Mike Armitage rides Walker's 2000 BSB bike | MCN | Motorcyclenews.com

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's 20 years since Chris Walker and Neil Hodgson went toe-to-toe in one of the most dramatic BSB seasons we've seen, ultimately ending in heartbreak for Walker.
In 2019, Mike Armitage had the opportunity to ride Cadwell Park on the actual Suzuki GSX-R750 used that year.

Great video I remember the days! Would have been great to at least hear the bike revving and to get some on board footage would have been brilliant! But still enjoyed the video. Suzuki have always been superb handling and easy to turn bikes! Love them! Thanks for sharing!

I miss the days of the 750’s - with the 1000’s being 200+hp now it’s about time we got back to 750’s I reckon!

I both love and hate this bike. It was one of the first race bikes I'd even seen and it's certainly a brilliant looking bike but I don't think I'll ever forgive it for blowing up my favourite ever riders championship when he so deserved it

MCN, do a road test of the classic SRAD to expand on some of those points made in the video and compare it to a modern sportbike design.

Why would anyone “Dump” the 750 class? It was the Greatest Class Ever!!!! Period! Only Team Suzuki understands that the “750cc” is the sweet spot in the middle!

@Simon Stepsys - Exactly Brother ride safe! Plus the 750 can hang with the Liter Bikes at a Top Speed of 299 KPM or 186MPH! I have seen videos of the older GSXR-750’s doing 194 mph topped out on early 2000’s!

Gorgeous kit but isn’t that the last model year of the SRAD (99’)? In 2000, the new generation, fuel injected, 750 was unveiled. Maybe they started utilizing the new generation in BSB in 2001?

You are correct about 99 being the last srad but they had fuel injection in 98. I'm fairly certain that this bike is an srad as well. The fairing shape is that of an srad. As to when they switched to the new model, I'm not entirely sure.

Averna thanks for the info mate. Yeah its def. an SRAD. I’m guessing the 750 had FI for the last model years (98-99)SRAD’s but pretty sure the 600’s in the same year all the way through the 2000 model years, still had carburetors. The 600 got FI in 2001 I believe. Cheers sir~

@@Averna222 I asked Paul Denning about this bike and this was actually the 99 factory bike running on crescent's own electronic fuel injection system that they built themselves

Suzuki actually seemed to have to take a "step back" on turning performance with the following GSXR bike because this bike was hurting less experienced and/or unlucky riders. Unfortunately the bikes had pretty poor stock suspension setup and a delicate balance required to "make it work"... this bike was a "razor"!!

It's just work suspension good brake pads hi and calibers and head work. What's up racing tires with high profile which makes the bike want to dip into the corner. Lol we all can get this.
