There's a little trick to it. When you start a new game don't go to career, start playing the Tokyo challenge and keep playing until you unlock this tournament (called the Asakusa/Class C tournament). Afterwards start playing the career and keep playing until you unlock the hotmatch cuevito, its a class C bike. Once unlocked, return to Tokyo and start up the tournament with the bike. You'll have class B cars to compete against, instead of exotics. After that either quit the tournament or restart the console (Whichever works best for you) because it will still be hard without upgrades. Return to career, unlock level 2 performance parts for class C vehicles, buy the lotus elise, max it out, then you can beat the tournament easily.

Good strat, but I easily beat it without using any abilities like slow mo, aggro, etc. Used the same car too and went against exotics. Idk I found it easy to beat.

I thought I did find back then but looking at it now it kind of wants me to end up redoing. If I end up doing that it might be when I’m going to do the entire game from start to finish.

I do that on need for speed heat, sort of. I give it a Z tune look with just the sides, bumpers, and the hood, but I don’t change the paint or rims

Yeah yeah, the game really gets frustrating sometimes, A quick tip, the game doesnt really care which class you're bringing on races, if it reaches 250 mph, all bots will also reach 250 mph Plus that, the remix version made it even broken adding new bots to the races, like the diablo and zonda

Ai in this game want to make you lose the race instead. Same with the Ai police too, they seriously against the players but act dumb when against Ai racers

I have been blessed by the algorithm. I fired up my PS2 for the first time in about 10 years the other day, and thought I'd have a go at finally finishing MC3R. I remember getting stuck on this tournament all those years ago and thinking I've much improved since then, how hard could it be? My god how wrong I was. Skyline, Evo, Elise, CL55, none of them came close to winning. Best chance I had was in the Evo, winning the 1st race for the first time ever, only to get absolutely wiped in the 2nd and 3rd again. Needless to say the game got turned off again pretty quickly.

The game is so insanely unfair. The best chance you have at completing everything is to take a bike NOT a car. Bikes have insane handling, speed and their mass is comparable to a car for some reason.

This Tournament is a nightmare!!

It was one of my favorite childhood games asides from other game franchise that came out during the year when midnight club came out. I remember this being one of the most annoying game to get my PlayStation 2’s to read. I had really bad luck getting this game to read only system back then.

I remember doing this tournament with a gemballa f355 it look me almost 12 tries because I keep forgetting I'm in Tokyo hence the roads are narrow and the left side of the road is actually the right side but once I got the hang of this race I felt so satisfied after winning you brought me nostalgia with this amazing game

Super agree, the R34 GT-R being detected as a pseudo-Class B car means, you get the slower exotics as the AI. Though the exotics are in Class A, there are two halves of it, the F355, Cien, Turbo Coupe and Diablo are classed as low-end ones since they are the R34's main rivals. The Zonda, Murceialgo, CLK GTR, ME Four Twelve, F1 LM and S7 are the top tier AI.

Was able to win that tournament easily with the CL55 AMG, the car you get after winning all Luxury Rollers Club races, plus only performance customization in that car is extra nitrous, but that's that, plus it has agro, which allowed me to ram racers out of the way.

These tournaments was my kryptonite

This game is torture, but in another side is worth to play. I remember when I play this game for the first time. It's frustrating. No race barrier, building placement is totally random, random traffic, ramp, and OP Opponents. Rage quit is always there but when I have time, I'm back to play this game again. Now I have 3 saves with 100% completion in PS2 and 1 save 100% completion in PSP Version. Ahhh want to play again

I remember restarting this race like 10 times

"Class C tournament? Nah the strongest opponents are gonna be Evos, Supras, and Elises" Sees Diablos and Ciens: "Class C tournament my ass.." Well, turned out.. they are common opponents for a maxed out R34.

I play/beat dub edition and dub edition remix yearly. Once you get to this tournament, do not try it, keep playing/winning races to unlock the next tournament. I play the newly unlocked tournament first and then go back to this tournament. It’s way easier that way and doesn’t make you want to throw the controller through the TV.

The Best way to beat this tournament is picking any luxury car or muscle car from the C class.. Is because using the skyline, the supra and the Lancer Is More harder than the muscle, luxury and the suv and trucks

Tbh I did no tuning as I forgot and still forget it is a feature to this day in the game. On my officials playthrough I did this tournament much more better than what you see in this video.

Who else misses how satisfying it was to mow down those trees and light poles? Wish they had kept it that way in LA.

little tricks (if people still playing this game and stuck at tokyo challenge in 2023) : dont use full upgrades cars for all tournament use stock cars or the opponent will be class A or higher performance. if you use stock cars or no upgrades you will get easy opponent, the opponent will be suit on your stock upgrades performance. biggest chance to win tournament but using stock cars

I used evo for this tournament. This is why i never go to tokyo after career is done

The fact you could absolutely never see where you were going certainly was a major reason this game was hard haha I loved it though.

yeah I don't use mainly so I end up finishing races a bit faster. I think my main playthrough on this game ends up being much faster than this video because I took sometime to improve my driving skills.

I know its may be a bit late, I've played this game soo many times, Apparently theres a RNG for some of the game difficulty, I've been playing both in ps2 and ps3 versions All my accs had "extreme difficulty peaks" in some events like: 2nd vanessa appearance, Rupture is the race name 1st Ceasar race called Hook and dagger 1st Spider race into railroad I forgot the name And in Detroit the class D tournment and this one class C I always use the same vehicles: Starting with the SRT4- IS300 - CFL- 04'SS1000 and finishing with the Factory, And also going for 100% Career then tokyo

@@gingy-fortnite3380 yeeeah also the r34 rules c class entirely, I just picked the merc cuz it also feels way way faster than other c class cars and you can use wall assisted cornering and braking with it without slowing down or spinning out, bro if u play on emulator u can quick save stages of the race till u memorize it :') trust me. It works 👌💯😁
