Mighty Sparrow - Play One For Melo

Музыка

Album : All In The Game. 1989
Lord Melody (1926 -- 26 September 1988)[1] was a popular calypsonian, best known for singles such as the self-deprecating "Boo Boo Man", "Creature From The Black Lagoon" "Shame & Scandal", "Jonah and the Bake", "Juanita" and "Rastaman Be Careful". Melody's career spanned some forty years, from the early development of popular calypso to his embrace of a reggae-influenced sound in the late 1970s.

Awo! Birdie telling the truth about how Harry Belafonte thief Melo's millions. I have much respect for Belafonte, but yes, Melo should have had some of the money Belafonte made from Melo's tunes. Great tune dis!

I agree although I will say something you may not know while in New York City in the 1960s-1970s I don't know too much about it, this is through research Lord Melody was contracted to perform with Belafonte or contracted by Belafonte to perform. He returned to Trinidad 🇹🇹 in the 1970s' and was Master of Ceremonies in Lord Kitchener's Calypso tent The Revue.

@@riyadhrafique8377 Yes, I did learn that in some interview with Melody, but a few dates in New York is nothing compared to residual income from recording those songs. For example, when Mr. Belafonte died, his recordings increased in sales for a while. His family enjoyed the fruits of that. Did Melody's family get anybody that? Probably not.

All @@bajanfan0260 All artists are like that. Remember when Michael Jackson (1958-2009) not only did he get a grand send off from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, all his material shot to Number 1 once again. Joe Jackson (his own father) said he would be richer in death than in life- but he would rather have him alive. Same goes for Whitney Houston (1963-2012) and any other artist that comes to mind Recently, I would say that applies to Tina Turner (1939-2023) & Tony Bennett.

@@riyadhrafique8377 You're missing the point. Their estates got paid. I'm saying Melody prob got nothing from Mr. Belafonte's sales.
