Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
You can get the Midland MXR10 GMRS Repeater here: amzn.to/49lTeN9
**UPDATE: Even though the case on MY Retevis RT97 is plastic, I have received reports from viewers that their RT97 cases is made of aluminum.
In this video I will introduce you to the new Midland MXR10 GMRS repeater. I will show you an overview of this GMRS repeater, I will test the power output of the MXR10 and I will allow you to listen to examples of the people using this new GMRS repeater so you can get an idea of how far it can transmit and receive from GMRS walkie-talkie radios and GMRS mobile radios.

The moment I saw the notification about this repeater from Midland yesterday, I thought "I know what Randy924's next video will be about". I was not disappointed.
Randy, your unique way of combining information with humor is outstanding. I am regularly reminded of an instructor I had in the Navy in the 70s. A signal was never ‘attenuated”…it was “resistorized.” A capacitor “capacitated” and an inductor “induced.” Keep on going! - Phil

@heartborntreasures602 And Randy's vocabules are well modulational and communicationary. 😂
I like that the antenna can handle 100 watts... Now Midland should make a repeater that puts out 50 watts after the duplexer... Hopefully they will!

I don't think you are going to see a 50w transmitter in anything close to that form factor. I wish it would because it might help improve some dicey contacts with my Retevis and these are really easy to deploy.

You're probably correct about that... it's a nice portable size which is really nice. I also like how it came be used as a mobile repeater in a vehicle. That being said, maybe Midland will come out with a easy to use all in one base repeater with 50watts out!

Let's see, with a hand held, a factory rubber duck on my tid gm5r , 2.6 watts out, ground level, 15 miles to a repeater, or line of sight to second ht, close to 3 miles in taffic, unobstructed or 100% clear 4 miles + ..nahh no need for 50 unless way FAR from repeater..
While I am a radio guy and get a ton out of your content, it doesn’t matter what you post about I would watch it, your style is second to none!
I'm in the process of setting up a GMRS repeater for our local 4wheeling group to use. Because, reasons. I local sad ham came at me with the usual "We already have several amateur repeaters in our area. I'm not sure what gmrs offers in that it requires an expensive license." nonsense. I responded with the usual logic, but was met with more disdain. So sad. I'm also a ham, (And a GMRSer, obviously) but not in the least bit sad, lol. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for inspiring me to become a pillar of the community. You're the best! Keep up the very important, informative work you're doing. It is very much appreciated.
The 'Merica option sold it for me - thank you for the review!
I'm looking forward to seeing someone open this up and compare it to the Retevis RT97.
Nice overview! Need to try this during the next SERE Challenge
Have had a retevis rt97 running on solar with batteries operating on our ranch here in coastal Texas for well over a year, works great 0 problems! Im sure this Midland will do just as well!
Thanks for the shout out ("My favorite viewer") Great video as always. I'm glad they sent one to you at no cost.
Add a 'drive on' tower base for your temporary repeater tower, 20 + height poles and antenna for your outdoor events !
I knew as soon as I saw the release Randy would be quick on a review!
Good Vid Randy. Good to see Midland competing in the Repeater market.
That's a lot more hassle free for not much more money than the retevis. I like it.
Man, you got me. After watching 10 or 12 of your videos I went searching the Internet for a Farsometer 2000. Upon further inspection on my 22" tv screen I detect some modification. Well played.
Perfect timing. Email from them came the same day as your video. Thank you good sir, love your videos.
What a time to be alive in the radio hobby!
Love your channel. I bought a baofeng about a year ago and have used it to scan and I got my GMRS license a couple of weeks ago and I am waiting for my new gmrs rig to get here.
I knew as soon as I saw the release by Midland Randy would get a review up quickly ... for me his favorite viewer by the way.
Excellent video as usual.
Thanks again for a straight to the point and information packed video. I am going to wait until they have a version that will deliver about 20ish watts after the duplexer, it should not be that difficult for them to do - we have the technology. It's disappointing to see this being so underpowered. Maybe I'll get one just to open it up and see what I can do to make improvements as far as power is concerned.
Thanks for telling the price first. Love your style
Keep it up funny man. Love these You Tube videos that you have produced. Thanks for sharing this Midland unit. I am in a forest setting with mountains all around me in southeastern Oklahoma.

