Midwest Whitetail’s Jared Mills “George Brett” | BuckScore Profiles

Jared Mills reviews the life of George Brett a 180-inch mature buck that met an unfortunate end. The story started in the summer of 2014. The buck started off as a giant 8 point with a drop tine that Jared estimated to be a 4 ½-year-old deer. With a goal only to harvest mature deer, Jared decided to hunt the buck in 2014. During the hunting season, Jared encountered this deer and captured unbelievable footage of George Brett and another buck in an intense fight. Without even thinking about harvesting the deer Jared filmed the entire encounter that is now one of the hottest deer fight videos online today.
Fast forward to 2015, George Brett had all the features of a 5 ½-year-old buck and with BuckScore, was estimated to break the 180-inch mark. While hunting the buck exclusively Jared got one last encounter with George Brett and only a few trail camera pictures. The story ended with Jared finding the buck dead in a fence, uncertain to whether the buck was shot by a poacher, another hunter, or from an injury sustained in an intense buck fight.

One of the best "hunt" stories ever and didn't involve a kill. You always tell a great story Jared, keep it up. Thanks!

Jared, love the story, this is why I watch MW, you guys tell about great journeys with deer. Great job BuckScore. Reminds me a lot of my personal 4 year journey with a buck named Captain Hook who ended up hit by a car. Very bitter way for things to end. Caleb, SBO.

George Brett the deer fighting the other deer, reminds me of George Breet the person, running out of the dugout like a mad man fighting ready to fight the umpire

Amazing journey man, many will never know or understand what it's like to have a relationship with a certain deer, cam pics shed years in the making. In the end it's all abt the conclusion and another chase. There's thousands of hunters but only a very very small percentage of hunters who reach your level. Countless hours of scouting and management ect, every year I try to gain more and more knowledge. Field notes/ more and more cameras and also gaining more properties. I have reach a level of which I take off nov through the first of the year to key in on bucks desired. Your the type of hunter our future needs more of. It's not just killing its land stewardship, herd management and a overall respect for the wildlife and advancing our heritage. Thanks for your dedication to whitetail management and for sharing your countless journies. Look forward to more.

Great story. Sorry you didn’t get a chance to harvest him. Preserved beautifully. Glad I watched it. My first instinct was to skip due to BuckScore (bought the program when it was at Cabelas and they made it not work when they switched to the app - tried to offer 30 days free trial - horrible business to sell a product then remotely disable it for a new money grab!!). Look forward to seeing you on MIdwest Whitetail instead!

I checked out the app; but, how can you score a deer from a trail cam pic, like you are suggesting? Its hard enough when you have the head!

What I took away from that story was and this has become a common theme among big deer. Is many times when the sets you hung aren't producing like you think they should often completely changing it up produces success. I've heard this same thing of giving a Set up a break, going to the complete opposite side of the property and bam the target deer shows up! I wonder if it's natural or are these mature animals aware their being hunted so they move to the opposite side to avoid danger? Either way if you find yourself in a dry spell perhaps do something unexpected it could lead to a Hunt of a lifetime!
