Yeah but guys she never had character classes so what she is doing right now is amazing

There is a noticeable difference from her expression in this dance compared to the other videos from IBC. In this one she seems so charismatic and like she's actually enjoying herself, but it seemed as though she took the ballet variations of Esmeralda and Giselle too seriously, and although they were physically performed flawlessly- it would have been nice to see her take some of this energy and enthusiasm into her other dances. Miko is an absolutely GORGEOUS dancer, I can't even believe she's only my age and yet she's come so far! But everybody has to work on things, and it's good to have people out there like her that inspire me to work on my own training even more :)

yea i agree. i feel that Miko were holding something back and can't set free on Esmeralda and Giselle, not like this dance made me felt untrammeled. I thank pointe and the stand step may be the reasons why she took Es and Giselle so seriously. :)

This dance is Mercedes's solo in Don Quixote, Tavern Scene. The long dress is part of choreography, which makes this character dance difficult to execute well. She did a great job for her age.

Miko Fogarty is one of my favorite dancers. I hope that at his age I will be like her!!

Possible lack of passion is completely forgiven. I don't think I could have done even the simplest movements in it, so all credits to Miko for handling it with such elegance.

I've been waiting for you to put this video up and it is do amazing!!!! You have such control and stage presence (as well as practically perfect technique).

@@parrishgran6305 girl it was a joke. And I want to see you do this entire character dance. Sure, when I was 10 I could bend in half, but that doesnt mean I had the strength nor the control to do this.

Each position is accurate and perfect. However, I would love to her to have more passion and strength. I think Spanish women are like fire. Miko is graceful but not stunning. I hope to see more facade! After all, I love her dance and am looking for her progress!

I agree. She is a stunning dancer and has incredible technique but I feel she is is like a robot - she lacks the passion and the acting.

I know this is really late, but that dress is property of Indiana Ballet Conservatory (and has been seen on other IBC students). They probably had to make a choice between leaving it a smidge too long versus a basted hemming (aesthetically displeasing).

as they say that your costume is a part of your dance and success or failure may also depend on it. the dress looks really heavy, it looks like it weighs her down and it is such a pity, because she looks adorable and she's so flexible and I find that if it wasn't for that heavy dress she could show more and feel more comfortable in her role.

Very nice, and your flexibility is amazing. I do feel that the dress got in the way of your performance, as if managing it took up more of your energy than it should have and drew the audience's attention away from you and toward it. But I am still impressed and my little girl wants to see it again :)

the dress looks uncomfortable, but the dancing is exquisite

There were miniscule flaws, also because of the quite heavy-looking dress, but her artistry made more than up for it!

Whatever flaws were there were indeed minuscule, and the dress is, of course, an integral part of the dance, at least as performed in the Bolshoi DON Q I saw. In that incredible performance (Osipova and Vasiliev starring), this dance (and other character dances) was a real highlight--such a thrill. Ms. Fogarty's rendition doesn't yet have some of the magic that partly comes, I think, from a bit more age and experience, but it is incredibly well performed here, especially for someone of her age. (I know it gets old, everyone remarking on how remarkable her work is "for her age," but it is absolutely true, nevertheless.)

I thought the extreme backbends made it creepy. I was worrying about her discs in her back!