I am familiar with your neck of the woods, beautiful part of our state! As soon as I saw this, I ordered the bundle package to use here in Ardmore. We'll see how it works, wish I could sneak mount it on 1 of the many towers up in the Arbuckles! Lolol
I may need this!!! Yes, yes I do need this!
I have learned alot from your videos. Thank you
I believe it is a great solution for Camp Hosting in areas it makes sense. We struggle with cellular comms in the mountains of Colorado and although I do not think we could cover all of our territories with one repeater, even if it was a higher-powered (50-watt) commercial repeater at an elevated height. However, 2 or 3 of these deployed throughout the valley where we park our RV at a commercial RV park and where one or two of our supported campgrounds that has commercial power available (and a secured small building) could cover the majority of our territory in this district. I have petitioned the corporate manager to allow me to buy the first bundle so I can evaluate coverage and show them how it can solve their mandate for Camp Host emergency communications. The difficulty happens where we do not have power and where the repeater would have to be located outside of the campground boundaries. I believe this product would set a great demonstration of why we would make it work with a combination of solar and lithium battery storage. Cheers, Dave - WNTI-814
I noticed the new Retevis repeater the day before i got the notification that Midland was going to drop this... i have wanted the retevis since you did the video on it. Think i might get this & the new MXT275 bundle...
Just found your channel the other day. Long term ham here, but need solutions for the non-ham team members for SHTF. They mostly can’t even figure out how to put a AA battery into a PVS-14 with a pictograph on the side. So, I realized that I need simple even if some features are missing. Too bad these aren’t in stock right now. Great channel.
I like how everyone testing your repeater uses the roger beep.
All I did was buy my kids some walkie talkies that don't suck, and now I'm all obsessed with radio crap. What the hell happened?
Thank You for the excellent review! I was one of the dummies who thought it was just a re-labeled version of the Retevis repeater. Glad I watched your vid! The aluminum case does make for a better unit. I also enjoyed the audio of it being used. It has a squelch tail! 🙂👍 Lot's of people bi - -h about squelch tails but to me, it makes it sound like a "real" radio from the 60's or 70's. Also, in noisy conditions, the squelch tail is helpful in letting you know the other guy stopped transmitting.
Some days I wish Companies would send me Useful items to Do videos on I always get the People that want me to test cheap 10 dollar lights or Junk on amazon like Shower curtains or Jackets.. good Video as always Randy @NotaRubicon Productions
Excellent Presentation!
I've been deploying repeaters around my vicinity, and these lower powered units will fit a niche where the 50 watt units may be overkill. My refurbished GR 1225s are a little more expensive than these. Not quite as bulletproof either. Thanks for another quality review.
Thank you for the awesome video. Was just curious as to what antenna you are using with this repeater. Im considering picking this one up, thank you.
Is that your rendition of Catturd2 on the wall LOL!!!
great review Randy… thank you
looking into getting one. just want simple .From what you have showed it should work 24V .should draw less amps at 24V. I have LFP battery . should run several days. 200 Ah . thank you for showing this. I have many Midland radios and love them all. CB to weather radios to GMRS . all great for me . Even the 2meter/70Cm radio great . and any time I had to reach them I got a nice response and all questions answered. The weather alert radio from Midland works great and all ways goes with me . 😀
Another outstanding video.
Well done, as always. Thank you.
Was eagerly awaiting this when I saw it and you posted on a forum that you were not able to post a video until today. Too bad it's only 6.17 watts output since to reach one homestead blocked by hills and trees, we need 20 watts (thank the wife choosing the terrible location because she "wants a house and she wants it NOW!!!".) Guess we'll be sticking to the crossband repeater set up until Midland makes one that will output 20 watts after duplexer losses.

