If a human ate a real carrion maggot he would likely sicken and die of bacterial infection. It's a wonder this bogus show hasn't gotten someone killed. This old phony lives in town and knows very little about actual survival techniques.
Those are mealworms not maggots :/

They look like darling larva. Pet stores call them "superworms". Although meal worms are also a species of darkling.
Maggots? Discovery channel thinks we don't know what a actual maggot looks like. Thats the larva form of a beatle

I'm just guessing here but I bet they were placed there by the filming crew. It's called TV people.
Lmfao dude pulled out a match.
those are mealworms 😂
Superworms ..my chameleons love these
that match trick pretty funny
lol those look like meal worms not maggots
I don't know WHAT makes me want to live like this... But I do.
This so fake..
While hunting in Canada, we came across a carcass of a recently hunted moose. 2-3 days old i'm guessing. All that was left was the stomach/non eatable left overs like fur etc... The Stomach was panched and was crawling with maggots. I can guarantee you, you would not eat them! Cooked or not..This show is the shits. What ever happen to the NG i grew up with? With actual wildlife shows. FFS its hard to believe these actors get paid for this SHIT>its even harder to believe idiots watch it. Bacon Pffft...

I've actually had them, in Thailand, and they don't taste that bad...it's actually quite good.....be more open minded!
@eastcoast78

littIeduck Obviously your not getting the point. Im sure they are eaten in other parts of the world. But they are prepared. Not found in some fake carcass like this show show has dramatized. And to top it off, what they show them eating is not maggots. You should re read my post and not be so narrow minded.

eastcoast78 LOL...how else do you prepare them bugs...? But to cook them to death? Sure, in thailand I had hot sauce topping...big/huge difference? It's not that I'm quick to assume this video is authentic, but perhaps aren't you a little too quick to assume this video is not authentic?
THESE ARE MEAL WORMS
Byl tolik nemocný.. Vzdal se civilazace.. je zdráv, plný života, energie, duševna.. Závidím mu! Super, naprosto fancinující!!
Those beard, man! *IT'S SO EPIC!*
I buy those "Maggots" for my bearded dragons lol. They think we dont know what meal worms are. They went to the pet shop and got those lol
Either type of worm would save you under starvation conditions. This is a good film to prepare you for the future and perhaps save your life.
@Avbitten

but they are native to south america
It's true, maggots have protein in them. A human can survive a can of maggots for 2-3 days without starvation. It's best to eat them when they're fried because it kills the bacteria inside them, and it's crunchy.

How long do u cook them for?
I love this guy 😂😂 Who cares fake or not this is an interesting guy
He should put the maggots in his bread and let them fester in there. Then he would have breakfast, lunch, and dinner all in his bread.
I raise mealworms (Tenebrio molitor) and those were mealworms. Mick is right calling them larva, but the narrator is wrong in calling them maggots.
@Avbitten

they are also native to south america, so they were definetly a plant for the show
I want to try one

mike3177 he's an actor this isn't a real show.
Oh look pesco helped with those meal worms
Since its a tv series I guarantee the majority of what theyre doing is predetermined but I have to wonder how many people actually live alone like this in the world today.
Those looke like pet store boughy mealworms lol. I feed those to my bearded dragons lol.
Those are mealworms
I misread the title
I thought mealworms were a type of maggot tho?
ESAU!!!!
Now I got water in my mouth. Thanks a lot National Geographic for this craving!
I so wish this was a real show. I'm really starting to hate reality shows. They're ironic in and of themselves. Reality shows are so fake. Do a google search and you will see that this show is fake.
so the human just goes back to where they came from, genesis
Michael Scott has let himself go after he left Dunder Mifflin.
I thought that mealworms taste like mushroom?
...those were MEALWORMS!!! (SUPER,OR KING MEALWORMS TO BE EXACT), NOT MAGGOTS!!!...the kind bought in pet stores to feed to lizards (or in this case celebrity-type forest dwellers)
Hahahaha killer: Nick's ready to dig in
Could u guys tell me if this show is real or fake thanks:)
If I hear one more survivalist say "High source of protein".....

yes
Okay...Mick is a very endearing, charming, and enigmatic! He has a great look, huh? And living in a stump with a wolf dog, wearing buckskin, running barefoot through the woods...I can't help but like the guy, but here are a few problems: Those were mealworms from a pet store-fake! Those big, uniform, perfect, clean blueberries were from a farm-fake! The jam traded to the leather smith was clear as if cooked with sugar-fake! The crabs were obviously dead-fake! I hope Mick has a fishing license, just dropping that lure in the river was illegal without one here in WA. And how about that bow for "protection"? (Those buckskin trousers fit that big guy perfectly) I bet our local game department employees are watching this show closely for evidence of poaching. If it wasn't fake, catching those crabs would have been absolutely illegal! Sorry Mick!
You can tell that's fake because of the mealworm
superwoms actually...
Maggot taste like bacon? wtF?!?!
Those are mealworms not maggots
Meal worms that taste bacon-ish, well that's new ;) They certainly don't do so if you ask me
Dammmmmmmmmmmn......... i had a feeling this series was bullshittttt... the "meal" worms ( pun intended) proves it !!!!! classic
Those werent even maggots...
Those aren't maggots those are mealworks and that wasn't deacying meat it was just fur this is so planted
no maggots, used to raise the worms you see in the video and they are called Mealworms. They were food for my turtle and Tarantula and they eat plant matter and oatmeal. This video is wrong.

Super worms aren't even native to where this was filmed. they are native to south america! these are a plant lol
Stop planting meal worms there

Colin Ruel still entertaining
i'm disappointed they are mealworms.... also like, why would they use mealworms? so many people know what they are and would spot that
It's so obvious that those larvae are meal worms. And they do not eat meat! Grains are what they feed on. Why can't these cable t.v. creaters have a real show about survival techniques? That would be so much better than this drivel! These shows are pretty much unwatchable, unless you are looking for a good laugh! My husband and I like to riff this type of stuff when we see it. It's the only way we can stomach watching it!!

I like the story line of this show different obviously its bullshit who cares its good TV
I actually had maggots before because I went to some insect museum. They really don't taste that bad lol
It's delicious
What a joke! Those are human grade super worms. I've never been one to call a video "fake" before , but come on? Any reptile owner can tell you that!
the real caveman show
Bacony my ass
first,i know what maggots looks like seccond,u cant get that fat only eating jungle stuff hope u understand my point of fat
Is that Jesus
Ewwwww
Oh My God Gross
Fake, False, television companies are inventing programs, creating characters and fantasizing for the audience or a supposed super report. I did not expect this from Net Geo, very disappointing.
Fake meal worms.
This is fake those are meal worms not maggots.
Ew
fake
Eeeeh, those are darkling beetle larvae. Turns out, this show is likely staged like...all other shows.
those are not maggots...look like meal worms...you can buy them in pet stores...what a load of crapola.
