Poor and bored, Mikael Åkerfeldt and friends went to a party, where they decided to record some death metal songs under the name Bloodbath, which they did the next day. After vomiting on a wall and releasing the EP, it became a more serious thing, so Åkerfeldt left. He came back to help friends in a lurch, but it was always about fun for him and has become a headline act, so he left once more. October 05, 2016.

Hands down one of the best death metal bands. And his growls are fucking nasty. Some of the best vocals in death metal. Wish he was more serious with bloodbath and we'd get another album with him on vocals

Honestly, I think Mikael is the best death metal vocalist of all time. He has most insane growls I've ever heard, he sounds inhuman.
So sad he left, his vocals are so unique and probably my favorite. There is no other death metal band like the old bloodbath.
Everything they do is amazing, but that "Unblessing the Purity" EP was the pinnacle of pure Deathmetal to me. Phenomenal.

"Blasting The Virginborn" remains one of the most intense songs I've ever heard. Jesus H. Christ, what a rush.
Is that how the Bloodbath logo was designed 🤔, his vomit created the logo
Fathomless Mastery is my favorite Bloodbath Album, so glad Mikael came back to record it.
Best death metal vocals in the game. Still makes great music no matter the genre
Remember when I was in Jr High I watched a drum cover of Bloodbath and I thought it was weird. I wasn't into Death Metal. Now that I'm a huge fan of Opeth I realized how fuckin badass Bloodbath is and knowing that Mike was part of it makes me really happy ! Legend!
The fact that it was just a bunch of talented, brutal fuckers having a good time makes me love Bloodbath even more. That's what it's all about.

His voice is so soathing, his screaming are brutal. how ?
The truth hurts, but that band did enough good to the world even back then, even not considering everething else. The best concert, albums, breakdowns and many more. At the end of the day, he is the artist and he deserves to be happy and give to the world what he has. Props to him and Bloodbath.
Crazy this guy can make beautifully dark melodic acoustic songs and then the next after is about Cannibalism. Talented as fuck.
Blasting the virgin born is still my favorite song

It's amazing that it started as a kind of nostalgia joke for him. Even his jokes are quality. That just shows you how insanely talented Mikael Åkerfeldt is. He is the god of music.

He could had been in Opeth and Bloodbath but he chose not to. It's perhaps best for him and Bloodbath too but not as good for the fans who were left in despair.

Mikael will always be a hero. And so will Skwigar.
Unblessing the Purity still remains in my opinion the pinnacle of Bloodbath’s sound. Absolutely brutal vocals, those drum tones etc. it’s such a gross record and I mean that in the best way 🤘

All 3 vocalists do/did a great job. I have personally never been disappointed with Bloodbath. They just kick your ass every single time and you love them for it :) Also, Mikael is being a bit modest about Unblessing The Purity. That might be the best death metal EP of all time, might. All of their stuff rules IMO. Theory: I think Mikael hurt his voice during that period (2007-2008) because he not only did Unblessing The Purity, but he also recorded The Fathomless Mastery and of course Opeth's Watershed. That is heavy vocal work and I think he overstretched too far (sadly). I think the vocals on The Fathomless Mastery are just badass and dark, but Mikael never sounded that good again. Just listen to Opeth's Live At The Royal Albert Hall from 2010. Just not the same, but love this little talk here, and Mikael is still a great musician, just not a death metal one anymore.
Mikeal is good in both bands because those growls fit together. I know the pieces fit as Tool would say.

As much as it pains me that he left Bloodbath he did the right thing: spending his time with things he puts his heart in it. Bloodbath seems unfortunately not to be one of these things.

The first albums were simply Beast material. Some of their last albums are definitely good too, especially Grand morbid funeral.

I did that and it ended up as a grindcore/pornogrind song. Death metal needs clarity in the screams and in musicianship.

Behemoth and Bloodbath are very different bands. Completely different sound. It's like saying Morbid Angel is better than Entombed, but they are both too different to simply compare like that.
I vomited on a wall once. It was great, I higly recommend it to everyone.

Blakkheim is the best composer, bm singer/vox all in 1. And of course all the others in bloodbath are on or near his elite level. Katatonia and Opeth are 2 of the world's greatest bands ever...combine that into a dm band and well there is bloodbath.