Long time cb'er, soon to be gmrs'er, so im learning. Are gmrs amplifiers a thing? Kind of like the banger boxes some cb guys run?
Thank you for your entertaining and informative videos. They are very helpful to me as a radio newbie. If I want to avoid using a repeater, do I have to have line of sight for GMRS? If I have two 50W Midland radios 4 miles apart and one is just the other side of a medium hill, will they not be able to connect? Or do I require a repeater if I do not have line of sight? Thank you in advance.
Very nice. I like the upgrades compared to the competition
This may well be the repeater I've been waiting for. Now I've got the hilltop home but no silo... as I don't think a silo is permitted within the city limits I believe a 30' power atop two-story house will make people smile from many fars away. (And me able to not be so jealous of Randy's using HTs in his basement!) IF the unit is in stock and shipping and the forecast 8" of snow melts off the roof in a week or two, I should be able to get this puppy installed. BUT... being in WI, that 8" or snow may be followed by another 40"+. Let's hope the weather gods of Xenu will smile upon my roof and thus my footing after stepping off the ladder. (I can reach a local repeater from the nearby hospital - don't ask how I know!)

Tom, because of the weather proof case, you can mount the repleater (My RT97s is similar) very close to the antenna and have no coax loss. Doing motorcycle meets I'll hoist a SlimJim into a tree with the router and just run a 12v line to it. I have 30' of 12v and a Renology battery pack. I'm also putting the router in my sidecar for group rides. Position myself in the middle of 2 dozen riders and repeat from the front to the back of the pack easily. Need to figure out the best antenna for that.

Freedom! love the T-Shirt and buzz words. You speak clearly and slowly for our less fortunate brothers and sisters who still haven't figured out what their rights and freedoms are. Great educational video.
I almost pulled the trigger on the Retevis unit and am glad I waited. Any chance we could get a repeated desert test like you did with the Retevis one? Please?
Back to the broken pencil tip again, huh? 🤣. Love your videos.
is the diplexer tuned to a certain freq? i wonder what the power output is throughout the range of channels.
I would have much preferred a 50 watt unit or even a 40 watt repeater❗️However, I fully understand the need for less power due to it’s battery limitations. I won’t be buying one, specifically because of the limited output power. This review is greatly appreciated👍
I like the metal case! I'd love to know what kind of power that thing sucks up.
Thank you for doing the video
bought one with your referral so i can taste and chew on the leather strap.
Got me wanting to see the inside badly
The manual labels the DB9 connector as “Microphone/Data COM Port” but doesn’t give any details on its pinout. It may be possible to use this to inject identification or perhaps maybe use and external repeater controller.
What is better in your opinion for reliability and fares the 2 Wouxun KG-1000G GMRS repeater set up or the midland repeater?
Can an antenna like a double stack 5/8 wave mobile antenna be attached directly (no coax) to the side of the MXR10 unit and mounted in an attic? Just wondering if antenna being so close to the unit will cause a problem?
It's like watching "Max Headroom" 1985......Awesome!!!
I watch many of your videos, but still thinking you are having a stroke every time you pause to mention the affiliate links 🤣🤣🤣 love your videos.
Love Catturd!
Okay I'm getting the Midland repeater
That is the best t shirt i have seen in a while.
Okay, I watched the video this morning. It is a copy.(minor difference) My RT97 is metal, did come preprogrammed and squirts 6.6 migigiwiggies of RF electricities.
Cool! I've always wanted a Nuspi! :)
My next repeater MX R10 Midland 👍
I wonder if you set it for a Specific Frequency then Tuned the Duplexer what the Power Output would then be ?..
Is that catturd on you display back there?
Thanks!

