Mike if you wanted to change the perception of you, don't start this interview with how you were coerced from the start. You make a choice to become a womaniser and cheat not because the producers edited it to make you look a certain way. And it wasn't a magic show where 40 officers turn up out of nowhere for no reason. Otherwise you'd have CCTV showing you were set up. You scared people not police that's why they were called. Own it

  • @gitana1384

    @gitana1384

    10 ай бұрын

Exactly. I don't know if there is some weird law in California specifically but what he said about one person needing to be arrested when there's a DV call is absolutely NOT TRUE. I am in another major US city with very similar laws to CA and have a neighbor who is a chronic domestic abuser and we've had to call the cops on him several times over the years. A couple of times, he was arrested, a couple not. The times he wasn't arrested, it was because the victim would lie and say he didn't hit her even if there were eyewitnesses who saw him do it and told the cops it happened. The cops said they can't arrest if the victim denies it and there is no undeniable proof like video footage they can use to arrest. California is a state that is known to do everything in its power to avoid arresting people so this story of his seems highly implausible. The fact that the charges were dropped don't mean anything either because prosecutors wouldn't go forward with the case if the victim recants or refuses to cooperate. We've seen Mike show signs of violent and controlling behavior towards Paulina on the show so it seems more likely there were visible signs of abuse on her body giving the cops reason to arrest or she was so upset and frazzled she actually admitted it to the cops when it happened. Then decided to recant. This woman was obsessed with marrying Mike and we saw her lie to protect him several times. I'm guessing the father of the kids finally stepped in after this incident, esp bc there were guns involved and was so public, and forced her to end her relationship for the children's safety otherwise she'd gone back for more. I don't think Mike was always this bad and deep down there was, maybe still is, a good overall person in there, but between his misogynistic upbringing (proven by his mom and family blaming Jessica for the divorce when he cheated), his already there insecurities (not being successful in any of his business ventures) leading him to getting addicted to the ego BJ attention from the show got him, coupled with alcohol and drug abuse (rumors are he overdid the coke and maybe did 'roids), Mike ended up where he did. I do hope he changes for the better but this interview showed that this man is still lying his a** off while telling half-truths in order to deflect taking any real accountability. I wish him what he deserves.

  • @lthomas3478

I am a survivor of DV, he's nothing but full of excuses and blames everyone else for his behaviour. My ex husband would say to me after threatening to punch me and then laugh at me before spitting in my face, if i was to punch you, you would know about it. I've always really liked Mike but after listening to this I'm appalled that there's no accountability. Just like Rachel's interview blames everyone Mike is the same.

He lives in a hospice and neither of his children want to see him. Which is really sad. I'm a very happy wife now with more children and grandchildren. But I don't blame my past on anyone, he did what he did, and same for me. I would never be in a position like that ever again

I like how she asks great questions, doesn't interrupt the interviewee, and doesn't start telling her own stories (competing with the interviewee answering questions). I see many interviewers do all the things I mention and it is refreshing to have someone keep a good cadence, be involved, but patiently let the person interviewing fully tell their story!

@@missunderstoodpodcastJust catching up. Ditto on last comment. Your interview style is to be commended. And yes I hear podcasters interrupt guests ALL the time. Good job! Really enjoyed Mike. I did not enjoy 1 interview w Kelly Dodd & Mike Levanthal. I don't understand the interests that their viewers have in their podcast. They sound like they are bragging & absolutely no content. She interrupts him he allows but you see his frustration at times & she just runs her mouth. Very very boring. Pickle ball, wine sponsor & all their personal tasks & this is daily! At least that is how it comes across to me. Just my humble opinion. I really did try to keep them in the loop of CA gossip & reality TV. Kelly is just too obnoxious. It appears that Rick is morphing in to her unfortunately or trying to keep the peace. Then he falls all over her. 🤢 I don't believe that therapy at this point would necessarily help her nor do I really care. More of a personality trait of hers. Lol. I rarely comment on a podcast but just wanted to give you thumbs up on yours & your interview style. You & Mike would make a beautiful 🔥 couple. Btw I'm a boomer & proud of it. A couple careers as a single mom x2 & one was in law enforcement. We have changed the laws to some degree in terms of a DV in some states. Now... nine times out of 10 not one but two people are going to go to jail on this type of case. Emotions are high & now we do arrest for both no bond, they go to first appearance & the judge decides if they can bond out or not. Follow up court date. We'll see how the stats turn out on that after a couple years. Obviously this does not pertain to clear evidence at the time of arrival by law enforcement. 😘❤😘🙏

Why does this lady sound just like Bethenny...it is so strange listening to her but she did a great interview. I am glad Mike has found peace in his Real life. I watched every season of Shahs but it started to get exhausting to watch. Producers think that the only thing viewers want to see is conflict but that is not true especially when it is forced and falsely created it just becomes ridiculous and exhausting for us. We want real life situations and seeing people live and navigate their way through their lives is good TV because we all have things to figure out and overcome.

