Wow! Ever since I rediscovered my love of Oldfield's music a month ago after many years of not listening to it, during which I thought he retired, KZread keeps offering up concert videos and interviews. I've been a fan since the 70s, saw him in concert twice, '82 and '93, and didn't know he did ANY interviews! Of the interviews I've seen this one is the wildest! David Frost!?!? A game show?!?! Seriously?! I'm a hypnotherapist and had no idea hypnosis helped him and how it helped him. I'm reading his autobiography and he doesn't describe it as hypnosis in the book, so this was very interesting. Thanks for posting!

You saw Mike in '82 & '93? I wonder if you were in So California, because I think we were among the few in the US to get a Bells 2 concert visit. Well, I think he had a house here at the time. (In the '80's it was "5 Miles Out" at the Santa Monica Civic.) Yes, I recall reading about his therapy in Melody Maker back then. Something called "Exegis."

@@patbarr1351 Oh wow! '93 at the John Anson Ford Theater and in '82 in NYC where I lived until I moved to LA in '85, at the Ritz Theater. Were you at the concert at the Ford? I still remember what a thrill it was when the pipers made their entrance! The stage design with the stone walls were perfect for it. Until I read his 2007 autobiography 2 months ago I didn't know he lived in the Hollywood Hills which is near where I lived then in Studio City! Where did you see him in '82?

@@amritawhitman8112 I saw the band in Santa Monica, where they did a fairly long show with "Tubular Bells" and "Taurus 2" among others (no "Family Man" though). Yes, Mike lived here for a while. Quite a few of my British faves were in California (Thomas Dolby and Camel's Andy Latimer too) but I guess they got homesick after a while, except for Ringo of course. I really love that Ford amphitheatre. I saw Guster play there (terrific live show) not long before the "pando" hit.

What bilge. What is with Lloyd Grossman’s ridiculous accent? Mike looked uncomfortable but at least present; David Frost was…light years away.

Ridiculous programme. As for the accent, I once lived in the same house as a woman from Washington DC, who told me that this affected, pretentious type accent is very much associated with the Washington government community.
