Great showing how you did your installation. I bought the same unit 2 years ago so I could mount it under a seat or in the cargo area of my Jeep Cherokee, which I did. Just need to keep it clear for cooling. I also used the smaller wire antenna out my rear hatch to luggage rack. So people know who might want to buy one, you have no need to ever touch the unit just the microphone / speaker for turning on or making channel changes.
Good morning Mumfy. They really have made size improvements to those systems. Thanks for indepth review and install.

Thanks!!
Been running that unit for over a year now, really great radio. The only thing I wish Midland would do is allow us to be able to program more sets of repeater channels than what's preloaded on it. Otherwise this is a solid unit.

Great to hear that the performance has been top notch. I am still learning about this radio and the rest of the GMRS community. Thanks for the info.
Crazy how I buy a mod but you beat me to the install. 😂 your videos are awesome bro. Love the truck. Yota gang!!

The morse code you hear is just the repeater identifying the licensee's call sign who owns that repeater. Wish I knew morse code to tell you the call sign by I haven't a clue.

thanks for the info. I am just getting started on this kind of radio so I'll be looking to the GMRS community for more info.
I'm planning on installing this to my switch panel (Auxbeam) so i can turn it off and on myself via a button. this is so i don't mess with the fuse box.

Great option! I chose to go this route so that I didn’t take a slot on my switch pro that I may need for something else.
I ran my power wire to the Qi switch (blue wire) then ground wire to a bolt somewhere behind the radio. Therefore I can turn the midland on/off using the Qi switch.

Interesting solution for power!!
late to your video, but there are morse code translators out there which can hear the code and tell you what it is. Someone else said it is the call sign of the licensee, and that call sign is RAR674

I’ve also heard that it’s the repeater check so I’m not sure.
so im thinking of getting one but having the antenna behind the grille. living in the la area. i’ve seen some antennas get stolen. idk if thats a good idea

The only issue I have with this approach is that you will affect the line of sight needed to get full range of the antenna. Even I have some clarity issues with the placement i choose to put it.

@@Mumfy64 I see honestly I don’t need miles of range, just to communicate while driving, thanks for the feedback!

Yea, living in Any shit hole like la is asking for trouble. I wouldn't mount it unsecured.

@gramirez3 If you don't need much range you should be good.
