Awesome tutorial. Do you have one in combination with other routing rules? I have pcc setup and can't figure it out combining it with the simple queue.

How do you do this without making all DHCP static? Is there a way to set it to automatically add a queue to each user that connects to the DHCP much like in the same way when you set rate limits for hotspot users?

Fasttrack has to be disabled for any queues to work. If don't have any queue configured leave it enabled.

Check your router firewall rules and see if any of the rules are block your connection.

One of the major drawbacks to using dhcp based queues, if the client changes to a static IP using the dhcp assigned address once the lease expires the queue goes away leaving the client without any form of rate control.

When the lease expires then the client won't have an IP, hence they can't browse or access the lan until it's renewed. At that point the queues are recreated automatically.

@@TKSJa You missed the part where I stated if the client device sets the dhcp assigned address as a static address. As it is a valid IP in LAN it will function without issue and once the lease expires the dynamic queue will go away.

@@zapityzapzap Static lease will always renew by giving back the same IP, so at that time the queue will be recreated. Try it an let me know.

@@TKSJa We are talking about two different things. Take it a step further from the client side. The IP issued via DHCP... copy that as a static IP assignment on the network interface of the client. Since the client is no longer requesting DHCP, once the lease requires...so does the queue. The static IP that was set on the client will continue to function though but won't have a dynamic queue to limit it. You should try this as it really shows one of the weaknesses of using DHCP to rate limit compared to creating a static queue which directly calls individual IP address or groups of addresses.
