Midlength FG Board | Product Overview

Join Armstrong Foils founder Armie Armstrong for a product overview.
The Midlength is more than a board, it’s an approach. It’s the unconventional idea that in a world hellbent on giving you so many choices that you can hardly pick what to take out for a session, doing more with less is an inspiring alternative. Five sizes from 5’1 (45L) to 6’5 (85L).

Great video, one of the better vids to date on new product introduction. That new 7m wing also looks a winner for those of us that live in light wind locations

The TRUTH is simple about these boards: This shape is old technology (natives invented it for canoes). AppleTree has been doing it for a while…and it works. Unlike a ton of “pro only gear” this shaped helps everyone paddle faster and catch waves easier. BUT the big KICKER is the placement of the mast tracks; its PHYSICS. The fulcrum / balance point is moved up from the back of the board. I have two APPLETREE boards; 6’7” 19” wide and 5’1” *18.5” wide. I think Armstrong went a bit TOO narrow with 17”. Considering the board you’re used to is 20” +/- . So the take home: The larger sizes are a blast to wing and turn and get on foil MUCH faster and the prone sizes will help catch more waves and you wont have to take off in the crucial section. 98% of the foil community does NOT live where the conditions are great. The gear you want to buy is the stuff that makes your local spot easy and fun.

Good analysis. In addition is worth to mention 2 step back: 1. Increased thickness that worsen the feeling connection to the foil. 2. More swing weight by length. Anyway great overall board and good construction !

Honestly I don’t see I rode a mid length and instantly wished I was on my prone board

Prone. But with a wing I believe this bring the two disciplines closer together.
