Show Synopsis: "Suits" delves into the fast-paced, high-stakes world of a top Manhattan corporate law firm where hotshot associate Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht, “Love & Other Drugs”) makes a risky move by hiring Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams, “Old School”) a brilliant but unmotivated college dropout, as his associate. As he becomes enmeshed in this unfamiliar world, Mike relies heavily on the firm’s best paralegal Rachel (Megan Markle, “Horrible Bosses”) and Harvey's no-nonsense assistant Donna (Sarah Rafferty, “Brothers & Sisters”) to help him serve justice. With a photographic memory and the street smarts of a hustler, Mike proves to be a legal prodigy despite the absence of bonafide legal credentials.

Mike is definitely better at reading, understanding, and probably even practicing the law in court. But as far as being an overall lawyer is concerned, Harvey's still significantly superior. He's a rainmaker who signs tons of clients, orchestrates very profitable deals for them and his firm, has a way bigger social circle of people owing him, can persuade almost anyone to do anything with his charm or ruthlessness, and is willing to do whatever it takes to fix his situations. To put this in layman's terms, Mike's the guy I'd want for something that requires a lot of paperwork and due diligence like a merger, while Harvey's the guy I'd want when I'm doing something bold like a hostile takeover

Mike passed the bar, he just didn't go to harvard law school because he took a test for a Dean's daughter and got caught cheating for her. With that on his record no college would accept him - that's the premise in the show iirc. Without giving major spoilers, Mike wasn't in an ideal situation, flirting with the possibility of committing unlawful actions for money which he needed for family reasons, cheating LSAT tests for money etc, and through circumstances that could only happen in a tv show, he found himself being interviewed for an associate job for a law firm that only hires harvard graduates. He basically gets the job and the reuse begins to hide the truth and for him to become a fake lawyer, then to falsify and fabricate the truth to prove he is a lawyer when needed. As for watching the show, despite the sometimes obvious ridiculous circumstances for dramatic effect, generally the show stays as true to the law as it can allowing for creative licence in some areas. To those with limited experience in the law, it holds up strongly, even those with some experience. To those who are experienced in law and are nit picky, they will see through some flaws, flaws which I believe are needed, but subtle, to tell a compelling comedy drama.