Newbie ...researching GMRS... I'm considering either a HAM radio or (since i found your videos) a GMRS radio. The ease of the GMRS radio has me strongly considering. I'm looking for a way to communicate with one of my kids who lives just outside of NYC in Hoboken, NJ. I live on Long Island NY, 28 miles away from the school. Is it possible to communicate with a GMRS radio and repeaters considering the terrain? thanks
Hi, Love your videos. Question ,,I have very rural property in southern ohio, on a high hill.(athens county). I would like to place a gmrs repeater there as none are anywhere nearby . But,, if I am going to mess with it I want more wattage than this one. I think duty cycle would be low. I see you said look at the used market. Any suggestions otherwise? And, do I have to get FCC permission somehow? Thanks.
I know what I want for Christmas.
Randy, is there a delay setting on the Repeater. A couple seconds after transmission maybe. Also, Does it matter what channel you use with the internal duplexer, or is it tuned for just one Freq. Thanks for Your Videos and The education.
@TheNotaRubicon
Жыл бұрын
Yes, the setting is in the software but I dont recall the exact menu item. The repeater is locked to transmitting only on GMRS repeater frequencies and the duplexer is tuned to cover all 8 of them -although ONE frequency would work best i'm not sure which one that is.

@@TheNotaRubicon Thanks Randy, Much appreciated, I may buy one of these repeaters, it Would serve my purpose for my neighborhood and Surrounding Blocks to occasionally Talk on.
You put this thing high up with a directional antenna pointing in the direction of your primary radio activity and you will get great coverage.
I want to see a tear down of these repeaters.
Thank you!
Would you buy this over the rt97?
The aluminium case is great for heat dissipation but I think it should be atleast 25w out after internal losses.🙁
Would anyone happen to know if there is an affiliate link below ?
Thank you for the review. Please excuse my ignorance but is there any kind of 3rd-party amplifier (up to 50 watts) that could be inserted between the repeater output and the GMRS antenna?

Finally, MIDLAND has put another step forward with it's GMRS equipment line. Wonder when MIDLAND will produce Hand-Held transceivers that are repeater capable. As far as MIDLAND repeater looks like another manufacturers repeater , well that's just like Nissan and Ford back in the day. Both companies used Body frame, but sold under different models

Trust is a strong word...
If people are worried about four hours, not being enough battery time, during a shit hit the fan situation Maybe they should do a little more listening and a little less talking that’s what it’s all about. During an emergency you shouldn’t speak unless you have to. some people do have electric generators and can keep Repeater, going forever, but it doesn’t mean people should be using your Repeater, All day long during a bad situation. Anyway, love your channel. Great personality.

What brand of 10db antenna does midland repeter use?
I've still yet to see a speaker or microphone that uses a serial port that is offered by midland, or any microphone company for that matter. Is anyone aware of one? and anyone who has one of these repeaters, what have you done instead?
Hi! Newbie GMRS user here.I love your videos. Very funny and informative 👍👍👍 I have a question - I'm trying to obtain more "fars" when I'm out camping, in the cabins, and road trips with my family and friends. Which would get me more "fars"? Midland MXT575 or MXR10?
@TheNotaRubicon

Well the MXT575 is a radio and the MXR10 is a repeater, so thats kinda like comparing apples to paring-knives.
Hello I am fairly new with all this g, m, R, s, so pardon the question. I have a group of 4 friends in South Florida all Within a 20 mile range urban area.. I am running into a lot of resistance. I to pay and use other peoples repeaters... They don't like newbies, they treat us Harshly..... if I purchase this repeater. Can I use it with my 4 friends? And they can bounce off my repeater without interfering with other people.. is my question.? FYI We all have our license. And i wouldbe using a 30 FT .Antenna. . thank you for your time. Love your videos. Leo
In unison we say “we trust his word” 😂
It would be great to get one of these on Mt Laguna
"power supply" might be a good term for this cord, because is 24v capable and must be able to lower voltage to 12v.
This MXR10 repeater looks exactly like my Retevis RT97S! I downloaded me MXR10 programming guide and software, and it appears to be identical to my RT97S! I would like to see both of them, opened up (after the warrantee period) and have you and your "experts" do a visual comparison of the two along with a good use of the 9 pin data port. Always good videos, thank. Karl
