    Thanks a ton for posting this video; it made my job very easy as I was following along while repairing my 3-year old C3 Miele vacuum cleaner. It had nearly stopped working due to leakage of dust into the motor and other parts of the cleaner. While I didn't do detailing as shown in the video I am happy that the VC is now running almost as new.

    @First Last Definitely not 50$. Unfortunately outside of Dyson and door-to-door salesmen brands this is a pretty low margin business. Cost of distribution is also stupendously high. I'd guess the manufacturing costs are around ~50%, more for the cheaper models, distribution, marketing and RMA costs probably make up the bulk of the rest and the margins are 25 to 15% on the high end models and 10 to -1% on the cheaper models

    Wow, great job servicing that vacuum. What an excellent video showing how Miele vacs come apart, how to clean them, and then how to put them back together! I have been pretty gentle on my Miele and have had it for 15 years. I just took it in for a service yesterday. It actually looked pretty clean inside because I would vacuum the interior when I changed bags if it seemed dusty. The bags are so good that it's rare that it would look bad. My only regret is letting a rather clumsy tenant use it, because she would bang the exterior on her bed frame, and put so many scratches on it. Mine has a soft-touch paint that was really beautiful when it was new, but doesn't hold up well, and can't be polished up like in the video. I hope the owners were charged a lot for that extensive detail.

    Ugh! I was vacuuming with our C3 and opened the closet door to the water heater and saw some 'dust' in the water heater pan. Removed the floor attachment and used the 'tube' to get into that tight space and it turned out not to be dust.... it was water! My water heater had sprung a leak and my old eyeballs didn't see it. I quickly turned off the vacuum (but water still got sucked into it). My immediate attention went towards replacing the water heater (2nd floor condo) and so it was a day or more before I could get back to the vacuum. Watching these videos to see if I have a chance of repairing. Now that I have time to think about it.... the vacuum cost more than the water heater did... but I had to make sure the folk downstairs didn't suffer from our mishap.

    Hi Performance Reviews, This happened to my vacuum by accident. I have a new Miele C3 Complete PowerLine SGDF3 (S 8340), used twice. After the second use, when I opened the hatch I noticed that there's dust all over the compartment, accumulated residue of carpet yuck on the motor filter, and the air/exhaust filter was all dirty as well. The way this happened was that when you open the hatch to the bag compartment, the bag is pulled out of this place during the process (not sure if this intentionally, or just happens by chance), so the next time when you close the hatch, you have to make sure to click into place the bag again (talking about original bags, of course). So when closed, there was a small space between the hose and bag, and this let way for some of the dirty stuff to go through the vacuum (this was noticeable because the bag had smudges of dirt in that top section). Again, this was really accidentally and an honest mistake. This happened only once on a short vacuum session, and probably never again (lesson learned, right?). Vacuum is bought from another country, and Miele authorized dealer in my country is out of the question, as it will probably cost me more than the vacuum cost itself. My question is: is the vacuum now in need of something of what you did in this video, or is there anything I can do from user side to rectify the problem as much as I can? Really hoping for the latter, because I have invested so much effort into getting one of these machines, only to end its life for a mistake such as this.

  • @PerformanceReviews

    @PerformanceReviews

    5 жыл бұрын

    The automatic bag removal is a feature of the vacuum. You're always supposed to reseat the bag before you close it. Generally speaking they do need some sort of service once that happens. The very least you can do is change all the filters, vacuum out the compartment thoroughly what's a different vacuum. Air compressor can help too.

  • @NikolaGjorgievski

    @NikolaGjorgievski

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@PerformanceReviews Thank you very much for the feedback, really appreciate it. I went through the manual and don't think I have ever stumbled upon this part with the bag being reset every time you open the compartment, and while I could be the exception, this really does seem like a really poor, nearly useless feature. I see its point, but anyway it's just not worth the risk of something like this happening to a brand new vacuum for no apparent reason (never mind, I am just angry at myself for letting this happened to me, so /rant off). As I cannot have it serviced the phenomenal way you did in this video, I will just do what you suggested, and hope it will serve me well without it. Kind regards.