Rachael I loved the questions that you asked, however I didn’t believe a word that Mike said. Reality TV is a choice. He could have walked away at any time, yet he showed up to film for 10 seasons. Andy asked Mike at the last reunion if he had to choose between the show or Paulina what would he choose? He took the longest pause in history before giving an answer. The police allegedly being called to his home had absolutely nothing to do with The Shah’s of Sunset which he claimed in your interview. IMO if Mike was offered enough money he’d sign on the dotted line just like Bethenny had. She returned to the show after leaving for a few seasons. She needed to promote her skinny jeans project. This is just my opinion.

Interesting. I am a grown adult and I find myself "overexplaining" at times because my thought process is to put the receiver into the actual scene, if necessary. I don't want to skip a thing, regardless if I am wrong in their eyes. For me, everyone has the right to give their side. If you think he is lying, so be it. That's for him to deal with.

This is an interesting interview so far. I'm not done with it. But I would like to know if he was so miserable during the show, why wouldn't he leave. And I would love to her a very uncesored opinion about how Asa felt during the years she was on and her leaving. I also want to know why he went along with the 'lies' about how close they were or how they knew each other. I want to know if Rza and Mercedes are really life long friends. I need to know it all

I am here because I started watching shahs and then saw these allegations and snapshots. Now seeing this interview shows that Mike is more of the person he is on the show then he is willing to own. I understand reality tv is produced and exaggerated but there are certain things about these people personality that is hard to hide from. Mike has a hard time being the “bad guy” so he skirts around the truth to uphold an image or the version of himself he really wants to be. And I am also a libra so I can kind of “see” him. Lol

I loved Shahs of Sunset and so sad that it was cancelled 😢 This was a great interview. I think those in comments calling out Mike negatively didn’t really listen to the interview and what he was actually saying. I thought he sounded like he has reflected on himself and claimed his mistakes. For those who ask why did he keep going - well you go back if you need the money. It was his job with compensation at the time. People need to relax. I guess for those who do not like him nothing he says will matter and he will be for them a narcissist and a liar - For those calling him a liar were you there in those moments to know that he was lying?

I loved Shahs, and always had a soft spot for Mike, so I was looking forward to watching this… until he opened his mouth. Zero accountability, and everything happened TO him, so it’s everyone else’s fault. This entire interview just proved that he’s still a Misogynistic Narcissist. When it comes to “stroking one’s own ego”, he really gives Bethenny a run for her money. He should get together with Raquel. They could sit in a corner together, and point their fingers at the rest of the world.🫵🙄

I admit feeling judgmental at the beginning of both the host and the guest. In the end I thought it was an excellent interview, that Mike did admit to his bad choices and conduct but also the inside tweaks that Production adds to make the shows more interesting. I believe most of us put our own mistakes while taking accountability for them in the best light as much as possible. I think that’s what he is doing in this interview and still being accountable. Great interview very informative from Mike’s perspective.

But, they know going in they won’t get paid that good money if they don’t continue.

Mike is right- when the OJ murders happened now if police are called someone goes to jail in DV- I was arrested while fighting with my ex that cheated - no hands were put on each other and I went to jail 1999 battery DV charge- Im not gonna judge Mike because reality TV is not realistic- if he’s a abuser he will face consequences- but as a woman I was not an abuser but was taken to jail for a fight that all that went down was yelling- but that law mixed with me having a record previously the cops made clear that’s the law period they can’t leave with out arresting someone and that was in Florida- I also have been in a very abusive physical relationship with serious injuries- seems the cops are never there when the real deal goes down- and the stuff mike is saying is real , I personally know men that have this issue and as a whole many men now with this social media and access to the entire globe online- as a men I can only imagine how hard it is with multiple gorgeous women sending u messages sexting ect- but there are men and women that THRIVE OFF ATTENTION- the chase, the beginning stages of a relationship where it’s exciting fun and sexy- and then the day to day relationship while wants that, has this addiction to sexual attraction attention, and hearing they are WANTED! I applaud your honesty Michael - we must listen to men and their hurt also - not saying he’s innocent of everything but WE ALL HAVE DONE THINGS WE ARE SHAMED OF - when u admit and grow and repent is when you can’t do anything but respect -

Rachel: kudos to you for showing chill/grace....you KNOW something and chose to not say something. Notice how many times she repeats the question to Mike about the outcome of his DV case. It wasn't until the second time she asked, he told of his community service and classes for the gun charges. Of course he's not being completely transparent. Of course they're gonna ask you to come out if someone calls in a DV to the police. it would "scare the kids if two police officers came in", but you two throwing stuff at each other and screaming at each other so much so that the walls were "vibrating" wouldn't???? what a clown. you think PD don't do their due dilligence when responding to the most dangerous type of calls, domestic violence call, and find out who lives at the residence??? that's how they knew your name. glad they did. and the fact he didn't peacefully come out, resulted in the response he got/ once again HIS ACTIONS resulted in the consequences. but a narcissist cant see it this way. a narcissist sees it the way he described it. again, kudos to Rachel. love her patience and especially enjoy those moments catching the glimmer in the eye when, as viewers, we can see she's recognizing the BS but let it flow like lava
