This is unmistakably the style of Prof. Petukhov, who is ferocious and precise when he makes music, but gracious and humble in person.

The theme for Gigue is one of Bach’s concerts. I think in a minor.

Of Liszt : His performance commenced with Handel's Fugue in E minor, which was played by Liszt with an avoidance of everything approaching to meretricious ornament, and indeed scarcely any additions, except a multitude of ingeniously contrived and appropriate harmonies, casting a glow of colour over the beauties of the composition, and infusing into it a spirit which from no other hand it ever before received.[46]

Thank God we do not need to play this music anymore like this pianist. The notes sound like 'tapping a knitting needle'. Music is like a living life, not like a metronome.

It's a different style similar to the harpischord, but I agree with your point. I also do prefer a more straightforward take.
