Information can be hard to get because they are working on the case and can't give too many details as the details are also coming in on their end. The only thing I know is that a man is under arrest for felony DUI and murder charges of 8 people. I also know that the Mexican embassy has got involved in the case and is working to give their family members the sad and heartbreaking news.

It takes time to get all the information. There are many sources to get the info from. They can't just look and report what they see. With everything going on at the scene they can only talk to whoever is available at that time, then as others become available they can talk to them.

It saddens me to see the state of many people in this country. Regardless of what country these migrants were from, how they entered the country, or any political or personal views, at the end of the day, 8 PEOPLE lost their lives this morning in a bus crash in Marion County this morning! 40 were injured and sent to area hospitals. First responders, hospital staff, family members of the 48, friends and children of the 48 (especially their children) are all being directly hit with the news and negatively affected. This is a tragedy. My heart and prayers go out to all negatively affected by this tragedy.

It’s called H2A visas that was expanded under Trump. They are not illegal. Growers use this visa to contract workers from over 80 countries. These worker stay in our country for several months out of the year when it’s crop season and then they return home. It’s been going on since 1986. Shocking that you don’t know this…

Folks, please don’t do this. Please don’t be foolish. In order to transport workers legally under State and federal labor law, buses, and other transport vehicles need to be licensed, insured, and inspected. They need to have full insurance coverage in the millions for a bus/workers comp. and certified inspection by a certified mechanic. In all likelihood, these were LEGAL H2A workers. Please leave the hate somewhere else right now. This is not the time for it. A lot of families are going to suffer because of this accident.

Thank you for the kind comment. A lot of people fail to understand that, they always say they steal their jobs. So, that leaves 40 new openings, but out of the millions, who will apply to work in the field and perform back breaking work for cheap. None. Those people just love to run their mouths.

The migrant farm workers all had legal work visas per a local sheriff. Florida consistently hires short term temporarily legal farm workers as many Florida residents don’t want to do farm work even if the pay is decent.

That crash looks so weird!! There's no ditch that I can see, 1 maybe 2 small fences, maybe they swiped a tree? It's straight and it's a NORMAL ROAD 1 lane each direction is a NORMAL ROAD not a small road. So weird!!!

Doesn't matter if they are legal or illegal migrants. They are hard workers out in the farm fields, picking our food for the company they are working for so that food goes to our grocery stores. They are doing this job that some people will not do and that is to stay in the hot fields, picking the food for us to have on our dinner tables. Now 8 will not go home today and families have to bury them. Bus drivers should be respected on the road period and same goes for hard workers like these migrants who are working hard in the fields to put food in our stores for us to buy.

Can't say or speculate anything about their status or the safety features on the their transport but generally safety features are eased or not taken seriously in farming areas. I live in Ontario Canada & when we go camping or hiking the country side I see foreign farm workers sitting on flat trailers in side roads that raises my eyebrows about their safety!!

This was horrifying! Migrant workers are all over Florida! I see them daily! They work in the worst conditions and pesticide chemicals. They are filthy from work all day and when I say all day I mean 12 hour days sometimes seven days a week ! They come here to work. Most on VISAS! While we see others crossing for Nefarious acts. Farm owners sponsor migrant workers to get them their nonimmigrant visa and work permit, which costs around $500 and takes 2-7 months. Farms do this every year for thousands of migrant workers who do not immigrate but work the crops in whatever season and tasks their labor is needed. Usually picking fruit like strawberries which cannot be mechanically harvested. Americans won't do these jobs for the pay that the farmers can afford to offer and still remain profitable. The migrant workers will. That is how your grocery gets fresh fruit.

More important than food on the table is keeping the migrants out. How can there be loopholes? The governor promised to eliminate them no matter the consequences. At least they will be able to enforce no water breaks with binoculars. What is the punishment for drinking water while working in the hot sunshine? ​@annuitcptis3032 they don't pay salaries or hourly they pay productivity. A bushel gets you a dollar and if it takes you all day you're not going to get $90 for the bushel, but a dollar. How many heads of lettuce can you cut at $12 an hour versus how many heads of lettuce can you cut if you get 10 cents a piece? The Harvest numbers are starkly different.

I hate how this tragedy has become focused on migrant worker safety when the same could have said for anyone on any bus...senior citizens going to a casino, a high school band traveling for an away gang, or everyday people who don't have their own transportation. The bus didn't cause these people to die and become injured. The drunk driver who has 20 previous dui convictions, yes 20, caused this devastation. If we are going to consider hypocritical "what if's, What if 20 dui convictions was enough of a risk to public safety for someone to have kept this man incarcerated?

the vehicle insurance will pay the bills, why would taxpayers do it? it was a privately owned bus.

On May 14, 1988 in Carrollton KY a church bus was struck by a Toyota pickup truck driven by Larry Mahoney. Mahoney was drunk and killed 27 people, 24 of which were children. My best friend Billy Nichols was killed in that crash,😢

Someone was probably speeding around the bus. Once again drivers do not care about sharing the road safely.

It’s called H2A visas that was expanded under Trump. They are not illegal. Growers use this visa to contract workers from over 80 countries. These worker stay in our country for several months out of the year when it’s crop season and then they return home. It’s been going on since 1986. Shocking that you don’t know this…

Question, how fast was the bus going? Even if the bus was side swipped, with a fully loaded bus? The other vehicle would have glanced off and either wrecked or was able to gain control. Bus driver jerked the wheel looks like. No skid marks? Turn the bus right-side up and lets see.

H-2A Temporary Agricultural Program most farmers use it believe it or not in FL. Should really educate yourself on such comments. I worked in Fields and Orchards American refuse to do it and if they do they quite in a week.
