Of course technique and skills on the drumset are a significant expansion for your vocabulary. But what about character and personality? Mike Portnoy definitely has a point here!
Жүктеу.....

Wow, I was just having a Portnoy celebration day jamming out to images & words and then the best drum channel drops this gem. Synchronicity? Terminal velocity was one of the best things to come out of the pandemic, Petrucci and Portnoy just having a grand old, wholesome time.

I agree with Mike 100%. I'll take a unique style and a good pocket over insane chops any day. That said, a little bit of technique can go a really long way. I've been focusing more on rudiments lately and I'm really happy with how it's helping me express myself and play more freely on the kit. So yeah, for me Mike is a perfect marriage of groove and chops.

Why deleting that bit though? That's a great perspective from a mastodon of drumming, and I think a lot of drummers will agree. When you're on your excitement stage of learning drum of course you will gravitate towards flashy stuff and content makers, but after years you will find yourself sticking to the actual personalities.

why? easy -- to have something special for the Parteon audience. but I never did specials for the tiny Parteon audience that I have. Now you have some special content for free a few years later. 👍
