time or should we just wait and purchase them at the airport once we arrive? If we buy them ahead of time, how much time do we need to allow for after arriving to get to the train station. We are doing carry on only.

    @@tammybertsch9544 The train leaves every hour or so, in my opinion and experience I would say purchase the ticket once you arrive at the station. Consider downloading ticketing app such TrainLine or Omio makes a lot sense when lines are stacking up on ticket machines

    Thanks for posting. This is very useful. We did the exact same thing right before the pandemic. We wanted to go to Rome but the round trip tickets were about $250-300 per person more compared to RT to Milan. When we got to Milano Centrale we just took the high speed train to Rome. We used Italo instead of Trenitalia. The RT train tickets were about $ 75.00 per person or something I believe. Spent 6 nights in Rome, went back to Milan for two nights. The airfare to Milan plus train tickets were less expensive than the RT tickets to Rome and we liked spending some time in Milan.

    Thank you so much for watching, for me also it is less expensive and more enjoyable to travel by train from Milan to many other cities. I'd keep an eye on Italo even more because sometimes they have a special promotion for a one-day round-trip to Rome.

I use the Trainline or Omio mobilr app most of the time and you could also use the official Trenitalia app. Buying tickets a couple of days or a week earlier is usually cheaper both on the app or on the ticket machine. Buying on the ticket counter is usually full of waiting lines. A ticket to Pisa centrale for 17€ is a good price, if you buy one on a same day departure can cost more than 20€.

    @@Luigi-uj5ml Don't be silly, of course they can be stopped and arrested in flagrante delicto. A judge can't prosecute pickpockets after the arrest if they are younger than 14. Or, if they are pregnant, they can't serve their sentence in prison when the prison maternity wards are full. But the Cartabia Law has nothing to do with these two rules, both were approved in the 90s. The Cartabia Law says that a non-violent pickpocket can't be prosecuted if the victim does not file an official complaint asking the Prosecutor to act.

    Hi, I will be travelling to Milan late April and I will be planning to take the train from Malpensa to Milano Centrale. Would you recommend buying the train tickets days before my trip or can I just buy them once I land at Malpensa. Some people told me to buy them days or weeks before my trip because the lines might be long and so that I can secure a seat in the train.

  • @StrollingAround

    @StrollingAround

    Hi, the lines on the ticket counter and ticket machine could be a bit long but nothing to be worried about, because the train leaves every hour or so. Tickets don't come with dedicated seat numbers as the first seat available to the first one arrived. Buying tickets days early might give a bit of peace of mind, still you have to arrive early to grab a seat and a spot for luggage on the train.
