For the record!..... I LOVED the long videos!! :D These one's, I feel, are too short. I loved the detail and thought you guys put into all the reviews, and time spent on multiple tracks. Now, it seems like it's trying to get done as quickly as possible, at all costs.

KZread "data analytics"... And this is how most channels disappear into the void of the forgotten. Not that many people would miss the mess this channel has become. Having said that, Blayne is one of few tolerable presenters still around. I too prefer the old format... Curiously, "one man channels" on KZread which have reviews that last 20 to 30 minutes, crapy lighting, crapy cameras, crapy sound, have 10 times the subscribers of this mess... Just goes to show what happens when you abandon your vision and dreams for that elusive pot of gold, most times it's just a pot of manure, Cheers.

Thanks for the feedback. The truth is if we did videos with one camera and no lights and no music samples and crappy sound and no effects, we could make a bunch of 30 minute videos every week too. But we prefer to make things the best we can. And that takes time. Shorter videos = more videos in 2018!

  • @NorthWolfe

Sorry for the tough love. As someone who invests in KZread channels with potential, I just see greatly increased production costs without any visible results. In my opinion, consistency is the number one asset of any business and "clients" really get pissed off when they hear stuff like "No more "Lock Hornes" for the near future because... Maybe it's the way you guys deliver the message, to me it sounds like a Football Team who instead of playing twice a week, like they are supposed to, just tells their fans that they will eventually play one of these days... Whenever they feel like it. I wasn't trying to criticise the album reviews, Blayne is brilliant in a short format, not everyone can pull that off. What really pisses me is: - Lock Horns happens whenever it happens... Then, out of nowhere, eventually an episode appears and half of it is plagued by technical issues. - The "end of the year" episodes, the ones with the "Best Albums" seemed like they were put together, in a hurry, by a teen who is obliged by his parents to do chores he really hates... He just complies because either that or no internet, no internet no porn, no porn... DEATH!! - Constant changes in formats and in content, with too much "programming" feeling more like filling than like something to work on and evolve. Overall, I feel the channel has become inconsistent, sloppy, has lost the passion, the drive, is adrift of ideas, and with no perceivable structure nor objective. Then again, I might be full of shit... However, staying around the 100K subscribers for about a year seems to indicate that something is not right. Sorry for the long rant... I only do it because you guys had a project which seemed amazing and can still become amazing, Cheers.

Norman we appreciate you caring. We actually had a lot of fun and spent a lot of time on those year end Overkill videos that's too bad you didn't dig them. As for consistency - we do two review videos every Friday, Lock Horns twice a month, and new interviews on Tuesdays as often as we can get them up. With new things coming in 2018 hope you'll stick around. We're definitely here for the long haul. Cheers.

Great review, and I'm glad you're shouting out underground stuff, which is my preference anyway. I would love to see some of these get full reviews over the umpteenth middling death metal or thrash album from a bigger name. I get that you have to cover the bigger acts, but if you have an underground record you really love, why not give it the full attention it deserves? Anyway, keep up the awesome work. There isn't enough material for extreme metal in general, so I'm not complaining; just wanted to give some feedback.

If you keep making 10+ minute videos I'll keep watching them. I think Its best to give the reviews ample time to talk about the album without feeling rushed.

Blayne is entertaining however short the video. I like the longer format. I like in depth details about the songs and the band's writing process. Plus if I can watch a two and a half hour long Cannibal Corpse documentary in one sitting then I can certainly handle 15 to 20 minute long album reviews. Also I'm bothered by lesser known bands not being reviewed. Banger TV should be bringing attention to more obscure bands. I'm glad Midnight snagged a review, now let's see Nunslaughter, Satanic Warmaster, Minas Morgul, Lich King, and their ilk. I WANT to see reviews of bands I haven't heard of. Any source that I can discover new music through is very much welcome.

I like the longer review format with multiple track samples that give a real impression of the album. That's the type of content that nobody else is putting out there. Thoughtful in depth discussion and criticism about an art form that's much dismissed as sort of idiot knucklehead music. The track by track is educational too, helps you develop an ear, hear the various techniques that define the genres, spot the sounds of older bands' influences. I do like the shout outs added at the end though. I am using these reviews to shop for albums to purchase.

This album definitely doesn't feel as gritty/nasty/sleazy as their previous efforts production-wise, but I'd still say 4 out of 5 beer-soaked skulls, too.