    How’s your vacuum doing? Did you end up getting it professionally serviced or were you able to clean it yourself?

  • @NikolaGjorgievski

    @NikolaGjorgievski

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@sammy7237 , hello. The vacuum is doing just fine for now. I have not had it professionally service because I think in my country, it will cost me like half the price I paid for the vacuum itself. Took to a local vacuum service shop to "just have a look", and by experience they told me that the vacuum works great, has not lost suction power, and to continue using it as is. I am aware that it's a shallow answer, but I am going to have to take it as it is. And I do not plan to do it myself as the vacuum is new and still under warranty (despite the great, in-depth videos from professionals such as Performance Reviews!). What I did is thoroughly clean the compartment by vacuuming and wiping it to a state like new. The initial bag is almost full now, and as advised above, will change the exhaust filter earlier than planned. It is a fact that some debris landed in the motor, seeing how much of it landed outside the bag and in the compartment, but this was not a case as in the video above - to vacuum without a bag... so I try and take comfort in the fact that this will not cause motor damage in the (near) future. In case you have more questions, just ping me.

    Is that filter that sits on top of the HEPA filter necessary? I mean it's not really a filter. I was just wondering if it's necessary to have another buffer after the HEPA. It's not like it's stopping any particles from escaping.

    During my search for thick felt for a craft project, I actually stumbled across the same material that’s used for the isolation/insulation pads. Just search for “industrial felt,” maybe add “recycled” to the search terms, and you’ll find it, I promise. If you can buy just a yard/metre, you could easily DIY it. If you have the old pieces to use as a template, that’s even better. Hope this information didn’t come too late. Good luck!

    I own an equivalent high end "European" model the Select XL Parquet and yes you can and should disassemble the motor for inspection and cleaning as part of the service. Its pretty straightforward. The metal end cap is a loose press fit so just tap it off with a soft mallet then 4 torx20 screws and a metric 13mm socket for the nut on the motor spindle. Remember it's a left hand thread, clockwise to loosen. Use a small flat head screw driver to block the impeller, not vice grips! Thanks for the videos but you make it overly mysterious imho. Anyone with some basic tools and patience can overhaul and service these machines with no fuss.

    What would you recommend to clean/polish my Miele? That bottle has alcohol and what in it? I live very far out in the country and the dealer is almost 2hrs away.

    I have an s8 (S8330 Clean Air) that when you turn it on, the light on the power indicator flashes and then goes out. It doesn't turn on. Any ideas what is wrong?

    Indeed! Thanks to this excellent and very instructive video, I tried at home and did NOT f..k it up. Just take time to watch, watch over if necessary and follow the steps taken. No special rools needed, just good care and common sense when putting a small screwdriver between the openings. Washed everything but the motor and electronics as shown. Cleaned the motor with conpressed air. The vacuüm is a lot less noisy since my repair / cleaning action, and the vacuum power did omprove enornmously. Thanks a lot for shring this video.

    The equivalent model would actually be the C3 Complete Brilliant, since it incorporates the power controls on the handle, and also being a powerline model. At my local Sewing & Vacuum store, the C3 Brilliant retails ~$1200. If you throw in a bunch of extras, it can in fact get to $1500.

    I canon understand Europeans, this is a brilliant machine but it's not available in Europe?? WTF. The closest top of the line is a 550W model (Looney EU Rules) and only has the powerhead switch on the hose and does not come with the SEB-236 Electro Premium powerhead. I'm currently living in Europe and have an older (Australian) 2200w version of the Capricorn unit and I absolutely love it but this model was not popular (or available) due to Europeans thinking that it takes too much power. This is incorrect thinking, using more power and powerful powerhead cuts cleaning time right down (especially if you have Cats). With a piss weak machine it will take you much longer and use the same or more power (been there, done that).

    Yep it's crazy, we are limited to 1600w.. Most Miele available are 890w which my C3 is, I find it more than ample, pulls the carpet up in the air, best vacuum I've ever had, tho found my ninja chihuahua has been watering it, now it's in bits
