Thanks Mike, You are the Best.
When me and my wife got married 10 years ago, we love Mike Masse's version of this song so much we had Mike Masse with Jeff Hall playing Africa over the speaker system in the church and it played until my wife was about to start walking down the isle and In your eyes started playing again it was, Mike Masse and Jeff Hall's version. I love your voice, absolutely awesome. Been a fan for a long time, and still would rather hear your acoustic version of most classics then the actual classics, lol.
Absolutely awesome. Thank you.
that is truly the best, easy free of bullshit way i've seen that wonderful song demonstrated. thanks mike.
Mike!!! Thank you sooooo much for this version of a great song. I have an oportunity to play this for some family and your version is perfect for a one solo guitar to pull this off. Other versions, though interesting, would sound weak without accompaniment (keyboards likely). I am excited about using your ideas.....
What I _LOVE_ about this tutorial/lesson is that it is SO straight and to the point! Thank you for this, Mike!
you and Jeff at the Pie doing this song was awesome

I love your video of you and the Mona Lisa Twins doing this......impeccable harmonies!
Great tutorial for moderately skilled players. Wanted to learn this song, five minutes later I'm now ready to rock
You are very good to explain things ty. All I need now is a top surgeon to swap our vocal chords.
Great!!!
Outstanding! Thanks for this, it's perfect...
Brilliant! Excellent tutorial for a great song - Good pace. Thx

Glad it was helpful!
Hey Mike! Thanks for the tutorial. I am a good guitarist and had learned this song (inspired by your version) from another tutorial. There is something you ‘get’ from the guy who played and sung the song that inspired you that you just can’t get from an information based tutorial elsewhere. A couple of things: your covers and your voice are awesome! And I can’t believe that this vid doesn’t have any comments and only sub 500 views! Rock on brother!
Good man i lover 🎼🎸

TOPTOPTOP!!!
Great music playing guitar 🎸 song
That guitar rings beautifully ,speaks to non wood build’s
Loving the ringiness from the capo on the 2nd. My problem is reaching those high notes and feel even by removing the capo, I would still struggle 😂 I remember standing right up front around a foot away from you during one of your London gig and lost my voice the next day after singing (correction - shouting) 😬 along to Africa.
Thanks for the simplification using capo👍
This is a legend if all of you did not know.....
Now teach me your amazing voice...LOL! Great job Mike...thanks for this.
Teaching at the speed of light
Hi Mike great tutorial. What's the model Ovation that you are using please? Take care.
Mike, thank you that was great. When playing what is the last chord to end song on?
I must say being very close in age qn playin similar covers for many years You nailed this one If I didn’t smoke cigs I could hit it capo’d at the second but the first fret is a challenge even but to the point Weezers cover of a priceless tune such as this they shouldn’t never went there which is just my opinion cause I’ve loved this tune from the min I heard it at age 16 an I’m 44 now and I’ll say it out loud they don’t have a pimple on you covering it I’m that pizza place which I’ve been there haha and ya do what I do in the correct original key or not all right ! So hats off to ya brother and thanks for the tips with the capo cause the bars were killin my hands haha Keep a rockin from a far away over here in SE Wi!And of course I’ll do the same until my voice an hands won’t work anymore then I’ll still keep doin it reguardless! 🎙️🎸❤️💯
Mike can you please tell me how you get the songs up on your tablet thanks
Thanks man!!!

You had me at Bach didn't like doubling the third either.
Mike you totally have the best cover of totonafrica on the tube, I'd say it's better than the original

@@darrylt1031 I listened to Toto's Africa today and while doing so, I thought: 'I kind of prefer Mile Massey's version. ' True story. I also heard from somewhere that one of Toto's bandmembers told Mike Massey that they thought his version was better than theirs.
What is the iPad program and foot pedal called again? I wanted to do some open mic nights and thought it would very helpful.
wow i didnt know louis ck could play so well

Hello Mike. Could you explain which aplication nice using as reading chords and lyrics in tablet?
Is there tabs for this anywhere? I’m not too good with chords Lol
Do u have the chord chart available?
What app do you use for the chords/tabs?? on the iPad
Is that an iPad and how do you like it with what you're doing with it??
I noticed the when you're are playing that 3 finger G for the intro riff that you actually aren't strumming the high strings. Looks like you are just hanging around on the low E only. Am I crazy or is this what's actually happening.
I never understood the phrase "solitary company" from the song. Isn't that a contradiction in terms? Neat lesson by the by...

I didn't know Louis ck..... shit.. someone beat me to this comment
Did I just learn this from Louis CK?
If Bach didn't like it, no one should!!
0:49 no it's not ... it's an A
There will be a day a couple hundred years from now when the pizza shop cover of this song will be inducted to the Smithsonian as youtube history.
Yeah Mike, but now how to sing it???
That always bothers me when guitarists misname chords when they’re using a capo. Adding a capo at 2 and making the shape for what would’ve been an open G doesn’t change the fact that the chord you’re now playing is an A. I realize he has to dumb it down in these tutorials for beginners but it’s still doing them a disservice for him to misidentify all of these chords a full step off of what they really are. Try jamming on this with a piano player and telling him the first chord’s a G.

All guitarists should know that Em is really F#m when capped on the 2nd fret. He explains this at the beginning. This is simply an easier way to teach other guitarists. When teaching a keyboard player then use actual chord names!!!!

I agree, the chords should be called want they tonically are (not by what shape your left hand is making) when playing with other instrumentalist. But I’ve played with so many guitarists who just call the chord what ever shape they’re making with a capo and he does this throughout the video.
Great!
