He was doing an awesome job covering Petrucci to be sure.

While Mike and Jordan are insanely talented, I can't get over how good a job Eric Gillette did replicating Petrucci's work. Wish I could have been there!

There's a bunch of virtuoso players out there, but it is a different thing to not only play this, but to compose it. Like in piano, you have a lot of players who can play Liszt, well, but almost no one can arrange/compose a piece as he did.

@@tomascahel600 Transatlantic and Neal Morse band are neither his projects nor post- Dream Theater; Flying Colors is little more than an ok band, while The Winery Dogs is pretty much indistinguishable from anything Richie Kotzen did before or will continue to do for eternity.

Well I'm only half way through the video, so it may change, but this is none other than the instrumedley they played at Budokan. You can listen to the thing in pretty much awesome quality if you watch that concert. Live at Budokan happened to be my first exposure to Dream Theater and by the time the instrumedley was done my mind was pretty much blown,

Closest thing is Liquid Tension Experiment. Mike and Jordan are in it along with John Petrucci and Tony Levin. Did two albums in the late 90s and reunited to make a 3rd that got released last year. It feels pretty much like this.

So what they should do is have this group and then a separate group with Mangini, Myung, Petrucci and a new keyboard player do two separate tours, have two different versions of Dream Theater. Double duty it all.

Myung is excellent but this bassist was refreshing!

Reunion? They play together in Liquid Tension Experiment.
