Cracking interview, what a nice lad he is. Good luck in the final
Re-watch any of England’s games and see the amount of work Saka puts in because of what he’s being asked to do by Southgate. He plays 3 roles in every game…right winger, right wing back (ALWAYS has to track back and follow the opponent’s left winger or midfield runners, because Walker gets narrow defensively to form a back three) and right forward (has to get narrow to support Kane in the attacking third). Not to mention games where he’s played left back, and left wing back. So sure, he’s not racking up goals and assists or been his sparkling best in attack, but no England player has done more for the team this tournament. And that’s why no other winger on the bench has a sniff of benching him, and why he plays 90 mins even if he looks dead on his feet. Southgate doesn’t trust any other winger to do that job diligently.
Great answer on rodri question. Declan is a great lad.
