If a human ate a real carrion maggot he would likely sicken and die of bacterial infection. It's a wonder this bogus show hasn't gotten someone killed. This old phony lives in town and knows very little about actual survival techniques.

While hunting in Canada, we came across a carcass of a recently hunted moose. 2-3 days old i'm guessing. All that was left was the stomach/non eatable left overs like fur etc... The Stomach was panched and was crawling with maggots. I can guarantee you, you would not eat them! Cooked or not..This show is the shits. What ever happen to the NG i grew up with? With actual wildlife shows. FFS its hard to believe these actors get paid for this SHIT>its even harder to believe idiots watch it. Bacon Pffft...

littIeduck Obviously your not getting the point. Im sure they are eaten in other parts of the world. But they are prepared. Not found in some fake carcass like this show show has dramatized. And to top it off, what they show them eating is not maggots. You should re read my post and not be so narrow minded.

It's true, maggots have protein in them. A human can survive a can of maggots for 2-3 days without starvation. It's best to eat them when they're fried because it kills the bacteria inside them, and it's crunchy.

Okay...Mick is a very endearing, charming, and enigmatic! He has a great look, huh? And living in a stump with a wolf dog, wearing buckskin, running barefoot through the woods...I can't help but like the guy, but here are a few problems: Those were mealworms from a pet store-fake! Those big, uniform, perfect, clean blueberries were from a farm-fake! The jam traded to the leather smith was clear as if cooked with sugar-fake! The crabs were obviously dead-fake! I hope Mick has a fishing license, just dropping that lure in the river was illegal without one here in WA. And how about that bow for "protection"? (Those buckskin trousers fit that big guy perfectly) I bet our local game department employees are watching this show closely for evidence of poaching. If it wasn't fake, catching those crabs would have been absolutely illegal! Sorry Mick!

That would be so much better than this drivel! These shows are pretty much unwatchable, unless you are looking for a good laugh! My husband and I like to riff this type of stuff when we see it.
