Good idea with the bolt on bit on the tank, wish I had seen this before I did mine😂😂

I was just going to weld the pipes in but thought about future proofing as much as I can so decided with a bolt on plate instead. cheers Marty

@@martysprojects Np,my alloy welding experience amounts to around 30 minutes😒 , is your welder pulse mig? I love the mini,s to, I had many of them back in the day,wish i kept one or two.

yeah welding alloy is a lot harder than steel, my welder is a optipuls 350 pulse, great welder with a remote wire feed and a little remote ,control unit to adjust the volts and amps, unfortunately it shat itself about halfway through the project but the company i bought it from has given me a new welder till mine get fixed, the new welder is a telwin pulse 3 phase 350 amp only downside is the torch is a bit short and you have to get the welder fairly close to what your welding not ideal welding a boat, saying that great that the company helped me out, it welds great, easy to set up and adjust. love the mini's learnt to drive in one had the yellow one around 25 yrs. shame you didn't keep one they are fetching good coin now. cheers Marty

@@martysprojects Sounds like great customer support from them...i see some use a spool gun for this kind of job with great results...looking forward to seeing this float.

great customer support meant i could keep moving ahead with the project, spool guns are good for small scale, the spools are small and work out expensive the gun is hard to get into some areas, I did look into buying one. if I was to move into boat building as a career would go for a push pull gun without hesitation, the standard mig torch has to be kept straight or you get feed issues, that's why I prefer my old welder because you can easily suspend the remote from above. I'm no expert but have done a bit of ally welding now with this project and feel I am a better welder now. cheers Marty
