There are five things that I hate about this game. The first thing that I hate is, unlike many Need for Speed titles, there were not a lot of cops that would chase you in a race. Rockstar did fix that in the Midnight Club: Los Angeles games, but that sequel (and its expansions) were honestly a step back from this game in a lot of regards. What needed to happen was a Need for Speed-style pursuit of drivers if they kept up violating the law in the game. The second thing that I hate is that there needed to be more customization in the game in the terms of appearance and performance. No video game that I know of has done it better than the two Need for Speed Underground games. Why can people not simply make a Mario Paint-style interface (complete with adjustable sizes of single pixel art design, i.e., something like the Character Stamp from Mario Paint) with the integration of the other aspects of the customization process of the game, let alone adjust anything like nitrous, brakes, and the like? The third thing that I hate is that the game kind of had limited maps in the game. Were I to make a re-mastered version of this game for the PS4/Pro, Xbox One/Scorpion, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, and maybe Linux and Ouya, I would totally partner with Google and utilize the Google Maps, and Google Maps Street View, and then make the maps accordingly to that and to the real world city limits (and maybe surrounding areas) of those particular cities. Because of this idea, you could add a MUCH larger playing field as well as add MANY more races to make in the game. Furthermore, you could also add real world textures of real life buildings, thus making the game look even better than the version that we all have played. The fourth thing that I hate is the fact that only the Xbox Original version of the game received the ability to play custom music via CDs that you could put into the Xbox Original. Why not utilize that not only on all of the systems that I had mentioned for this hypothetical remake of the game to be made on, but to also allow internet connections to go to any random music downloading website and download the music into a little music file that can be saved on to the game? The fifth, and final, thing that I hate about this game is that the parts are kind of limited. Say I wanted to make something like, say, a Dodge Charger Daytona, a Dodge Super Bee, a Dodge Coronet, a Plymouth Satellite, a Plymouth Road Runner, or a Plymouth Superbird...well, under my system, you can have custom parts to essentially cause free badge swaps to happen via further customizations of parts in the game. With this kind of thought, you could also add custom, factory stock built, or factory modified engines to vehicles or, if you REALLY wanted to have a pair, do something crazy like, say, put a Viper engine under the hood of a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T (yes, someone actually did that in real life once). However, other than my five issues with the game, Midnight Club III: DUB Edition/Remix is one of the best racing games of the PS2 and it is certainly within the top five games of the racing game genre or that system.
