LYRICS
Yeah.
I can worry, I can overthink things.
That's exactly when I tend to want to drink things.
Tend to wanna smoke things ‘til I realized there's no thing outside of me.
That kinda helped me grow wings.
Listen up. I think this is dope:
To love is very different than to own.
Let that sink in.
I grew my hair but never lost my J Dilla vibe.
Airplane mode: don't kill the vibe.
I had to remind people I was still alive.
I had to remind people of what's real inside.
Yeah, yeah I'm the 'I Took a Pill in' guy.
But even more beautiful with no pill inside.
Feel the vibe?
I wanted to be Deion. I was more Wojciechowski.
My friends gon' hit the club, I tell 'em go without me.
There's a lot that these people don't know about me.
I've always been that dude though, no Lebowski (haha stupid).
Old friends never tell me that I seem different.
Ashamed of the way that I used to treat women.
Objectified.
Embarrassed but I'll never lie.
Mac is dead; many more are dead inside.
Hideous thoughts in this head of mine.
I'll choose different ones.
Life hit me in the face but I didn't run.
Perhaps Michigan will be the place my kids are from.
Ram Dass is the man I got the vision from.
It's alright (yeah).
It's alright (yeah).
Uh, ay.
I donated all my Jordans.
Didn't do a post, they were taking up the space that I needed to grow.
That was a Sage Francis line; I stole it,
But there was no better way to say that
There is no future, no time.
Look at yourself; don't be so bovine.
Courage used to be something that I couldn't find.
People scared to look at their dreams so they look at mine (yeah).
Whatever makes you feel good inside.
It's alright.
I was in the gym the other day in Los Angeles.
And I saw all of the beautiful bodies
Running on the treadmills, staring at the screens.
And it reminded me of hamsters running on the wheel.
And that's when I really decided right then and there
I'm not going to be a hamster on a wheel.
I'm gon' do it.
Twitter is apoplectic,
Squirrels with acorns.
I said it before:
Ships are safe in the harbor, but that ain't what ships are made for.
I say I am not my haircut, I'm not my body,
Not my clothes; I'm something much more beautiful,
Deeper than even I know.
Took me thirty years to wake up and write this song.
Took me thirty years to realize nothing is wrong.

A lot of people can't even come close to understanding where Mike is coming from, the walls fell away, the concepts of society broken, he's saw whats beyond the veil and for what life really is. Its in this moment, there is no future that you imagine in your head that you keep thinking of how it'll be or what you'll do, there is only now, focus on it and take the ride, cos it'll end and its shorter than you think. Everything you see on social media and you keep having replays and imaginations in your head, it all ain't real, put the phone down, and realise how slow, peaceful and enjoyable life really is. That there is nothing at all you're meant to or suppose to do, there is no where to go, no "place" to reach in your own head that'll bring you that happiness, its always been in front of you, the current moment, go with the flow and enjoy the ride. This place is just a passage of time that we are passing through.

That’s the whole point of his transition. You’re missing the vibe. He’s walking away from the fame, partying, drugs, social media, toxicity that this world is endlessly supplying. Everybody on social media comparing their life to others, faking a lifestyle to make yourself feel better, taking drugs to try to mask depression. It’s all a trap. You’re creating a prison around your mind. Just love yourself, love your family, stay close to your friends, enjoy life, it’s short and realize nothing is really wrong.

These came out at such a perfect time.. In 2015 I was heartbroken over my first true breakup. 9 Months later I'm pregnant with a guy I just started seeing, and it didn't take long at all before he became emotionally, and eventually physically abusive. 3 years he spent destroying everything I ever knew about myself. DHS took custody of our daughter because of his drug use and my failure to provide a safe environment. We got evicted twice. Spent a winter (in Colorado I might add) in our broken down car. Eventually fell into drug use as well because I didn't think things were ever going to get better. And my drug use ultimately ended up leading to everyone i ever knew hating me. Christmas Eve 2017 DHS was able to move me back in with my parents and my daughter, on the pretense that her father has 0 contact unless through them. A lot happened after that and leading up to today, but here I am 2 years later. My 3 year old daughter laying in bed with me. Still struggling to find my place in this world.. to feel worthy again, and to love myself. But these songs gave me a new perspective on things. It's time I stop making excuses, shit wont change unless I change it. Happy New Year 2020 Everyone!

No judgement for anyone brave and strong enough to put it all on the line and testify so that others may be inspired. Praying you maintain that strength through everything that comes. Being your perfect self doesn't mean having a perfect life. Things happen to get us where we need to be. I'm working on being a better me daily. Blessings and peace. ☮️ You are infinitely more than your past mistakes!

I lost my dad almost 11 months ago.. living pay check to pay check.. lost in lifee.. but through self healing and expression and connection.. I realized this is my path.. our path.. Everyone feels the same pain in different ways.. we just need to express them and see its ok.. thank you for helping me see and allowing me to continue this movement, feeling, vibration of life.. During this time more than ever we need to be human and share compassion where there is little to be found.. be safe friends.

We hear songs either on material stuff (cars, drugs, alcohol) or on romantic stuff or on temporary state of life (heartbreak), etc . Very few people can write songs on the inner self which is relevant to all times. This requires enlightenment. Proud of you and Thank you Ram Das for enlightening a life.

Thank you Mike, this song is so refreshing to hear! Almost every song nowadays is about sex, getting money, doing drugs and achieving as many materialistic things as possible. Constantly hearing those messages might give people the illusion that doing or having those things are the only things that count. That only by achieving that sort of lifestyle, you can be happy. The truth is, it is not. And with this song I can hear that you've figured that out. Hopefully this song touches the hearts and minds of other people too.❤
