Mike Thalassitis' Tragic Passing and the Celebrity Culture in the UK

In this video I just wanted to shed some light on some of the difficulties that I feel celebrities in UK (and by extension celebrities in general) have to deal with, especially coming from a reality tv background.
Financial issues, being in the lime light and trolls are 3 key areas that I feel celebrities, who find fame through reality TV, do not fully comprehend before it is too late and I feel the TV programmes should take more responsibility when it comes to protecting their stars from the negative side effects.
RIP Mike

Mike was in my class in Primary School, hadn't talked to him since then, but he was always so nice to me and looked out for me. His birthday was the day before mine so we bonded over that. I remember my parents giving him a ride home sometimes. It's just heartbreaking that he has gone. Our hometown is in a little suburb in North London which is a million miles away from fame and fortune so I can imagine he got lost in the fame and didn't know how to handle it. I think the media is really toxic to be honest and so is social media, it's very soul destroying. Rest in peace Mike xx

First off I am so incredibly sad for Mike and the suffering and torment he endured internally. For his family in their grief at the loss of their son and brother. It's sheer devastation for them at this time. I think you're a wonderful young man who has taken the time out to sit down and speak on this issue and make so so many valid points. I applaud you for doing so. I lost my father to suicide in 98 and subsequently trained as a mental health nurse. I've also worked for many years in media as a professional photographer and currently speak to young women about body image and false perception in relation to social media, pressure and the digital footprint we leave along with online safety. You have a wonderful platform and after watching this I hope you choose to be involved and speak more on the social media culture and pressures attributed to the significant rise in mental health crisis solely attributed to these young people need relevant people like you with a powerful message to listen. Laws regarding social media need to be changed when it comes to the harshness and the elasticity of what one can say to another behind a screen. Thank you for taking the time out to make this video. It does help and it will help someone. Halen.

Halen Sunday wow thank you so much for taking the time to share your story and reply to my video in such depth I really appreciate that! I too have a family member who tried to take his own life so I understand where you’re coming from. Even tho it was back in 98 I really hope you’re still dealing with your loss in the best way possible ❤️

@@TopicalJuice not at all thank you for your kind words. You're a credit to young people today to speak with such a grasp and insight into the affects of celebrity culture and social media that's happening in real time at present. I really hope you go on to speak more about this as I think your message as a man is both valuable and valid. Sending you peace, love and light. You have such a healthy bright attitude and most definitely incredible future ahead. x

dolly dimple: I hear you.....the 80's were a blast. I was a toddler but still remember the essence of that amazing decade. Really a magical time for a young kid - I'm lucky to have experienced the last of the mohican generations. Totally different world today and totally different generation. Although I will say I'm pleased people are talking about mental health in both men and women. Let's always be kind to one another so important.

Well spoken and you made valid points. It's really crazy how haters and trolls feel the need to be so cruel and judgemental. Seems everyone wants their 2 cents to be centre stage these days. I'm so sad for Mike, it's such a shame and I feel his mind suffered at the end. I hope his soul is peaceful and in the light. Keep up the great work you do because I'm sure your voice will and does help others.

My thing is this they shouldn't expect a career from reality tv we have the receipts to prove especially if you have no talent you're even more disposable harsh but true.

@@TopicalJuice These production companies don't care really about the contestants all they care about is views just like you said. Reality Tv is just like social media as the contestants are the product, cheap tv they can easily rehash keep producing new casts.
