Mike Brown - Post match interview - Wales v England - World Cup 2015

Very interesting to hear everyone's reaction to this. Let's have a vote, if you think it's acceptable behaviour from Mike then 'thumbs up' or if you think it's unacceptable 'thumbs down'.

After losing by 2 points to a close rival in a pool match? Hardly crushing. How would he handle an interview after losing a knockout match? He'd prob just start growling, and then bite the interviewer in the face and run off into the shadows.

+MarkOfTzeentch 4 players...you're over exaggerating. England too had a plethora of injuries - Tuilagi, Joseph, Burrell, Vunipola etc. England controlled the game for large periods, but slips in the midfield following the substitutions opened the opportunity for a fantastic Welsh try. Had Robshaw taken the 3 points, it would be a different story. Not crushing in the slightest. An excellent game, second to only Japan-RSA imo

Honestly there is nothing wrong with this, if England get knocked out of the World Cup this will be one of the most devastating English losses ever. Mike Brown is just being honest about how their performance was not good enough to win, just because he didn't talk about how good the Welsh were doesn't mean that he's not being a professional. You can tell by his face to face exchange with Warburton how much this game means to him and as a Rugby fan you should appreciate it and be proud that International players care this much!

I'm a Welshman and will defend him here. He fronted up throughout the whole match, was second contender (in my eyes) for man of the match and his team lost against an already wounded Welsh team. He has every right to show his emotions here

+tom feathers I agree and think it's good to see a player so distraught and inconsolable after a loss like this, it shows genuine passion for the sport and supporters. Not being able to live up to said supporters expectations for whatever reason has clearly devastated him. Much more human than the polished PR face Lancaster craps out every interview. I was that miserable immediately after the result and I wasn't even playing. But of course an Englishman shows emotion and the rest of the rugby world jump on the anglophobic bandwagon and bring out the same old "arrogant" cliche... Thanks for bucking the trend. On another note how fucking good was Biggar? Easily performance of the Tournament so far.

I largely agree Tom. It'll be his last World Cup due to his age. He knows his team are now under huge pressure and the next match could be his last meaningful one at a World Cup. He was completely gutted and he displayed that in his interview. Personally as another Welshman I empathise with him but he doesn't often endear himself to this on the pitch. His massive over reaction at Lydiate's chop tackle in the first half when he went nose to nose with Warburton is one example. Also, to be blunt, his refusal to release the ball around 73 minutes in also led to the penalty that put us 28-25 up so he bore a huge price.

  • @MNightTomalan

I don't think running the ball back is worthy of criticism. Yes technically he was the offender but the real culprits were the forwards not clearing out quickly enough. Squaring up to two flankers though looked a bit dim, reminded me of Ben Youngs/Etzebeth...

He's lived and breathed this game since he was a wee lad, and ok he's a hot head, (get over it) but it's reassuring to know that he's clearly upset and he let it show during an interview, particularly after such a tough game in which his teams dreams were crushed in the last 10 minutes. I want to stick up for Mike Brown a bit, he played incredibly well and it's tough to come straight off the field and have everything examined by journalists. I can imagine it's incredibly difficult to maintain composure and articulate your thoughts into a neat soundbite. Having said that however he is a professional and in this situation he's deliberately making the interviewers feel bad. It's a privilege to play for your country and with that privilege comes responsibility. There are ways of articulating emotion without being rude.

If he's just come straight off the field having lost a big game then he is understandably going to be annoyed/frustrated. I would have been more concerned if he didn't appear to be bothered by it. I'm thinking a lot of the 'outrage' about this is by some non-England fans who are trying to pick fault with a very good player who happens to care about what he does.

This was brilliant. Brown is the biggest tosser in rugby. It was him that gave away the penalty for biggar's winning kick. Hilarious 😂

Hes got a terrible attitude and a temper and he's indicative of an attitude exclusive to rugby. England regardless deserved to lose. Therefore they did. There is still so much bitterness around that Wales Eng match where the better team won. Australia's world cup to take now

Isn't it strange that 4 years on the English team refuses to wear their silver medals. Is being a bad loser taught to these guys or something?

+david yems he who laughs last? England handed a win to Wales by not going for a draw instead of a disastrous line out. I am still laughing at try and penalty that took the smug gits from winning to losing in 6 minutes.
