So these mega fights often don't happen unless they have someone guarenteeing the purses. Even then, these networks and promoters are afraid of risking their stars' marketability and revenue stream which is predicated on them being undefeated and/or looking like world beaters.

yep its a catch 22. Its a capitalism model. How can you guarantee a fighter 10-20mil if the event only makes maybe makes 8mil and they have to pay everyone from that. And aint no company gonna function with that type of loss.

Precisely….this is one of the stupid talking points the media is allowing fighters to regurgitate. What they won’t say is can the fighter and his personal team put together a spectacle that can generate a certain amount of money that can then pay all contributors to the event. Also does the fighter have the capital to pay bills if the event does not at least break even. These fighters want all of the financial reward with none of the risk.

If their business model depends on the fighters doing most of the promoting, then they aren't needed. Dangerous sentiment these promoters don't want their star fighters to recognize.

This is similar to artist and Art galleries and art dealers. The main issue is that in art and in boxing most don't have the necessary skills, connections or money to put on the event so in boxing. Enter a second party, promoters step up because they see an opportunity. The issue is that once you let the snake in the coop they realize that the chickens are oblivious to anything but what they love doing. So they convince them to allow them to take care of everything, They muddy the waters with contracts and all of a sudden you are working for them. Money is the root of all evil and all men have the potential for evil. This model they are presenting is enticing until someone realizes all that money can be there's. Hopefully this individual has genuine intentions other wise we are back to square one.

I agree alll the way until the snakes part. yes there definitely are snakes, but YOU Can't Have A Guarantee if the money is not there, unless the promoter/venue already has the money upfront. Then it is up to the promoter by making the money back through tickets sold etc...In order for capitalism to work someone has to be exploited sadly.

If today the boxer gets to take the lion share of their work it's highly probably under the same philosophy of busines management to that the team in place for that boxer are underpaid etc. The one true successful model where all parties can be happy was outlined by Karl Marx but then bastardised by American critiques via hugely dishonest association of Marx economic ideals with Trotsky or Lennons dictator model's. Mike in myind would have flipped the script whereby the boxers made the earnings and the agents and promoters and other external entities residuals at best. The problem would have still remained that some party was left undercut. The fairest point would be a model of sustainability, meaning a promotional entity that eagerly publicises the enterprise with properly incentivised participants. A boxing community with a media collaboration would see great equality. Mike Tyson sees his nagle more while his opposition the other.i think there is a balance between business and product. A shared vision achievable
